Kenya is gravely concerned by the announcement made by the Russian Federation to recognise Donetsk and Luhansk Regions of Ukraine as independent states. In our considered view, this action and announcement breaches the territorial integrity of Ukraine. We do not deny that there may be serious security concerns in these regions, but they cannot justify today’s recognition of these regions as independent states. Not when there are multiple diplomatic tracks available and underway that have the ability to offer peaceful solutions.
Mr President, this situation echoes our history. Kenya and almost every African country was birthed by the ending of empires. Our borders were not of our own drawing. They were drawn in the distant colonial metropolis of London, Paris and Lisbon with no regard for the ancient nations that they cleaved apart. Today, across the border of every single African country live our countrymen with whom we share deep historical, cultural and linguistic bonds. At independence, had we chosen to pursue states on the basis of ethnic, racial or religious homogeneity, we would still be waging bloody wars these many decades later. Instead, we agreed that we would settle for the borders that we inherited, but we would still pursue continental, political, economic and legal integration. Rather than form nations that looked ever-backword into history with a dangerous nostalgia, we chose to look forward to a greatness none of our nations and many peoples had ever known. We chose to follow the rules of the Organisation of African Unity and the United Nations Charter; not because our borders satisfied us, but because we wanted something greater forged in peace.
We believe that all states formed from empires that have collapsed or retreated have many peoples in them yearning for integration from people in neighbouring states. This is normal and understandable. After all, who does not want to be joined to the brethren and to make common purpose with them? However, Kenya rejects such a yearning from being pursued by force. We must complete our recovery from the embers of dead empires in a way that does not plunge us back into new forms of domination and oppression. We rejected irredentism and expansionism on any basis including racial, ethnic, religious or cultural factors. We reject it again today.
Kenya registers its strong concern and opposition to the recognition of Donetsk and Luhansk as independent states. We further strongly condemn the trend in the last few decades of powerful states including members of this security council breaching international law with little regard.
COVID is slowly becoming a “third world” disease. While first world countries are hoarding vaccines, having doses for populations many times their size, third world countries can’t get any because pharma companies want to sell to the first world countries first. Even then, first world countries will receive them first. While rich countries recover from COVID, they will forget about the pandemic while many other countries live the absolute worst moment of the pandemic without being able to vaccinate their population.
Watch also when some first world countries finish vaccinating their populations, they will turn to third world countries and “donate” or sell surplus vaccines. People in these countries will go “Oh how sweet! The government is donating vaccines to the poorer countries <3” when it was their hoarding that led to many, many third world citizens dying before they could even get vaccinated in the first place.
african and latin american countries are also pushed by pfizer to give up sovereign assets as part of their vaccine agreement

If the requirements are met, the European Commission will be forced to examine this and take legal action. Real change is a possibility if enough signatures are collected.

just because two female characters have chemistry together does not mean that they HAVE to become canon or the show is automatically queerbaiting you. the way the term queerbait has been bastardized to hell and back is beyond me. do people not use the term 'crackship' anymore? am i old? have i been here too long? lmao. i know that lgbtq+ people have had a rocky relationship with our representation in media but we can just have fun ya know! i promise you we can and we used to do it quite a lot. actresses can acknowledge that they have good on screen chemistry and just have fun with it, just like the fandom does, without it being a Thing™. people can acknowledge chemistry and subtext and enjoy it without it having to become a "they must be canon or else" moment. ESPECIALLY on a show that has main wlw characters that are well developed and individualized characters all on their own! i promise you if they wanted to queerbait you they had much better characters to do it with than tally and alder.... and in this case, i mean i definitely am having fun with jessica and lynn's on screen chemistry but i wud never actually want tally and alder to become canon because it just makes no sense for their characters not to mention how uncomfortable that is in context. alder is 350 yrs old, morally grey and in a huge position of power over tally. tally is 18! EIGHTEEN! she's still a child and a naive and easily impressionable one that just went through some of the most traumatic times of her life. in the context of the show, that relationship wud be FAR from healthy or a logical path for their characters to take, for a number of reasons. but there's a reason there's crackships ya know. like i can't lie, first season of supergirl i def read my fair share of supercat fic and i still have some of my faves bookmarked to this day cus gawd the supercat fandom created some MASTERPIECES but did i ever really want that relationship to be canon on the show? not at all. part of the fun was knowing that it really never wud happen, for many obvious and logical reasons, but i got to explore and have fun with the subtexty moments and the best most interesting parts of their dynamic in all sorts of universes (that made far more sense than the actual context of the characters in the show) through the lens of fandom and it was amazing! these things can just be fun! just, just let it be fun!
that being said, i do think this could possibly open up a conversation about tally's sexual identity in canon which i'm very open to, but it still would not automatically make this queerbaiting.
Also if you wanna go a little further back My Wife and Kids replaced Jazz Raycole with Jennifer Freeman. In fact, for the promotion of the show after the new Clare was cast, they didn’t even bother shooting new pictures; they just put Jennifer’s head on Jazz’s body.

Another fact, Black Hollywood content creators often inflict this problem on their own. That’s why “Insecure”, “I May Destroy You”, “Selah and the Spades” and any number of recent TV shows and movies are important. And it is no coincidence that a lot of these new good projects are created by darker-skinned women who knows what’s up and are centering more sisters on the darker spectrum. Long overdue.
