Tanong po. What can you say about teachers who teach Philippine history and don't do it right? Like for example they get too biased to a certain historical figure that they make the children be biased to that figure too.

Well, grade school in SSAM taught us to be thankful to our dear colonizers for making the country civilized. I’d say that I hate those kinds of teachers, and I hate how they make students conform to or look at a certain situation while only seeing one side. Sa ganitong kultura natin na-nurture kasi yung bawal magtanong sa magulang, bawal magkaroon ng ibang opinyon, bawal magkaroon ng gray areas at otherwise aspects. Teachers who are biased to a certain historical figure should be asked by the students questions that would allow both parties to explore the possibilities and other elements of history. Kung magalit yung teacher, pwede ninyo siyang sabihan na sabi kasi sa further research mo ganito o ganiyan. It’s good to have evidence back you up. Academic discussions aren’t meant to be one-sided and monologue-like.

Hi po Ate Adrienne! Uhh i need your help po kasi. You've been one of my role models and I want to be like you when I grow up. The thing is I keep on ranting about politicians especially Duterte. Many people are making fun of me including my friends and they say im overreacting. And Duterte's statements are just "jokes". I am too afraid to stand up for myself. How do you do it?

I just stop giving a shit about what people say, I guess? Hindi ko masasabi na madaling gawin ‘yon. I’m still very afraid of what people say about me. But the thing is, I kind of see it as a public service and a try at starting discourse and discussion whenever I speak out. Ineexpect ko na na may ibang opinyon sila. Ang gagawin mo na lang, maging approachable ka at open sa diskusyon. Those people who treat what you say as jokes aren’t people who could give you good insight and knowledge kasi wala silang sineseryoso sa iyo. I think you should keep going with speaking out, and find courage in yourself.
