I learned this song on the guitar...wish I brought that guitar to college with me so I could play it again.Â
Untitled 1
I got into touch with an old friend a couple of days ago. Her name is Katy. We were super duper close at an Art Camp where we met. She is one of the few in this world who truly gets and understands me. We don’t talk often, but that is changing. I could not ask for a better friend. Despite our distance, our hearts are tied together. She is a Music Education major at the University of North Texas. She is thriving there and I am so proud of her for being a smart, strong person. If you think being being educated for a career in music is an easy ride, you are wrong. I almost did it, but in the end, I couldn’t. I have so much respect for people like Katy who do it with passion in their hearts and smiles on their faces.
I could write about Katy forever because through some of my happiest memories, she has been right by my side. Where do I begin? We had plenty of inside jokes. Katy and I would always get Naked Juice while we were at the Art Camp. The calories were through the roof but they were always worth it. They were really thick juices, with names like Green Machine, or Blue Machine. For some reason, we became strangely obsessed with Naked Juice. We had to have it every day. I wish I had easier access to that strange liquid today, Blue Machine. With all the calories it holds, it holds even more memories. Memories of Katy and I sitting on her bed, talking about social justice, poetry, YouTube videos, and birth control for hours on end. We have that rare bond where we connect so well we can talk for hours upon hours, even over the phone. I digress. We had another inside joke; we had this thing where we were obsessed with making fun of deodorant crystals. Katy had a beautiful, model-type as one of her roomates at camp. Her name was Hannah, and she was too hipster to function. She was also one of those homophobes that assumed that all lesbians are predatory towards her. Strange, unrealistic way of thinking. Anyway, nice person! The girl had a deodorant crystal. Katy and I thought that was the funniest thing ever. I don’t know why we got such a kick out of that deodorant crystal, but we did. To this day, we have this mutual obsession with deodorant crystals. Making fun of them, to be exact. Those are two of our most memorable inside jokes anyways. I could go on forever.
One of the reasons I am so happy Katy and I got back in touch is that we aren’t just talking and reminiscing. We are making plans; plans to add new memories to our friendship. We wish to go away for Spring Break, to Altus, Lone Wolf, and Hobart. We wish to go experience small-town life together, and meet small-town people with stories to tell. Maybe stay at a cute little motel. And of course, explore the beauty that is Quartz Mountain State Park in Lone Wolf. There is so much we wish to explore. There is a mini-golf course with a cute little snow cone stand attached. (I remember the silver fox snow cone was not to be missed.) We plan to go to the little water park if it is open and the weather is nice, and more importantly, explore the abandoned amusement park next to it. Take some artsy pictures of ourselves and the scenery. One place we wish to explore that holds so much meaning to us is where we made all our previous memories, the Lodge Area and the work of nature that surrounds it, especially the lake. Maybe we can touch the water and not get sent home from the Arts Institute. (haha) Frolic around. And of course, we will drink Naked Juice the entire drive there. Why wouldn’t we? It is our fuel. It literally fueled our friendship. (I am lame, I get it.)

not very far, but that’s okay sometimes
Question For Strangers:
Do you have any not-very-well-known bands that you recommend?
Make up our minds While they're still ours to make The past is in the rear view And the future holds no weight We've got a lot But what do we got to lose? 'Cause I'm losing track of time And I'll be all these shades of blue
we made fun of trees to make ourselves laugh. we bonded over social injustices. we drank gallons of blue machine. we found ourselves in awkward, laughable moments. she curled my hair, she sent me a care package the following year, she did my makeup, even bought me a book, all I ever did was keep in touch. she is the kind of friend I would get a matching tattoo with. I do not deserve this human’s friendship. everyone needs a human like this in their life.
can someone recommend a good tea for me to try? my favorite kind is green and I’m looking to try something new.
Am I the only one who feels like everything is falling apart but coming together at the same time
you are not the only one
it still very much feels like yesterdayÂ
I love you with all my heart
I need to find my way back to the start
thinking about the tiny house I would buy if it weren’t for my future husband and three kids I’m planning to have in the futureÂ
