Totally normal for a legitimate for-profit company to refuse to reclaim or stop running their products even after they're no longer being paid to do so. I'm sure it's very normal to just keep running your service for free when your contract's been terminated. Spending money to continue running cameras that supposedly no one is looking at is definitely not an indicator they are just run by the federal government to spy on everyone and only a wacko conspiracy theorist would think so.
*looks at polyamorous triad* so which of you is the soldier and which is the poet and which is the king
this is the perfect reblog post cancelled
I wonder about whether CombatSecUnits are really all that dangerous as MB believes them to be. Not in terms of ability but in terms of being more “evil” and willfully dangerous than regular SecUnits.
A lot of the stuff that MB believes is just not accurate. It also thinks that all rogues are a huge threat. And it repeatedly claims that even non-rogue units are so so dangerous that they can’t even be allowed to be transported in gunships (only maybe in cargo). And while any person with weapons build into their arms will be dangerous to a certain degree, SecUnits do not appear to be this dangerous at all. Not the rogue ones that show up in the stories but likely also not SecUnits in general. It wouldn’t make sense for the companies to continue using them if they regularly killed all the people.
Sure, that one CombatSecUnit in Exit Strategy told MB that all it wants is to kill MB, but I’m not convinced that this actually shows how dangerous CombatSecUnits are. Let’s be honest, if in one of the earlier stories, MB encountered a rogue unit, it would have tried to kill it, shoot-first-ask-questions-later-style. It talks like that in All Systems Red, when it initially believes that DeltFall might have been murdered by rogue units. It intends to kill those rogue units and even stresses that this is something that it wants to do.
So this CombatSecUnit on TranRollinHyfa might be in a similar position and it just wants to kill this evil, dangerous, no-good, rogue SecUnit that is making the port unsafe. (Of course, maybe it’s just an asshole, that is also possible)

Highlighting that this is “considered quite rare” but in actuality we have absolutely no idea how common this, or indeed a great many variants in sexual development, are. Because if it’s not visible from the outside then we only learn about it if doctors (or coroners) go looking, and doctors only go looking if it’s causing a problem.
Also for clarity’s sake, and because not everyone knows the word, this is called an intersex variation — when the anatomy or genetics of a person do not match perisex expectations
(ie XX ovaries uterus vagina breasts clitoris urethra above vagina, XY penis testicles no breasts urethra in penis)
These men probably faced significant issues in their communities if/when they found out they had a uterus and ovary/ies like ostracisation, harassment, and/or abuse. They are facing immense discrimination, judgement, and intersexism online just about anywhere this is posted.
Yes this is an example of why transphobic (and intersexist) attempts to define ‘female’ and ‘male’ are inaccurate, but these are real people facing real difficulties.
Iceland is fucking bizarre my name change made the news
Like just @ me at this point I'm literally the only person in iceland (and very possibly the world) who has the first name Lauf
(Article title reads "Lauf and Birningur in group of new names in the name register")
No one lives here so now two of our biggest news outlets are vagueing about me lmao
Hmm you're right. Correction: two of our biggest media outlets are talking about me specifically because they are obsessed with me
This morning I showed up to work and my boss was like "congratulations :))" and I was kinda confused so asked her on what and she said "your name, I heard about it on the radio"
So far I have counted two online articles and apparently the radio is also talking about my name change so I'll keep you guys updated when I'm on national tv or something
With a little legwork we can make more people on Tumblr see this than the entire population of Iceland.
5001 being divisible by 3 doesnt feel right
Shortcuts to determine if an integer is divisible by:
This is a given.
If the last digit is divisible by 2 (a.k.a. even), then so is the whole number.
If the sum of the digits is divisible by 3, then so is the whole number. The recursivity of this means that if the sum has multiple digits, you can add them up again until you get a single digit and see if it's 3, 6, or 9.
Like the rule for 2, but check if the last two digits are divisible by 4.
If it ends in 5 or 0.
If the rules for both 2 and 3 apply.
No shortcut. Alas.
Like the rules for 2 and 4, but check if the last three digits are divisible by 8. (Yes, this pattern keeps going for 16, 32, etc.)
Like the rule for 3, but the sum of the digits (or the sum of the sum of the digits, etc.) must be 9.
If it ends in 0.
#THIS POST IS WRONG 7 DOES HAVE A RULE FOR HOW TO TELL IF THE NUMBER IS DIVISIBLE#it's just. not a short cut#you're better off dividing it and seeing if you get a whole number than doing the method
but what IS the rule @anqelbean ???
Okay, so, basically, you remove the least important digit of the number (which is the first digit from the right), you double it, and then subtract it from the remaining number. If the number you get is still large, you do it again.
For example, 294
29 4
4×2=8
29-8=21
21 is divisible by 7
Second example, 1946
194 6
6×2=12
194-12=182
182 is still large, so let do it again
18 2
2×2=4
18-4=14
14 is divisible by 7
I checked, the book is real.
europeans be like “omg north americans are so racist it’s horrible” and then elect fascists
I would like to emphasize that I agree with all of these tags by the way. My post wasn't aiming to pin all of Europe's grotesque racism on the new elections.
A few weeks ago I was at a board game night with some of my old classmates from various mainland European countries. They started talking about how horrible Trump's treatment of immigrants is and how they're so glad to be in Europe where nothing like that is happening right now. I asked them what they thought about the fact that their own governments were complicit in turning the Mediterranean into a mass grave of asylum seekers, and some of them legitimately didn't even know and were surprised to hear that their own governments had enacted policies that caused the deaths of thousands of asylum seekers.
Even here in Iceland, almost nobody has been talking about the fact that some of the far right populist parties have legitimately been talking about wanting to establish detainment camps to keep asylum seekers in.

This post is a few months old now, and the bit about Iceland is now outdated, because Alþingi (the Icelandic parliament) passed the bill approving the detention center for asylum seekers. It will be legal to handcuff and detain children there.
Never let anyone from Europe feed you the lie that racism and fascism are unique to North America in the 21st century.
This post made racists angry enough to harass me over it, which all that's going to do is make me bring this post back and reblog it more.
hey don't cry. think about Blorbo struggling to get up, coughing up blood <3
When you research Taylor Farms (cyclospora outbreak), these are the things you find—and this is just from me skimming:
We are talking about a true "Lettuce Monarchy." CEO Bruce Taylor is the grandson of Thomas Church, a mid-century "Lettuce King." This single family has controlled the U.S. packaged salad market for nearly a century through Taylor Farms & Fresh Express, operating a direct, tightly locked supply network with massive fast-food juggernauts like McDonald's & Chipotle. They use this corporate exclusivity to control exactly what agricultural data makes it to the public, shielding a multi-billion-dollar brand from legal accountability.
But behind that clean retail label is a massive history of exploitation, severe safety violations, & corporate cover-ups.
It starts with their "Permanent Temp Trick." The company uses third-party agencies like Slingshot Connections & Abel Mendoza, Inc. to keep assembly-line workers classified as "temporary" for up to 15 years, systematically denying them benefits, job security, & raises. When confronted with these massive federal civil rights violations, Bruce Taylor famously went on record defending this temp-agency pipeline, claiming those thousands of laborers have plenty of federal protections.
When they aren't exploiting the temp loophole, they are looking elsewhere. They’ve partnered with state transitional prison labor programs, notably in Arizona, to use incarcerated individuals to sort & pack salad kits for national grocery chains.
Even worse is how they treat the vulnerable workers they do hire. Between 2019 & 2023, two HR managers at their Automated Harvesting LLC subsidiary orchestrated a massive internal $3 Million Visa Fraud Scheme. The duo generated & cashed over 1,800 fraudulent checks totaling more than $3 million, intentionally stealing the identities of vulnerable Mexican migrant workers who had already returned home on expired visas. Following a deep district attorney investigation, both employees finally pleaded no contest to felony embezzlement in June 2026.
The disregard for human life inside their facilities is staggering. In late 2025, federal OSHA hit Taylor Farms New Jersey with a massive $1.12 million fatality fine after a worker was killed cleaning machinery. Inspectors uncovered 16 "willful & repeated" safety violations regarding hazardous machinery maintenance, proving that corporate leadership completely bypassed basic, legally mandated workplace safety protocols & intentionally neglected "lockout/tagout" rules—which cut power to heavy equipment during cleaning.
Then there is the Tracy, CA chemical spill cover-up at Taylor Farms Pacific. Plant managers tried to hide a toxic chlorine gas leak that hospitalized 20 people. Instead of evacuating, managers passed out cheap paper dust masks & ordered staff to keep working on the line. Workers had to bypass management entirely just to call 911.
When workers tried to unionize after that terrifying spill, management engaged in extreme retaliation to kill the effort. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) had to step in after finding the branch illegally spied on workers, fired organizers, & hired high-priced anti-union consulting firms to threaten immigrant employees with ICE if they tried to unionize. Bruce Taylor publicly labeled the national Teamsters Union campaigns "frivolous" & claimed it was all a smear tactic.
The discrimination inside is deeply systemic. A massive federal civil rights lawsuit detailed that upper management deliberately forced African American employees into entirely separate break areas. Company leadership was caught systematically burying internal racism & discrimination complaints, leaving workers completely isolated until they finally banded together for a massive 70-page class-action lawsuit.
The public is kept completely in the dark about the dangers. Taylor Farms was tied to major multi-state E. coli outbreaks in 2025 where federal regulators at the FDA & CDC identified Taylor Farms romaine lettuce as the source—but actively hid the company's identity from the public.
How do they get away with it? Bruce Taylor acts as a political puppet master. He pours tens of thousands of dollars into highly calculated local political action committees—like the "Protect Salinas" PAC—to sway California city council elections. Local watchdog groups have flagged his financial contributions as direct attempts to capture local governments & block regulations on agricultural land use & labor.
On top of that, Taylor sits on heavily funded national agricultural boards & trade association PACs—like the Western Growers Association—to heavily lobby congress against strict federal worker-safety laws.
This is what you're actually supporting when you buy those grocery store salad kits spreading cyclospora.
Metahuman with super healing powers whose entire job is that once a week they go to a nearby hospital and are put into a medically induced coma for 24 hours while all their organs and blood are harvested, and kept there until they've healed up again.
They get paid a small stipend by the Heroes Council for this, and they live off that.
No crime fighting, no obvious heroics, and they only took a Super Identity because it's technically hero's council policy. Nobody's ever seen them in a cape.
Every so often the Heroes council will release an official report to the public, and there'll be another bunch of news articles wondering how some unknown super calling themselves 'Meat Factory' somehow consistently holds the record for most lives saved across the city.
It is essential to my vision that they are not at all sanctimonious about this.
Like, they regularly act like they're getting away with something. They joke about how they get to earn money in their sleep. They show up to their hospital visits in deliberately ridiculous disguises, on the excuse that they need to 'protect their identity'.
Part of their employment contract is that they get served the same post-operation vanilla ice cream that they normally hand out on the childrens' ward. Also a sticker. Their overnight bag is covered in stickers.
Okay, Meat Factory is awesome and hilarious, but if they're being harvested for and regenerating absolutely everything, may I suggest an alternative super name: Theseus.
this is what solarpunk means to me. You find a printer. You fix it. You ask someone to please take it off their account and then they do and let you know. Beautiful. 100/10, wish printers didn't have to be tied to accounts in the first place but this is nice.
While the giant bill was fake, it represented a very real accomplishment. The group raised more than $17,000, which purchased more than $1.6 million in medical debt owed by Philadelphians, according to their nonprofit partner RIP Medical Debt.

This is a great way to undermine the system that we are trapped in
The fact that this can be done at all shows how utterly bullshit the entire system is. There was literally no reason for that medical debt to exist in the first place.
Let's say you owe a private hospital ten thousand dollars, but you have very few assets, so they're pretty sure they're never getting any of that back. There's ninety nine other people who also each owe the hospital ten thousand dollars. (It doesn't have to be a hospital; any debt can be sold this way.) The hospital has shit to do and the low chances of you paying them mean it's an unnecessary drain on their time and resources to hound you all for it. But they can get *some* money, by selling your debt to a third party.
Let's say the sell each ten thousand dollar debt for ten dollars (I'm making all these numbers up for simplicity). So a third party gives the hospital one thousand dollars, and now all hundred of you owe that third party ten thousand instead! You're in the clear with the hospital, you owe it to these guys now! And their job is to hound and harrass you for the money you owe. If one of you pays up more than a thousand dollars, you've covered their initial investment. These guys are gambling on the likelihood that enough of you can pay your debts that you make it worth the time they spend tracking you and harrassing you.
Or, instead of trying to get the money out of you, they can just... decide you don't owe them. Why not? They own the debt. They can fork out a thousand bucks, buy a million in debt, and forgive it. That's what these guys did. (This is also a favourite move of John Oliver; if you ever see headlines about John Oliver forgiving debt, this is what he's doing). A small payment can take a massive weight off the shoulders of a lot of struggling people.
Again, I made up the numbers to simplify the math. But this is how the process works.
seventeen thousand dollars to buy SIXTEEN MILLION DOLLARS OF DEBT. Absolutely FUCKED at how cheap our misery and servitude is.
thing is, the debt companies *hate* this, because it means that it gives hope to people saddled with unimaginable debt that someone will come along and buy that debt and cancel it. So more people don't pay their debts, and they lose money. Debt buying companies do their *damnedest* to keep people like these philadelphhians and john oliver from doing exactly this.
you can do this too! Follow OP's link to https://ripmedicaldebt.org/ and donate whatever you can. For every $1 you donate, they buy $100 of debt and cancel it. I donate $10 each month just to get that amazing email that says I've been personally responsible for cancelling $1000 of medical debt - it's genuinely the best $10 I spend each month 😊
RIP Medical Debt makes it easy for donors to make an impactful difference in the lives of those struggling with medical debt.
the countries they're calling the racist hellholes vs the actual racist hellholes
westerners twisting facts to fit their tiny insulated worldview omg "this bad thing that never happened in this savage country is definitely like this bad thing that actually happened in my much elevated civilized one" sorry for forgetting this is the idiot website again it won't happen again
