Do Away with the Archivists and Resellers

As time goes on society likes to reminisce on certain things even though they weren’t a part of it but make an attempt and just fxck it up. Kinda like what the Latinos did with Jamaica’s music creating Reggae’ton’.

Culture vultures.

There’s this toxicity going around about brands being copycats of others with no one having any knowledge of each brands’ history much less fashion in general.

Brands like 14th Addiction, Le Gran Bleu, ifsixwasnine, Share Spirit being correlated with Tornado Mart, Buffalo Bobs, Vanquish, Jackrose and Midas.

All these brands are different aesthetics and demographics BUT are in the same fashion category (Contemporary). The categories are as follows (Most expensive to cheapest);

Haute Couture

Ready to Wear

Contemporary

Mass Market (Fast Fashion)

Economy

Some of these brands released before others completely cancelling out the whole ‘copycat’ theory also the hate speech of them being ‘fast fashion’.

They’re all simply from the same time so there are similarities aside from their specific aesthetics and demographics but some brands stayed limited while others CHOSE to capitalize like Buffalo Bobs, Midas etc. AFTER putting in years of work.

Buffalo Bobs originated in 1995 and capitalized in 2005 while L.G.B in 1999 and stayed limited. Buffalo Bobs is a sleek adult style while L.G.B is more like a ‘pirate’ rockstar.

Midas released in the early 1990’s as a Glam Rock/Host style while ifsixwasnine released in 1997 as an avant-garde gothic rockstar.

Vanquished released in 2004 as Shibuya streetwear and 14th Addiction in 2007 as ‘post-apocalyptic nomad’.

Gyaru-o used all these brands in the way that they did and really popularized them via the substyles they created and magazines. It’s because of us they have the kind of traction that they do now with these stupid resellers and archivists capitalizing off of our culture.

These are just a few of the brands that they would know but our list is of 150+, some that YES were fast fashion created specifically off the hype of the culture to make money (Or ‘mall brands’ they say) but the ones that they do talk shxt on aren’t that.

I encourage every gyaru-o, v-kei and Japanese subculture within the niche to really stand up for us cause a lot of people are talking down AND misinforming on the brands that built our cultures.

It’s people that are new just tryna be cool who prolly won’t be around within the next year or so after realizing the culture will get tired of their infection, swooping up and reselling overpriced contemporary items to us who really live this life.
