Dispatch animation! 👍
Z-team polycule fics before work. Save me z-team polycule fics before work
I keep seeing takes that the Dispatch characters are written “too young” for their actual ages. Visy gets the bulk of it — endless posts along the lines of “she’s a 27-year-old woman btw.”
I think people who say that don’t fully understand how growing up actually works. There isn’t some invisible threshold you cross and suddenly get a bonus pack of wisdom, emotional stability, and social skills. The number on your ID guarantees nothing. Adulthood isn’t an age — it’s the ability to change.
And when we’re talking about the Z-team… honestly, it’s hard to imagine an environment where they could’ve grown up “properly” in the first place. Intelligence, charisma, survival skills — none of that equals knowing how to behave in society. They’re literally a bunch of supervillains who don’t even believe they’re capable of changing at all when we first meet them.
What are the odds that someone convinced of their own innate “evil,” like Visy, or someone living on pure anger, like Flambe, or any of them really, would act and think in the “right” way? All of us have our own version of “right,” and so do they. Theirs is just radically different from what people expect.
And that’s what makes Dispatch so compelling: it throws together wildly different, deeply damaged people and lets us watch what happens when they’re given a chance to change. It shows that adults can stumble, screw up, spiral — and still find new reasons to forgive themselves and keep going. Most of us are way closer to messing up than to being morally immaculate.
You don’t have to like a character — that’s okay. But in my opinion, Dispatch does a fantastic job portraying adults as varied and real, without reducing adulthood to sex and swearing as the only markers of “maturity.” And honestly? Media really needs more of that.
Wrong. Flambae.
white man i have been enamoured with your tired energy and sarcastic lines
the fact that Beef has more meat on his bones AND more comfort items than Robert does is very telling of how much that man values his dog vs himself
also please imagine the Z-Team leaving him snacks and take-out on his desk like feral cats. ↓ because they realize Robert is surviving off vending machines and spite [Sonar legit leaves a rat at one point]
Robert's done so much good in the world by being Mecha Man, he deserves to have terrible chronic pain after surviving the explosion/crash that definitely should've killed him!
You know z-team is taking turns staying at Robert’s apartment because “his place is more comfortable” and “want to hang out with Beef” (they really don’t want him to kill himself)
with the power of fandom we can make this a canon tag
My favorite headcanon that I will NEVER let go of is Robert saying some fucked up shit about his life growing up like it's the most casual or normal thing ever and the team is just horrified "Someone get this man a therapist. 👀".
loving that dispatch ao3 has agreed that robert has migranes
Obliterate that twink
(I hope nobodys done this yet)
The fact that Beef has a bed and Robert doesn’t might literally make me go insane. The fact that he’s a chunky little guy because Robert presumably feeds him his own food AND some of his when he begs is going to have me committed. The fact that Robert has a dog—a living little guy to take care of and pamper—but refuses to give himself an INCH while he gives everyone around him 100 fucking miles will kill me, and it will not be an easy death.
If the Z-team doesn’t get their shit together and pick this poor, self-destructively selfless asshole up out of the grave he’s dug himself I’m going to fucking lose it.
