Studied some scenes from the last Agni Kai by painting them in my style🔥 Which of these pieces is your favourite?🔥 Honestly, I struggled so hard with the fire, but I think I managed to get there in the end ^_^ Hope you like it!
Sokka didn’t deserve to become a supporting character.
Grand Lotus Sokka and Chief Katara.
My take on the older water siblings, the prides and joys of the Southern Water Tribe.

lighting a candle is like having a tiny little pet fire
firebenders can be healers
Here’s a list of cool things a firebender can do with their element to be healers:
Cauterize big wounds or blood vessels
Remove necrotic tissue and even amputate a limb.
Slowly raise the body temperature of an hypothermic patient
Cool down the body of patiente with high temperature
Apply heat to reduce inflammation and edemas
Apply heat to relief the pain caused by stiff muscles or joints
Defibrillate a heart
Use their arms and a leg as electrods to check on the electrical changes of the heart.
zukka au where they dress up as kataang for a day on a dare (from toph)
zuko with his imitation skills tries to be all bright and cheery like aang and just can’t land it (like in canon when he was like ‘what would uncle do?’)
sokka’s imitation of his sister is perfect
bonus if they’re not together yet and zuko calling him sweetie and for once being allowed to openly stare at him because aang stares at katara and compliments her all the time right?
makes sokka lose his damn mind
#aang & katara dress up as zuko & sokka the next day#and it’s just#katara: dude i love you so much in a totally platonic way tho but i’m in love with you#aang: bro i’m in love with YOU but just as friends#zuko and sokka are Not amused#zukka#kataang#atla @zukkaclawthorne
oh my god
We all making jokes about Zuko working at the tea shop as firelord, and how humble he is towards his servants. But what if a diplomat from the earth kingdom shows up one day and catches Zuko in a more casual outfit while being ushered through the palace. The diplomat mentions something about how Lee must be very good at making tea if he was sent all the way to the fire nation and asks to be served during the meeting. Not one to turn down an offer Zuko obliges and disappears off into the kitchen. The diplomat sits down at the meeting table, awaiting the arrival of the firelord when his tea arrives. He pours a cup for everyone sat around the table including the firelord. The diplomat inquiries when the firelord will be joining, to which Zuko responds by sitting in the throne at the head of the table.

Today is the 15-year anniversary of the premier of Avatar the Last Airbender. It won’t be the anniversary of the first episode I ever saw until tomorrow though.
I saw the second episode the 2nd day that it aired, and after that, I never missed the air date of a single episode. Not even when I was in the hospital and had to watch The Beach on my room TV and listen through the clunky bed speaker.
Have any of you guys been watching it from the beginning?
Anyway, thanks for 15 years, Fire Lord of My Heart. 🔥
[ID: Two digital paintings of Zuko in brown and gold Earth Kingdom clothing leaning against a balustrade or fence. He’s shown from the waist up. In the first image he looks towards the ground bashfully. In the second, he looks directly at the viewer with a shy, crooked smile. The background is a golden-blue sky with golden clouds. /END ID] @atladescribed
rewatched atla and now i have azula brain disease (instead of brain there’s azula)

I wish I had her vibe
[Image description: a digital drawing of Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender. She has medium brown skin and long dark brown hair that is loose except for two loops on either side of her temples. She is wearing a shortsleeved blue tunic over a shirt with dark blue sleeves. She is also wearing her mother’s necklace. Her eyes are shiny and white and match the color of the water that she is holding in her hands. The water is dripping down through her fingers. There is a shiny white circle in the middle of her forehead, and the moon is framing her head. End image description.]
hey avatar fandom!!
PLEASE
STOP
MAKING AND REBLOGING
WHITEWASHED
ART!!!!!
i’m so sick and tired of seeing wonderful characters who, i finally got to see myself represented in, get taken by whitewashing. it pains me to see such talented artists create such wonderful pieces, making these characters they pour hours of work into, inaccurately.
whitewashing comes in all shapes and sizes. putting white eyelid creases on any character that isn’t white? whitewashing. put these characters into au’s that erase culture and their would-be struggles of being a poc? whitewashing.
and giving aang hair? that erases his culture. please don’t do it. yes he looks great with hair. but if you watched the show, you know how much his tattoos and culture mean to him. don’t erase that.
the air nomads are based off of tibetan/nepalese monks
the earth kingdom is based off of imperial china
the fire nation is based off of imperial japan
the water tribe is based off of the inuit/ yupik/native siberian and other indigenous tribes
do not erase these characters’ culture and background by giving them romanticized white/western features. we are beautiful in our own way, that isn’t yours.
artists!! please research what you’re drawing! all it takes is a couple minutes and a few searches. honestly, feel free to ask me if you’re uncerntain about something, as long as you are respectful. i’m happy to help.
but please remember it is not my job as a chinese minor to say these things. it should be a given. the fact that ive met one (1) atla artist who was invested in learned how to draw these characters accurately and was willing to change their past art made me so insanely happy its honestly sad. we shouldn’t be thankful and overjoyed for artists doing the bare minimum.
if you want to correct me on anything, please do so (respectfully please!). but that doesn’t change the fact that so many popular art pieces are whitewashed. want to know some? come ask.
edit: HEY ANY ARTISTS? PLEASE CHECK THIS OUT! there are plenty of recourses for how to describe/draw “asian” eyes without being offensive, but for now please read this!
edit 2: hey guys!! i’m glad to see a ton of people are liking this post. please reblog it too! spread the word! this is important. thank you!
I know people don't care about actually listening to actual poc talking about actual racism in the fandom but PLEASE read this
Modern atla aus, the way a LOT of you interpret them are so, so racist, it pains me. You guys take asian characters, from a universe where canonically only asian culture (mostly) prevails, then you take away everything that makes them asian and say 'hey! I made a modern au.' As if physical features are the sole characterstic of such a diverse ethnicity.
I know y'all white people are SO used to being mollycoddled and seeing your culture and your ethnicity and what makes you you in practically every single show that exists but OTHER ETHNICITIES AREN'T. And I know there a ton of problems in the way atla represented Asians, but at least it was meaningful representation. It wasn't just taking a white characters and darkening their skin.
You guys take these asian characters and make them live in white countries and have white weddings and white school aus and white food aus and they may seem like little things to YOU (because you're so used to seeing your culture depicted in media you don't even know what it feels like when it isnt) but what this implies is that you cannot see the ethnicity asian as more than a set of physical features.
Tell me how that is not whitewashing.
You guys saw these completely non white characters and said. "Hey! What if they were white? What if they wore american fashion? What if they lived in america/canada/*insert white country here*? What if they had a christian wedding even though they're not christian? Etc etc"
You think skin tone and facial features is completely what racism is all about. You think it ends there. But that's where it just starts. Our traditions are called weird and our cultural outfits are 'exotic' and apparently even the sight of our food makes some of y'all vomit, so we all have to hide that cultural aspect of ourselves always so that we're not mocked or ostracized and it fuckin hurts so much.
How many wedding aus have you read, in general? And how many of them were christian weddings? Any Hindu weddings? Any Chinese? Any Muslim? I am willing to bet all my money there were none.
And if you think it's because fandom spaces are predominantly filled with white people, you're wrong. Poc form a vast amount of readers and writers and artists. But even they have to whitewash their content otherwise you guys will not just accept it, because "huhbuhruh, what is this? Not my culture? I donut understand. I thought everything was supposed to be relatable to me."
Oh and if your argument is "hey I don't know anything about asian culture so ill just write what I know about" fuck off. You can do some goddamn research. It takes only a few clicks. "Oh but that's too hard!!" Well if I as a young asian teen read so much about christian weddings so I could write a fic about my otp y'all can read a couple articles or watch some videos as a 20 something y/o to write it. It's not hard. And if you think that's too hard, just don't. Don't write. Sometimes it's also fun to just read the writing of poc. (You know, like most poc have been doing for white content this whole time?) Everything does not have to be for you.
Because cultural representation matters so much more than y'all think. I've seen indian actors play characters but it was so rare to find them reference their culture and it not be treated as a joke. It's painful. I saw a shred of cultural representation and y'all are too quick to take it away.
You guys should really question what you mean by a modern au. Do you mean that it be set in a relatively recent time or you mean 'american au'. You should talk to poc about what's okay and what's not. That's the only way you'll know. My inbox is personally open to anyone who wishes to know how to be respectful while representing my culture. You guys have to make an effort to not be racist. Because I know it's nothing intentional, but deeply ingrained.
And listen to poc when they talk about racism. Its sad how the most popular posts about racism are the ones written by white people. It's like imagine if a fish wrote about the struggles of terrestrial animals and what the fish wrote is the best selling book.
tl;dr the interpretation of modern aus can be racist a lot of times so please be careful and listen to poc when they tell you something's racist.
Also if you actually care about making a difference, please reblog.
Toph, angrily: ARE YOU-
Zuko: Fucking.
Toph: -KIDDING ME?! YOU-
Zuko: Fucking.
Toph: IDIOT-
Sokka: …what was that?
Zuko: Katara banned Toph from swearing, so I’ve volunteered to help her out -
a concept: zuko waiting tables at the jasmine dragon as a well-deserved break from firelord duties, but he does not understand how he keeps getting recognized!!! he’s wearing green and everything!!! it’s inexplicable!!!
zuko: hi what can I get for you today?
extremely bemused customer: um...... aren’t you the firelord???
zuko: you know, I get that a lot. I think it’s the nose
