It was initially just a book about a fae outcast in his community who lived underneath an old house with a built in fae door. It was common practice for houses to have a tiny fae door underneath the steps to the front door, so the fae could have a place to stay without bothering the owners of the home. The fae made a whole town underneath this house and had many shapes and sizes. Mostly after bugs. Our main guy had blue mandibles and lanky body with some fluffed hair. He loved humans and loved watching them. Especially one human girl who always was kind to the insects and fae. As humans had lost the ability to distinguish them long ago. He had feelings for her after he was accidentally found by her. He thought she would squish him like so many humans had done to others before. But she gently scooped him up saying “aww lil cutie. you can’t be on my desk right now. Here. You can stay here for now” placing him on a shelf across the room.
Anyway, there were other gases too. One fae was best friends with our main blue guy, he was similar to a flea but had some dog characteristics as well. He was a very chill dude who had pug like pill bugs who helped pull his cart around. He had three of these guys. One was older and didn’t pull the cart while the other two were younger and did. Then there was the spider like fae. One was a woman who was angry with the human world and wanted to conquer it. To treat them like how they had started treating the fae. The humans had forgotten to respect the fae and she wanted them to pay. She had a slave/underling who lived in a locked room most of the time. He was also a spider like fae. Both were fluffy but she had more spike fluffs while he had pale fuzz. Anyway, he longed for the day to be useful for his mistress as he loved her and would do anything for her.
One day a strange ant fae man comes to the town and gives our main guy and his friend a small glass filled with a mysterious liquid. He takes a syringe with the liquid and explains it can make humans shrink and fae grow. He trusts the two with it and tells them he can’t protect it like he used to. As he was lucky to save this vial. Apparently the spiders had attacked him for his belongings and found a vial of the stuff and took off with it. He then says that a special moon is coming and wonders if the legend will happen too. They ask about the legend and he explains that there is a story about two fae: one a wise wizard and another a traveling swordsman. They protect the liquid and one day use it to speak with humans on their level. However one night a the moon seems to be wrong, almost mirrored. Another fae took the liquid and found that they can gain new abilities if the vial is used in this moonlight. They use it and create an army to take over the world. The two heroes fight back, but ultimately fail until a third unknown hero saves them. The ant fae explains that the third hero is lost to time.
The two take the vial and think about using it to explore the human world. So they make a plan and sneak out to do so, stating that the story can’t come true since neither are a wise wizard or a swordsman. They take it and flea fae gives some to his pets as well. They grow and look at themselves as they now look more human. There are still signs that they aren’t like the blue marks on the main guys face, and the strange hairs on his friend. But they decide to try their luck anyway. They roam around and find a party happening, the pop in and everyone happily lets them. They mingle about and find out how to play video games and even surf. The flea fae gets super excited about surfing while our main guy loves the video games. While at said party the main fae notices a girl and realizes it’s her, the human from the home he lives under. That’s when a random dude grabs him and takes him over to where she and a group are hanging out. The dude loudly explains that this guy is super good at video games. This peaks the groups interest and they ask him all sorts of questions that lead to him being part of the group.
As he gets close with the group the girl also gets close to him, finding him interesting. Eventually the party dies down and everyone goes home. Our main fae offers to walk the girl home, meanwhile his friend is having the time of his life on the waves while the humans are wondering how he has all this energy.
Meanwhile, The two spider fae find out about the vials properties and use it on themselves. The woman then remembers the old story she was once told. She decides to find out when this special moon appears and to use it to take over the human world. She also sends her minion to study the human. He freaks out but gladly goes out to study them, falling into the same group as the two hero fae. Although he looks human, he has an extra pair of arms which he hides under his shirt. He also feels lucky that his hair was short as his mistress’s human hair betrays her disguise.
Later on the two fae and human have a tight friendship and one day one of the other human friends come back with a VR game inspired by the girl’s home. This guy talks about the tiny door on her front steps and how it was believed to be for the fae. And that he made a game where you go through said door and walk around a forgotten fae home, overrun with insects. The fae are freaking out but the girl happily tries the game. That’s when the main guy notices a small ant climbing her shoulder, and then it does a motion of stabbing. She feels the prick and takes off the headset to see the ant. She huffs and says that it was rude. One guy says he’ll get rid of it lifting his hand to slap it but both the girl and main fae quickly say no. Both shocked by the other’s reaction. She explains that the guy was probably scared and deserves to live. One shouldn’t die because they acted in fear. The main fae agrees and both walk out to let the ant go. However the main fae knows this isn’t an ant but rather the ant fae who have him the vial. She then tells everyone to leave cause she’s not feeling it today. So quickly without the girl noticing he takes a quick drop of the liquid and waits.
The girl places the ant down before getting woozy. That’s when the flea fae appears and asks what’s up. The main fae quickly explains and the flea fae decides to help. He does his whistle to call his cart (who then hides in the grass nearby) All three start to shrink down to the fae size. The ant and cart are sitting there waiting for them. The girl looks around panicked. She touches her face and realizes that no, she isn’t in the game. She looks at the three fae and asks what’s happening. They explain and the main fae explains that he and the flea fae are the two new humans in her group of friends. He apologizes to her saying he didn’t want to trick her but he didn’t know if she’d freak out. She is understandably shaken up but asks why this happened. They turn to the ant fae and he explains that there is trouble with the spider fae. The spider fae know of the legend and wish to stop the heroes. However they think that cause swordsmen and wizards don’t exist anymore that they can get away with it.
They plan to kidnap the girl and use her in their plan. But the ant doesn’t know why. That’s when everyone thinks that perhaps the third hero is a human.
The ant then explains that he believes that the two fae are the heroes. The main guy a swordsman in the games he plays and how quick his movements are. And the flea a wise wizard who gives advice and understand lesser fae. Which quickly makes the flea shout that his pups aren’t lesser faes but equals who are very important and strong and “how dare you say that about my babies”
Anyway they make a plan while showing the human around the home underneath her home. She is fascinated by it and finds it beautiful, Much to their relief.
However they made one mistake, the spider minion swoops in and takes the girl saying he needs her for his mistress. Both fae heroes try to chase after him but ultimately fail. The spider minion takes her to his mistress and the mistress tells him how good he has been. Now he should take the girl back to his cell and wait there for her command. He is upset but follows her orders, while mumbling about why he can’t join her on her planning. He thought that through the week of spying for her, he would be seen as equal by now. They go into his cage of a room and sit in silence. The human asks if he’s okay and says he looks familiar. He explains how he snuck his way into her friend group to spy on the other two fae. But his master won’t believe him when he says that the two are the heroes of that story for whatever reason. He starts to say he thinks he might just be stupid or something when the human quickly shuts that down. Saying she noticed how he, even though he was a spy, did the job very well. She even mentions how she caught him looking at books or at the sky above in amazement before quietly asking him if he’s been inside here forever. He nods and starts to explain how he was saved by his mistress but before he could he feels the human gives him a hug. He asks what she is doing and she is shocked to learn he has never been given affection. So she starts to teach him about it, and he asks more questions. Before long the two are having a conversation about relationships and even the sky and the stuff in both of them.
Meanwhile the heroes make a plan to stop the spider mistress. They sneak to her lair and plan to confront her before the special moon arrives that night. The confront her and she gives a long speech about why humans don’t deserve the world. She then reveals the vial and it immediately gets hit by the moon’s beam. She laughs and chugs the whole thing. She gains the ability to create hundreds of minions that are some weird combo of spider, centipedes and fleshy bits. The two hero fae fight the minions and try to get to her but ultimately fail. “Just like the story foretold” she cackles. She knew they were the heroes but knew they didn’t have the abilities of them. So she wasn’t worried about it, cause how could a weak beetle wield a sword and how could a surfing flea cast a spell. The third hero is locked up with her minion. In fact, she calls for her slave to come out with the human. He does so and looks at her in shock that she took all of the vial. She laughs and says of course but that it doesn’t matter now that the heroes have failed, they never had a chance.
She starts mocking them and states that her stupid minion could do better than them and even then he was distracted half the time. The spider fae looks down with sad eyes, he asks if she cares about him. She states that not really and that it doesn’t matter now. She can replace him. This hits him hard and his heart breaks. Before he says he was never happy in his cage, that when he was free, even for a little while, it was wonderful. Then he straight up attacks the mistress and takes her down. Biting her and injecting a venom into her. They were two different kinds of spiders after all, too bad she never realized he had a deadly venom. She shrieks and throws him back crashing into the wall, and the human runs over to check him. The mistress tries to grab the human shouting how she is truly terrible for using him as a tool against her. But before her hand grabs the human a spear is launched through her hand. She gasps and looks as that same liquid in the vial mixes with her blood. She looks over at the two other fae and sees them grinning. The main fae’s arm is outstretched while the flea fae is laughing while shouting “I CAST WIZARD STAFF THROW” She screams as she shrinks back down, her army disappears, and everyone watches as she curls up and dies.
The group climb up to where the human and spider are and realize that the human was never the third hero, the spider fae was. They worry about if he is ok and the human quickly asks to be grown back, saying she can get them out of the garage quicker and inside where she has stuff to help him. They agree and grow her back to normal. She gently scoops them all up and runs back inside to get bandages and medicine. Placing them down and handing them the stuff, she quietly helps them without touching.
Days past and the fae come to visit their human friend. Who is seen taking care of the spider and teaching him more things, like how to read. She is also seen typing up a story, a story about the adventure. The fae telling her facts about them and things they did.
That’s when it is revealed that the book was 1: A children’s book and 2: was written by the human as a way to show that the fae are still around and deserve respect
I kinda wanna like actually write this dream as a book cause there was way more to it than this but like I REALLY condensed it here lol
ALSO it’s the first dream I had that had an ACTUAL ending
