You have no idea how happy this little conversation made me. The reason is acutally ST Voyager: in this show there are sooo often problems that could have been easily solved with the transporter, but unfortunately Voyager’s transporters are down at the moment. But nobody ever thinks of the transporters on the shuttles or runabouts. At least the class 2 shuttle/type-9 shuttlecraft has a transporter…

DS9 on the other hand thought about the transporter on the Defiant to solve the problems and even came up with a belivable reason for a delay: Quark not wanting to spend money on repairs which results in Rom improvising.
