Look, always remember. Any sort of porn ban will be used to:

ban a variety of queer content (both trans and just other queer stuff)

ban certain health education content (especially on women's health)

create a precedent to charge minorities for any sort of content that will be argued to be then "pornographic"

will also very certainly create precedent to go against platforms like tumblr and AO3 and whereever you consume your favorite fanwork

will definitely also charge any depiction of "female presenting nipples"

Even if you think all porn is bad (you are wrong by the way), this stuff is never just about porn. Heck, chances are they would use such a law to in some roundabout way also prevent simple sex ed!

Literally no one is asking you to consume porn.

Zero people are asking you to look at it, and no rational person would encourage you to do so based on what you just said.

But you seriously want to police every other person's behavior in their own homes because you have personal trauma? You think you have the right to demand consenting adults do in the privacy of their own homes because of that? Or what media they choose to consume?

"So being sex averse asexual is my problem," I mean quite frankly? Yes. Yes it is. Just like your trauma is your own and I hope you get the help you need. But any therapist worth their salt is going to tell you that your triggers are your responsibility, and demanding the world conform to you is, frankly, not reasonable.

And again, regardless of your positions on pornography itself, laws like these are used to persecute queer people. I can't say it better than how its already described in the thread above (which its clear you didn't read), but laws like this is how drag performers, trans people, and anyone who falls outside social norms gets arrested and locked up for being "obscene" just by existing.

I'm not joking, the modern American right hates asexuals, thinking they're deviants and they actively want to kill us if they could.

The reality is, this push to create a great firewall of America is exactly what they've been doing to get any lgbtq stuff out of schools for the crime of showing that gay people exist or that black people exist.

People forget that once upon a time, women were prosecuted as being obscene for wearing anything that showed anything above the knee, and that indeed, anything above the ankle was lewd. It wasn't actually about lewdness, it was about the power to decide for other people, with the force of the law, what people could do.

There are plenty of things to critique porn over, from how it educates people about sex to how many people feel like they have to do onlyfans to survive. But that's not what this is about. It's about giving people the right to harass and jail people for not being christian fundamentalists.

The reality also is that we, as sex averse asexuals, are even less entitled to tell other people who are not like us how they should live, as the ones who are in the minority. Just as they shouldn't tell us how we should live, we should not tell them how to live. I would never expect anyone else to live according to the way I want to live, and I expect that no one else will demand that I live according to how they want me to live.

But what these people want is to force people like us, people who don't want to have sex and who find sex itself to be off putting, to be forced to engage in these things, in the same way they want to force women into marriages to produce kids. Because they view our existence as being an abomination. We are not spared simply because our choice is to not engage. They hate us as much as they hate any trans person or gay person.

I don't consume porn, but I also understand that the people crusading against it are not my friends and would have me stoned to death if they felt they could get away with it.
