So Maybe a sequel ?

You guys saw Ohm and Nanon’s reactions about an eventual sequel for bad buddy

and Nanon was hyping up fans on his twitter sharing photos of Pran’s items like the watch and his student ID so I think there is a good chance of a sequel or maybe I am reading too much into it !

So what I would like to see in this new season or special movie:

1) I need Pat to notice the watch on Pran’s wrist and then finding out Pran’s crush on him since high school.

2) A flash back to see how they become friends and accomplices and Pat finding out that Pran wrote just friends about his feelings for him.

3) I want to see how Pran and Pat dealt with the seperation when he had to transfer schools.

4) I need to see how Pran first reacted to his jealousy when Pat was flirting with Ink in high school.

5) I also want to compare it to how he reacts now that he is in a relationship with Pat :D 

6) I also want to see how they lived together once Pat graduated since he only had four years (engineering) while Pran needed 5 years to graduate (Architecture).

By the way did they trade gowns ? aren’t engineering students blue and architecture red ?

7) I want to see them celebrate their birthdays together and first anniversary as a couple.

8) I Also want to see how Pran chose to go to singapore for two years and how they dealt with that.

9) I want to see Pat surprising Pran in Singapore and vice versa.

10) I want to know if Pran designed Pat’s appartment for him? how did they choose the bedding and who made their wall of memories. 

11) I want to see how Pran showed Pat the guitar pick he made for him and kept all these years. 

And finally I would like to see how their parents will come arround and accept their relationship.

So yeah for all these reasons I think a sequel is worth a shot!

Wishful thinking

I still want Pran to confess his crush to Pat … that he liked him since high school, the song he wrote for the festival was about him and that the watch he is always wearing is the one he found for him in their childhood. I hope we can see that on ep 12.

we talked a lot about pran's new song and about pat asking him to sing the song for him but have we talked about this?

just notice pat's expression. man went through a journey. first he was confused by what pran said then when the boys teased him he laughed then looked back at pran, noticed he was uncomfortable so he took the lead and basically sent the boys off before approaching the subject in his own way with just the two of them.

My toughts on the bet

While watching ep 5 and seeing how Pat came to realize his feelings for Pran, that could have been there for than he thinks, I understood that Pat was being serious and not at all fearful of what he could discover. Once he became aware of his attraction he wanted to find out more and make sure that what he was feeling was indeed romantic feelings for Pran. 

He didn’t hesitate and stayed true to his character impulsive and straight forward. He shouted his frustration to Pran when he was feeling jealous because of the song and was daring enough to want to reveal it all in front of Wai in order to show his dislike and irritation. He didn’t think of any consequences, not the enmity between their friends and faculties or the feud between their parents, he just wanted to communicate his feelings to the person he was facing.

So when he blurted out his confused thoughts on the rooftop (because that wasn’t really a confession) and got to kiss Pran and finally confirm his attraction for him, he had a big smile on his face, for him, this is the answer he was looking for and that kiss told him that he wasn’t alone in this. But like I explained in my previous posts for Pran, it’s a very different story: his character being more reserved and secretive, his upbringing making him exclude the idea of being with Pat and his long time crush gave him the time to process and get used to the idea of just being accomplices together and I also think since he was sure that Pat liked girls and had a long time crush on Ink that also made him confused and didn’t know what to think of what just happened so he just left.

I do believe that if it was Pat who first realized his crush on Pran in high school he would have made his move back then and would have chased him until they got together, he wouldn’t care much for anything rather that what he wants and what felt right to him.

So I think in ep 6 Pat did just that he chased after Pran trying to make him talk about what happened, he teased him, annoyed him, kept doing everything he could think of to let the other person cave and talk to him never giving up even when Pran told him he just didn’t want to discuss it he just kept doing his best to try without forcing him to talk, just showing him that he wasn’t giving up, that it matters to him and he cared, he didn’t want to forget what happened but wanted to explore the possibility of being together and I think this helped Pran get more confident about Pat’s feelings for him, seeing him take this much effort for him let him have some courage to hope for more. 

At the beach scene Pat again confirmed that he never hated Pran and that he just wonders what their lives would have been if their parents weren’t at war with each other and then told him that he doesn’t think he likes Ink romantically.

This I think eased Pran’s mind about the idea of trying something with Pat but there was still fear of being heartbroken so he needed time and that’s what Pat understood so he gave him just that: time to process and get used to everything happening and make sure that it feels right and what better way than a bet, their way of communicating their whole life, in this way they could “safely” explore their feelings with each other at a lower risk cause yeah this just is a bet... Ha !

Ps: I just love the fact that when they were going back and forth in their you like me no you do, Pat did not refuse the claim, even though Pran replied with “no, I don’t like you do” Pat just said fine let’s make a bet then. It is a little thing but that says a lot about them.

My thoughts on Pran’s dealing with his feelings for Pat

In ep 4 we could see Pran getting hurt seeing Pat chasing after Ink but still he didn’t show a jealous reaction like he wasn’t being moody or hurtful to Pat, he kept being his usual self like when Pat choose to model for ink instead of helping at the Bus stop like he promised he would, Pran didn’t blame him or ask him to explain himself he just accepted it, Pat came to give him his dinner and wanted to give him medicine for his shoulder and he let him in, and that is how they got to enjoy that sweet moment between them.

That made me think that this is how Pran has always dealt or maybe now chooses to deal with his feelings for Pat, he has accepted that this is all he is allowed to have, he has no right to ask for more and so he just enjoys every sweet moment he gets with him and keeps his heartbreak and frustration to himself, like when he was playing rugby and imagined his opponent as Pat or when Pat confessed he likes Ink and he just silently cried while looking sweetly and lovingly at Pat’s sleeping face. And yet the next morning he acted like his usual contained self and enjoyed his sweet interactions once again with that oblivious Pat.

He was addicted and could neither move on or confess So the best choice was to pretend and have at least these sweet moments for him to go by.

Pat’s actions towards him have always confused him ( like maybe he feels something, maybe he cares more than he lets on) yet he didn’t confronted him about it before not until ep 5 when Pat almost revealed their friendship in front of his best friend Wai and that is when he lost it because for Pran even though Wai could never compare to Pat but he is still his first close friend the one his mother allowed him to have and he cherished their friendship a lot so having Pat acting that way and jeopardizing it, Pran finally snapped and asked Pat about why he was always acting this way with him? what does he mean by this ? He already told him he likes Ink so why let him have hope? Why act like you care when you don’t? Pran told him we are not a thing since the way you act is how a lover would and then went on that they could not even be described as friends so he really needs to stop being this way with him but against all odds Pat revealed what Pran never dared to hope for … that even though they were raised to be ennemies, Pat never could feel hatred towards him, even though he was the reason he had so much pressure and expectations from his father he still didn’t know how to hate him, he just missed him and felt lonely while he was gone.

Here, Pat who is the kind of person to befriend anyone, to enjoy being social, joking and having fun with the people around felt depressingly lonely because he lost Pran, lost the person he always focused on, the person he was indebted to yet should always be better than And the idiot never questioned it, never thought about it or tried to make sense of it … and I think it is because to him Pran was never someone to love but someone to fight, Pran was a boy and he (Pat) liked girls throughout his teenage years so this too made him never think that he could have romantic feelings for the boy he missed so much.

But remember when Pat thought that it was a girl next door that gave him the tea and tried to flirt with her, he found out that it was Pran, by then he was still oblivious so he just laughed it off, but then he realized something He wrote the note as a He and Pran still came up to the rooftop to meet him, he teased him a bit about it and didn’t show much interest in the matter but I guess he came to realize that Pran could like other boys and that did change something maybe without him realizing it himself.

Afterwards he teased him from time to time like when they were playing rugby and he told him if he (Pran) was afraid of people thinking he was flirting with him since they are talking together and again when he told him that if he is going to hold him this tight he better make him his boyfriend maybe this is just guys comfortably teasing each other but I doubt it.

Going back to the rooftop confession, I think Pat was still trying to understand what he was feeling, he came to realize that he maybe in love with Pran, a boy and the child of his parent’s ennemies.

He felt attraction, jealousy and a need to be with him, to take care of him and tease him.

He needed to make sure that what he was feeling was indeed love and see if it was requited.

When Pran finally asked him if he missed him as a friend if he wanted them to be friends, he at last had his answer and he was sure of it no he didn’t want the boy in front of him to be his friend, he wanted him to be his, he wanted everything, a relationship, to have the right to be with him, kiss him, tease him and make him laugh, complain to him and have him comfort him and also be there for him.

So he took a step forward and Pran did the same, he (Pat) looked at his teary eyes and confident as he is he felt it was right to make his move.

He kissed him softly on the lips, it was a sweet kiss just testing the waters just making sure the other person wanted this. He didn’t dare to take more.

But that kiss made everything clear in his mind.

Pran was not expecting this turn of events, it was almost like he was no longer in control, he really broke down and let go of his walls, he couldn’t help himself, even without being sure of Pat’s feelings for him, what about ink? What about him (Pran) being a boy? Even while thinking of their families and their feud, he just could not stop himself for going for an other kiss and this time it was full of longing and yearning it was a hungry kiss both wanted to convey how they were feeling at the moment, all their torn emotions and their helplessness.

And so after that kiss, Pat as impulsive and straightforward as he is was happy to finally confirm his feelings and know that Pran may feel the same too and Pran was just so devastated by what just happened, he never thought he would loose control like that, he couldn’t process what just happened, his feelings were all over the place and so he chose to run away and build his walls again because he was afraid. When it was just him, he could deal with it, hide it and just enjoy the bittersweetness of it but now he doesn’t know what to do, he knows Pan is a honest person but he also knows he is impulsive and could not be sure if what Pat felt for him is the same as He was feeling. There is also Wai and their friends and theirs faculties. Most of all there is their families so would it be worth it? is what they have worth it ? I think these were his thoughts afterwards.

My toughts on Pran and Pat first meeting

I came back again to talk about Pran’s reaction when meeting Pat again in Uni, he was shocked but not angry. At first, he appeared to just want to distance himself from him but after Pat asked him to cooperate so they wouldn’t have to fight he slowly changed and began accepting of pat’s presence once more in his life, he wore the watch he lost and was returned ti him by Pat and even exchanged phone numbers with him All the while wearing a cute soft smile on his face.

I just wonder what he was feeling At that time?

He met with his first crush or possibly more, a person he knows doesn’t like him and likely wont ever do… yet he was pleased to be able to just be closer to him even with all the secrecy they had to keep.

After every interaction they had, he kept being reminded why he liked this person and just kept falling deeper and deeper for him.

And then there was the time he heard Pat’s father insulting him and his family and warning his son to stay away, he was sourly reminded why there was no chance for them to be together not even as friends and he left with the intention to stay away and protect his heart from getting any more attached to Pat but when that sweet idiot (like Nanon described him once in safehouse as he was wondering how Pat couldn’t see that Pran was in love with him ) came to share some of his (Pran’s) burden with him and suggested to take responsibility this time, Pran‘s resolve couldn’t help but be shaken, yet, when Pat further explained that he mostly wanted to be even with him for saving his sister back then and for having to transfer in high school, Pran was hurt, he didn’t want Pat to help him because he felt indebted to him or out of guilt but because he wanted to, because he cared for him and so that is why I think we could see him getting angry and refusing again to let Pat move out and he just said that since that is how it is then Pat should keep feeling indebted and guilty and that they would never be even.

But again when Pat insisted he didn’t know how to refuse ( in the novel Pran said it loud and clear a person like him could never be able to refuse a person like Pat and I think he meant that he was helpless against Pat from the get go) and so came that sweet moment of him tickling Pat and once again getting a taste of that sweet forbidden fruit.

Bad Buddy the series...sequel?

I see fans of Bad Buddy the series worried about a bad ending or an open ending for the story and whether that would lead to a second season eventually and my take on this is that the series has always felt real without unnecessarily drama or overused shenanigans so I believe the closure it will have wont be much different… it will be the most realistic ending to their story staying true to both characters feelings and emotions.

I personally don’t have any preference as I believe in the director, writers and the whole team and know I will be satisfied and happy for them no matter how the story will turn out to be. But one thing I do agree with and wish for is a special episode or a short second season of a couple of episodes to explore their childhood and high school together … to get more about both their feelings during that time especially once they made the truce in high school and started being on friendly terms, I still don’t know if they were friends or just accomplice helping each other out dealing with their parents pressure.

Of course I would also like to see how Pran came to know his feelings for Pat and how he dealt with them at that young age. Was he scared? ashamed ? Blaming himself for what he was feeling? Did he want to confess at that time? what about seeing Pat dating girls … how did he deal with that cause he was always watching him so he probably knew about it (while they were making their song for the high school festival, Pran asked Pat if he ever had a secret crush on someone and said I know you always end up with the person you like …)

It would also be nice to see how their life is going as an adult couple… did Pat take over the family business like in the novel or did he decide to pursue his own thing, what about Pran did he also became an architect or choose to help their family ? Are they living together? ( cause in the novel they still kept living with their parents and just sneaking into each other rooms to sleep over hhhh)

So a movie exploring their childhood while giving us a glimpse about their future would be much welcomed and so good however I still say that whatever the director and his team have decided for this story and its characters would be the best… they came up with such a simple yet so gratifying story, everything about it is coherent and real so I trust that they would know best how and when to end it.
