We have no choice in who we are, only the illusion of it, we have somehow the ability to witness ourselves and have “opinions” on who we are and suffer over it because it doesn’t satisfy our egos, but no real say in it, who you are is just the random combination of factors beyond your control—the culture you were born into, the hormones you were exposed to in your mom’s belly, the way she treated the pregnancy, the diseases you were born with or inherited, the environment you grew up in, the education you received, the reality you witnessed, the reality you currently exist in, the hormones that influence and hijack your brain—you have a say in exactly none of it so what are you really but a witness to your own decay? You either happen to be born lucky or you get to suffer and experience the life of a loser, there is no such thing as “building yourself up from the bottom” if you aren’t predisposed to it—you just won’t. Winning was always just a game of chance, you think you’re playing chess, it’s not even poker, it’s just throwing dice.
You’re just a passenger and your “self” aka your body and what happened to it is what’s really driving the car. You exist only to suffer the consequences of it crashing, all that is left to do is enjoy the view, if you’re lucky enough to be on a beautiful road.
We worship the lucky thats all that it is, the genetically and geographically gifted, we were all 2 percentages away from being disgusting rapists in the bottomless pit of humanity
Is even the passenger free to form its own opinions about the view or is it driven by the same mechanism, there is no freedom, there is just witnessing
I once again bring to you my fav version of the trolley problem meme:
