Hohenzollern castle in Germany is the ancestral seat of the Hohenzollern family, which emerged in the Middle Ages and eventually became Prussian emperors.

The castle is located on top of Berg (Mount) Hohenzollern at an elevation of 855 meters and was first constructed in the first part of the 11th century.

Among the historical artifacts of Prussian history contained in the castle today are the crown of Wilhelm II and some of the personal effects of Frederick the Great and a letter from US President George Washington thanking Baron von Steuben, a scion of the House of Hohenzollern, for his service in the American Revolutionary War. The castle is today a popular tourist destination.

So it’s been a week since I’ve returned from Italy! It was a wonderful trip! I had the most amazing gastronomic experience, exhausted from doing too much historical fangirl dance, but above all, encountered some really friendly people!

Seeing so many of my favourite art pieces made me want to weep happily on the ground, but Tuscany and Val di Funes left me the biggest impressions. I would love to go to Funes again if I ever go to Innsbruck or Munich…

The stereotype of Italian inefficiency turned out to be quite true, but Trenitalia is one exception. Intuitive and convenient to use, I was able to make all the tight connections, plus the staffs were all so helpful! So have an Italy in Trenitalia uniform before I head off to continue sorting through my 2717 photos, and hopefully serves as a warm up as I’ve forgotten how to draw.

There will be detailed trip reports posted here on tumblr, all will be put under a cut and tagged, so those who are not interested can blacklist or unfollow. I’m behind on answering asks, but will get around to them eventually!

But yes, Trenitalia is a good service, they changed the price and it’s more expensive these years but it’s good anyway because you can really go everywhere using a train.
