god jesse pinkman is so important to me. like int he narrative of breaking bad he’s just continuously manipulated, shown as weak, etc etc. walt basically grooms him. his treatment by the nazis, while it may not literally be sa, is analogous to it- the treatment devoid of respect, being seen by the attacker as less than human, only being valued as an end to be exploited rather than a human being. and this stuff so obviously effects him too. i think he might be the male character I’ve seen cry most on screen, not manly suck-it-in tears, but real vulnerability. he’s manipulated by pretty much everyone,. but the show isn’t about his character being weak. it’s the opposite: jesse pinkman is strong. he’s strong because he likes beetles and wants love and cares about peoples lives. and despite everything horrible that’s happened to him he’s the only one of the main characters that’s left standing by the end of the show. he’s a survivor. he’s strong. how rare is that in not just male but any characters? showing them being the victim, being manipulated, being so deeply affected by that, and not mocking them for it? anyway what I’m trying to say is that jesse strangling todd and escaping to alaska was the most cathartic moment I’ve ever seen on tv and el camino is a cinematic masterpiece
