a detail i adore in iron lung is that the two times simon goes to drink something (the water and then the rubbing alcohol), he sniffs it beforehand. i wonder if it’s a habit he’s taken to ensure that the food/water he was given was safe to consume, since resources are very scarce. either way it’s a very small detail but i wish people would integrate it in their fics, especially bloodymary!
