i started watching supernatural for the first time like a week ago i feel super late ....... i wanted to try and draw sam + dean
28 is the oldest you can get in your 20s. 29 is crazy young like leave them alone weirdo. 30 is old 31 is super young
i’ve been thinking about this and desperately searching for it for months
just wanted to doodle him... that is all ,, unfortunately i don't think there's a demand for john winchester art
Sometimes you know you should be a good boy but also do not want to. Which is to say Mount Sinai sent me a survey about sexuality in trans people that did not have aromantic as an option. And then at the end said "we'll also be doing some focus groups, so let us know if you're interested in those." And I do not actually want to, especially because this is a study that is not paying me for it, buttttttt it's good and important to say "hey if you're asking about orientation, you should be fucking talking about aromanticism and including it as an option." So I get to sit through a focus group.
This is really fun because one person in the group is basically exactly the opposite of me. And I feel like knowing your exact mirror exists is really validating for proving you're allowed to be who you are and how that's also a thing, you know?
Okay yeah I really enjoyed that and feel like I made valuable contributions. And I liked just getting to hear other trans people who I wouldn't have met otherwise talk about their experiences. But also like... especially fascinating that for me, I have the experience of having my gender wrong for a long time because I'm attracted to women, and so I looked in the mirror and was like "well of course I like my body. I'm fucking hot. I'm a hot woman" and so my sexuality made my gender confusing, and someone in the group talked about the exact opposite experience of how for her, she finds it really really hard to have any idea who she's attracted to because so often she thinks she's attracted to women and it's just gender envy, so she's not really sure if she has a preference for women or is bi or ace because her gender screws it up. And that was just like. It makes my own experience feel a lot more valid that the inverse also exists. I didn't realize that experience had a mirror opposite, but I love knowing that it does and it's out there.
It's kinda like how I feel so much kinship with both trans masc lesbians and butch trans women, who are like "yeah, I'm masculine, but not in the way men are, in the way queer women/lesbians are" because like. Yeah that's me but with femininity. The reason they aren't men despite being masc is the exact same reason I am a man despite being femme--I'm feminine in the way queer men are, not women. The existence of the reverse of me proves and validates my own existence.
And this is also why aroallo and alloace solidarity is one of the most beautiful experiences in the world. We both agree that it's stupid that sex and romance are tied together in society, and we both know how weird it is to exist while experiencing one but not the other in a society that expects both. It's just that which one we have and which one we don't is opposite.
Or hell, even why I find it so interesting and novel to watch my wife just like, exist, because I'm totally loveless and aplatonic and aromantic and she is so overflowing with love and attraction to so many people. It's like. Wow. Look at that. Look at how different from me a person is allowed to be. That's beautiful, and it makes me feel so much more secure in myself.
So yeah anyway shout out to people who are opposite to me in ways that actually make me feel like we are in fact the same.
my insider funeral knowledge is that if you're gonna get an obituary written, you should probably ask if they're using an AI tool to write it. because most funeral homes are now. and if you don't want your loved one's obituary to be regurgitated AI slop, you might have to specifically ask them not to use it. or to write it yourself, because they might just use it anyway and lie to you that they didn't.
He’s been dead for 8 seasons but the hate everyone has for John Winchester is still burning strong
13 years later, we’re still hating on him. 21 years dead and he hasn’t gotten any more popular
can you imagine how good shows would be if writers thought of women as human beings
once you recognize the pattern of black men on spn being killed (half the time immediately!) it’s impossible to unsee it
and yes, this post is absolutely about all the named characters you’re thinking of (jake talley, gordon walker, victor henriksen, rufus, uriel, raphael, etc.). but it’s also about every unnamed extra or minor single episode side character. pay attention and you’ll notice that if a Black man shows up in the monster of the week intro, 90% of the time he’ll be dead by the title card. and if a Black man is introduced halfway through the episode with some other side characters, he’ll be the one sam and dean DON’T manage to save from the monster of the week. it’s through the whole run of the show, too.
The suburbs dream of violence. Asleep in their drowsy villas, sheltered by benevolent shopping malls, they wait patiently for the nightmares that will wake them into a more passionate world.
—J.G. Ballard, Kingdom Come
"From these made-up horrors, these fictionalized enemies, he had created a villain worthy of the violent bravado that he imagined he would display if confronted by said villain. This web of racist lies was what he needed to make himself seem like a man. He invented a story about bad guys who were out to get him, and he repeated it to himself and others until he believed it. Then he made up another story- of himself as hero, defending himself and his family against this violent threat- and he repeated that one until he believed it too. Brian wrote himself into his own American westen, a world of cowboys and Indians, cops and robbers. And for a man with no job, few friends, and a family that couldn't stand him, pretending to be a main character in violent American mythology was as close to belonging as he was ever going to get."

i just don't think 16 minutes is going to cover it
I always think of the description I saw years ago: Self-imposed deadlines don't help me, because I know the person who set them, and they're full of shit.
