Dear Future Wife Vol. 6
Hey you, I'm sorry. I don't think we'll ever meet. Not even knowing the new Avengers movie is out in less than 100 days makes me want to live to tomorrow. I gave up fourteen minutes ago. -Mio
Dear Future Wife Vol. 5
Hey beautiful, I'm writing to ask you a weird favor actually... "Please don't meet me yet." I just...I haven't been me lately. I'm pretty sure the last few months have been the darkest, most trying time of my life so far and I'm afraid that I'm kinda broken. I feel like I'm not me right now and I don't want you to meet this guy masquerading as me. I've been beaten down several different ways in every avenue of life and to be honest...kind of close to giving up. Whenever I think about it, [which is more often than I'd like to admit], I really feel like I don't want to push through. I don't want to see tomorrow, I don't want to see next week, next month, next year and at the worst, I don't believe there is a tomorrow for me. I get zoned in a way where I feel like this is as good as it's gonna get for me and "hoping for a future" is a classy way to say "lying to myself." I've never been this close to giving up before and the scary thing is that it's seemed like a reasonable decision on more than one occasion lately. This hopelessness version of me? It's terrible. I feel so fake around my friends. It's weird that I'm surprisingly grateful for how good I am at lying because nobody knows very few people know that I'm going through this. I hold myself high and lie to myself about how I feel, because it's safe. I'm not used to anyone worrying about me and I feel guilty when they do. So suffice to say, this is not the me I want you to meet. I want you to meet me where I was last year, last July, or God, even last August. That was genuinely me. The 'me' that I'm happy to be and the 'me' that I'm proud of. He's the guy that's gonna fall in love with you. But the 'me' now? The Sept-Dec 2014 version of me? I'm not in any shape to take care of anyone. I'm relying on people to hold me up and I'm at the point where I need people to tell me that I'm good; over, and over, and over again because I have the biggest difficulty believing it the first gagillion times. I'll bounce back to me again. At least I'm planning to. And when that time comes, then that's when we should meet. Then we can have our first conversation where I embarrass myself by saying something, tripping over something, or talking with my foot in my mouth. Then you can respond by laughing at me, rolling your eyes and wondering how did a guy like me manage to dress himself that morning. It'll be great, I promise. But not yet. Not now. Let me get myself together. I don't think I'm ready to fall in love yet. Then again, you know me better than I know me. If you feel right now is right, then let's do it. God knows I need you right now. Or...maybe we've already met. And I'm too much of a dumb-ass to recognize you. Future-wife, I'm gonna love you so goddamn much. I just don't really love myself right now. Forever and always, -Emilio
Watch it in video
No.
No this is not funny.
Whether or not it is a joke, I’ve gone onto the channel and there are multiple videos similar to this, which makes me think they’re fake.
Doesn’t matter.
These videos enforce the idea to parents that yes, the answer to stop your child becoming obsessed with games is to DESTROY them.
No. This is not funny. It is things like this that cause events such as the father who SHOT his daughter’s laptop to bits to occur. These jokes enforce the attitude that people are ‘wrong’ for loving games.
For wanting to play games.
For some people (including myself), games are a serious escape from horrid realities. The only escape some people can get. The idea that this man (boy?) is wrong for being so upset is disgusting to me?
This is horrific. This is abuse. This is wrong.
This is a sure fire way to get your kids to hate you.
do people not understand how much video games cost?
Video games are a multi-billion dollar business. Some people are good at it. Very good. Do not squander your child’s talents, help them realize them and strengthen them. There are other ways to get your child outside without destroying their games and everything they work for. This won’t solve anything; this will only set them back further.
do this to your childs anything and they will automatically hate you/not trust you
It doesn’t matter what it is
It doesn’t matter if its their video games or if its their smoking pipe
If you just destroy it/throw it away, you are giving no explanation as to why it’s bad/you don’t want them to have it
This can actually psychologically mess a kid up because you teach them that if someone doesn’t like something, they should destroy it
That can lead to some serious problems with socializing with others and other things
dont do that to people
dont
I had a notebook I used to write in all the time. I did that thing that Margo did in Paper Towns where she criss crossed her writing, but I did it so I’d have enough room to write everything. I took it everywhere wtih me and wouldn’t let my parents even start the car unless I had in in my lap. My dad got really annoyed by this and said I needed to throw the notebook away, what was written in it wasn’t important anyway (it was to me, very much so). So one day he took and ran it through the paper shredder. Ever since I’ve had an intense fear of losing my notebooks and currently have a colletion of 53 blank notebooks and 16 that have been written in because I’ve started hoarding them. Long story short, don’t fucking do this to your kids. You think it’s harmless and some people even think it’s clever, but you’re really just an asshole and are causing actual psychological problems for your children.
I have a plush rabbit that I’ve had since Easter of the year I was born (I was about 2 months old when I got it). It quickly became a comfort thing for me and I used to go everywhere with it as a child. When my mum and dad split up was when I became kind of dependent on having it around. If ever I did anything wrong mum always threatened to take it away from me, which obviously caused my 6-year-old self to kick and scream and cry because I needed it. One day I lost it for 6 or 7 months (turns out it was in my room the whole time but shh it was very well hidden & neither myself or my mum know how it got there) That was the point that my mum realised she couldn’t threaten to take it away because holy shit I changed so much in those months. Seriously, if your child is dependent on something, or takes great comfort in having it around DO NOT TAKE IT FROM THEM. It does not matter how old your child is, what their comfort item is, if it’s a video games console - don’t take it from them. If it’s their phone - don’t take it from them. If they’re 18 and still sleep with a teddybear - don’t take it from them.
This also goes for if your child is self-harming. If they have a blade in their bedroom and you find it DO NOT THROW IT OUT. Talk to them about it, be as supportive as you can, but do not think “oh well if I get rid of it they’ll be fine”. It can be seriously distressing and also lead to them becoming creative with what they use.
"Got to get a job"? He looks like he’s 14 years old!
i hope that wasn’t a real thing that parent did or I would have to slug him. That is no way to treat someone with a hobby
I had several notebooks full of different and vast story ideas that I hoped one day to make either into little books/comics/animations or something… They were full of gods and goddesses or sci-fi civilizations and (of course) lots of different pairings and ton of other junk…
My mother found the notebooks and took all of them because of the dangerous and blasphemous subject matter.
Don’t be a dick. Seriously. Fuck off.
I’ve only ever found one of them… it was ruined.
Wow. Okay, I can’t really say I’ve had anything this drastic happen to me between me, my hobbies and my parents, but I’ve had my own share of smaller experiences. My dad never approved of me liking video games, or TV, or any kind of fiction really. I never really held it against him though, he grew up really poor and never really had the opportunity for himself to experience what it was like to go through a fictional world. He just say it as stupid, useless, and well…fake. Irrelevant to life. Meaningless and wasteful. Specifically there was one time when I was about 11 years old when my dad came into me and my brother’s room one morning to wake us up for whatever event and he saw that the N64 had been on all night. The TV in our room was off, but there was the little telling red light on the front of the console that was lit up. He lost it.
He started screaming at me and my brother to wake up and stop wasting our lives with, “this stupid video.” My brother and I barely knew what was happening. He started to shout at us for wasting electricity and for what? This stupid game that will never contribute to anything meaningful in our lives. Our mom came in when she heard the shouting and looked worried. Like what was going on? What was he going to do? Is everything okay? What happened? Then my dad explained to her that the video game had been on all night and she backed up. My dad continued to scream at us for wasting time and money on stupid stuff like this and it quickly broke us down to tears. "I’m sorry dad! I’m sorry!" "I’m sorry dad, we won’t leave it on anymore! Just please stop yelling at us!" We looked at him for mercy for any kind of forgiveness and when all he had in his eyes was malice, I turned to our mom for any kind of support. I was looking for anything resembling, “It will be okay. He still loves you.” But all I could see was her, standing behind him, nodding her head solemnly as if she were telling me, “You had this coming. Now reap what you sowed.” And I broke down into even deeper tears. Then when my dad felt like he had finally “won” the argument against video games, he started stomping around the room and picking up any piece of video game related things in our room. The controllers. The console. The games. The cords. Everything. And he stomped out. We followed him of course, Alonzo and I’s video games for years were in this box and his hands he was carrying. We followed him into the hall, down the stairs, into the laundry room, where he opened the door and said, “No more video in my house!” and he threw it all into the trash can that we take to the curb every week. Alonzo and I broke down. Crying. Hard. The next thing he did was start shouting at us to stop crying. Saying that we’ll thank him later. “Save your tears for something sad.” He’d say. “Save your tears for my funeral.” Didn’t help. We kept crying. We went to our mom for comfort, but she didn’t have any for us. She just told us to pull it together and get ready for church. That’s why he was waking us up in the first place. It didn’t hit me how hard that morning was until I took the time to write this on tumblr. My parents never liked that I liked nerdy things. Books, comics, movies, video games, tv shows, none of it. They didn’t make it a secret either. They never bought me those things for christmas, the last video game I received for a birthday present was Pokemon Yellow when I turned eight. Even when all I had on my list was that nerdy stuff, there was never any support from my parents. Even now, years later, I still love all that stuff, but what my parents did. Or moreso, what they didn’t do, in supporting my hobbies and what I loved. They scarred me in a way I didn’t think possible. I haven’t felt accomplished playing a video game since I was fourteen. Every time I play a game for more than an hour, I feel shame. I used to feel good about beating a level, or getting that next badge, or figuring out a puzzle, now? Now I feel like a waste. I feel like the things I love are stupid. And here’s the stupid part. I still get the next nintendo console whenever it comes out. I pre-ordered the last few Zelda, Mario, Pikmin and Metroid games. I just…haven’t played them. I’m like two hours into Skyward Sword and I have no motivation to continue because even though I enjoyed it, I still felt like I was wasting my life in it. All because my parents never supported me in the things I love. When I was nine I wanted to be a game programmer/developer. I don’t know when that stopped. Who knows where I’d be if my parents encouraged or supported or just, didn’t talk down on the stuff I loved as a kid. All I know is that because of it, I find it hard to enjoy the things I’m supposed to love. And that’s a really unique kind of emptiness.
So there's this mechanic in Smash Bros.
It's called "Stale move negation." Basically what it means is the more you use any attack, move, or anything, it gets weaker. Like if a F-smash does 19% normally, the more often you use it, the weaker it gets until basically it's next to useless. What this game-mechanic encourages is to keep a variety in your game play. "Yes, that move is good, but don't use it all the time or it'll get weaker" is what that mechanic teaches us. Mix it up. Change the game. Be unpredictable. Stay creative. And as a player, I love that. I love that a built in mechanic will actively try to keep a game interesting and...this is the part where I connect it to life. Words are the same way. At least...I treat them as such. Words all have their own particular meaning that is exclusive to them, but over time...their meaning gets weaker. Yeah, they'll still mean something but that something will mean less and less the more we use that word.
For example: The word "fuck." It is generally used to curse someone, something or some event that has occurred that is to a some extent...confusing or undesirable. "Fuck you," "What the fuck" "Fuck that." "Don't give a fuck." And the thing is about that is that "fuck" is supposed to be the most extreme word to use. The one saved for the most confusing or undesirable or circumstances and...we use it all the time. So much that it loses meaning. So when an occasion like that actually does occur that merits the original meaning of the word, we have nothing that fits it because we used the word so colloquially already. To put in perspective, I'll use a personal example: the word "love." I use this word pretty frequently, but I use it very very sparingly in regards to a person. Outside of blood relatives, only four people in the world have ever heard an, "I love you." from me. I want this phrase to be important and I realize that the more frequently I use it, the less meaning it will have when I tell it to someone.
Basically what I think I'm trying to say with this post, at the surface level: if you've ever told me you loved me, and I didn't say it back, I'm sorry. I probably said something of similar meaning like, "Awww, thanks, I appreciate you too" or "I care about you a lot" or "you're special to me." And I've meant those things every time, I promise. I'm just saving my "I love you"s for someone truly special to me because I want them to know just how much I value them by making them more special than everyone else in my life. But on a deeper level, I guess what I'm trying to say is that hey. Whenever possible, we should save our words for when we mean them...like just my personal opinion, but a "fuck you" from someone that never says it would hurt me more. And an "I love you" from someone that doesn't say that a lot would be so much more endearing to me.
where do I start
There are ten things wrong here and Ash was fooled by eleven of them.
So my friend game me this writing challenge...
The challenge was to write a scene consisting ONLY of dialogue. So no scene description, no character names (unless spoken, but preferably not), no adverbs to describe tone, nothing. But it should still flow like a short story and feel complete when done. And…now I’m gonna try it. Prompt: “forgive him and teach him how to forgive himself" [__________________________________________________] "I just can't believe anyone could...do that to a person."
"Yeah, it's okay. Don't worry, you'll bounce back. You always do."
"I know, I know. I just...I want to hurt him. I want him to know how it feels."
"What do you mean?"
"I want him to hurt. I want him to hurt like he hurt me. I felt like he didn't treat me like a human being with feelings and I want him to know how it feels so he doesn't do that to anyone else."
"Hey, that doesn't sound like you..."
"You're right. It doesn't because it's not me. It's the 'new' me. The damaged, hurt, unfixable version of me because of what he did. Yeah, you're right. I probably will bounce back and be fine. But...I won't be the same. If my life is clay and the world is the sculptor, this is how the world shaped me and this is how I am."
"C'mon...we both know that's not you. You're the good one. The one that can be the bigger person and forgive. You're better than reveng-"
"No! I'm not! Can't you understand...? That's what I'm trying to tell you! I'm not the same person and I can't forgive him! Not after he treats me like a commodity and a...a thing! How will people ever treat me as irreplaceable if I keep forgiving?! Don't you get it? I'm...hurt now."
"..."
"...That's what he did...he changed me."
"Okay."
"...Okay?"
"Okay. You're hurt. I get it. You're not the same person...now. But here's the thing...I know you better than that and if there's one thing you are it's that you're unbelievably consistent in your virtue and your character. And I know that this anger of yours is a phase and that you think you changed, but you're not. You haven't changed for the worse, you're hurt, you're not dead. And the thing is about getting hurt...you can heal. You can be better than you're letting yourself be and one day, probably soon, you will be. And that's just as I know you. They don't call you 'Amazing' for nothing."
"You know, nobody actually calls me Amazing, right?"
"I do. And they should start. You deserve it. 'Cause despite what you just said, I'm pretty sure you're already starting to-...is that your phone?"
"...Yeah. Uh...speak of the devil, It's him."
"You gonna answer it?"
"Thinking about it."
"You should."
"What would I even say?"
"Say something that's you."
"...Hello? Yeah, nah I'm not busy. What's up?...You're right. That did hurt. A lot. I was so lividly mad at you and-No. Shut up. I am not done talking to you yet. You were supposed to be my friend and you stabbed me in the back then left me to bleed...No, I'm not done yet. You left me to bleed and then every once in a while made sure the wound was still open. I'm not cool with that. Okay I think I'm done...Okay, clarify that for me. What the hell? No, no way is that true. Look, you did way worse! I had to sit and stew in that and- Shut up! This is the worst apology I've ever received! Don't you go defending yourself if you're planning on apologizing! It should be nowhere near that easy for you to be forgiven...
"..."
"...but...you will be. I don't know if I'm going to hate myself for this, but...I forgive you. You screwed up big time and you hurt me more than a lot of people. But I...I know that I'm fine. Or at least...I'm gonna be. Not today, probably not tomorrow, more than likely a few weeks from now I'm gonna be fine. But I think I know you a little bit. And in that, I know that if you go unforgiven, you could deteriorate more and I don't want to see that happen to you because there's enough assholes in the world for me to create another one. So yeah, I forgive you. I just hope you can do the same...No, not for me you moron, I didn't do anything that I need you to forgive me for. What the hell? I mean I hope you can forgive yourself. Don't forget what you did and don't forget the kind of hurt you're capable of doing to people. Just...don't let it eat you and become a better person. You've kinda got a lot of room for improvement. Don't waste it...Yeah it was a weird conversation for me too...What? No, I didn't mean to go that way, I just...I had someone convince me that I was capable. Hey, I'm actually with someone now, guess I'll see you around."
"..."
"..."
"See? How hard was that?"
"That was really hard actually."
"But it wasn't impossible. You did it and you should be proud of that. Not a lot of people are capable of what you just did."
"I don't even think I would have been if it weren't for you."
"Don't give me all the credit, after all you pretty much got there all on your own."
"What?"
"You've been talking to yourself this whole time. Or didn't you notice that we're still in the parking lot?"
"Ha...guess that's true."
"Go home haha. Talk later?"
"As always."
In this episode of Emilio gets aggressive.
Spoiler alert: I don't. You can hurt me all you want. You can attempt to destroy my life. You can do whatever terrible horrible thing you want to me. I will still believe in the best of you. And I will still believe that you are amazing. I will always believe that. Always.
Dear Future Wife Vol. 4
Hey gorgeous, Just writing to let you know that well...I had a dream last night. I'm pretty sure it was about you. I mean, it had to be. I don't know what else it could have been about haha. It was kinda phase-ey, you know what I mean? Like how dream sequences are in movies. Super blurry but you still know what's going on for the most part. Where like all you get are general ideas of stuff and they have that same familiarity while still being kinda sketchy. So like the opposite of the dreams where like everything is so vivid that you're sure it's real. You're smart, you know what I mean. Anyway, in this dream it was just like an abstract of ideas, events and feelings and like I don't know...I just felt...really happy. Like so so happy. Whatever the opposite of lividly angry and excessively sad is, that's what I felt. Like I have no idea what it was. 'Cause honestly, I don't have anything to be THAT happy about right now. And it was this like specific kind of happy when like you find out your best friend got good news or something when it doesn't really affect you but you can't help but be happy for them. Maybe you had some fantastic news recently and it was some kind of weird psychic link that we have? [If that's weird then just pretend I didn't say it haha.] If it's true though, congratulations! You earned it! Whatever it is xD. That would be cool though. To have some kind of thing like that. Kinda like that Joss Whedon movie, "In Your Eyes." Have you seen it? Not too many people have. If you haven't, remind me to show you, it's fantastic.
I hope that dream was a sign that you're doing well though. More than well if it's real haha. It's kinda reassuring to me too though. That it makes me happy that you're happy that is. 'Cause I just know you've got the best smile in the world and I'm looking forward to doing everything I can to put that smile on your face. I know this letter wasn't as deep, or profound or whatever as usual, but I do like writing you. Keeps me excited that we're gonna meet, then I'm gonna fall in love with you, then you're gonna fall in love with me...Or maybe I have it the other way around ;P. Either way beautiful, hope you're doing well and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you. Love you always, -Emilio
Spider-Man is one of my inspirations.
No matter what kind of shit happened to Peter, he stayed good. He did the right thing, no questions asked. Yeah he got mad inside, but let's be honest. Actions speak louder than words. No matter what kind of shit happens. Like Peter, I will remain good hearted. Do the right thing no questions asked. Nothing. Can. Break. My. Spirit. With great power comes great responsibility. If I have the power to do the right thing, I have a responsibility to do so. Don't do good for the attention. Do good to do good. Especially when it's gonna hurt.
Personal Opinion on the Path to Happiness
Step-by-step: #1) Find people you see goodness in. They will help you find the goodness in yourself. #2) Be able to see the good in yourself without the help of others. This will help you see yourself the same way others see you. #3) Find one special person to share that goodness with. You will thrive on each other's brilliance and become better for it. Because how can you make someone else feel special, if you don't see it in yourself first? And how can you know what makes you unique, without help to make it clearer? Good friends will help shape you into the person you want to be so that you can hold yourself up. And only when you can hold yourself up strongly can you begin to dedicate yourself to support another person.
In my life as a TV Show.
Season 23 has become the most interesting season yet. Can't wait for the last few episodes before the finale, it's getting good. So many new characters, but so many old characters returning. God this show was always good, but it took forever to become amazing.
“Act the way you’d like to be and soon you’ll be the way you’d like to act.”
― Bob Dylan (via psych-quotes)
Hey world
Sorry you ain’t me ‘cause I have the best goddamn friends in existence.
Thanks for having my back and being the best people anyone could ask for.
People constantly tell me that I’m a good friend. There’s only a select few I would be able to say, “You too.”
To give a shit.
I'm honestly contemplating redirecting my life to be an asshole. I feel like I owe it to myself to be self-centered, selfish and just...not care about anyone but me. And I don't mean like make more me-benefitting decisions, I mean like a complete turn around. Start making excuses why I can't help people. Don't care what others are doing and what messes they get themselves in and just...not give a shit about anything that doesn't concern me. I asked myself why I have this new slight change of heart and all I could come up with was that: to not be an asshole is exhausting. Kindness is exhausting. Selflessness is exhausting. Doing the "right thing" is exhausting. And not the fulfilling kind of exhausting like I just finished a ten page paper and I feel accomplished. The kind of exhausting you get after you do the same task over and over because you messed up so many different ways and by the end of it... You feel like you didn't get anywhere. THAT kind of exhausting. And to be honest...I'm getting tired. In tired of being this person I've WANTED to be only to feel like I'm STILL going nowhere fast. I'm tired of feeling...replaceable. I'm tired of constantly falling short. I'm tired of promises that it'll get better. It's so helpless to think that my supposed "good heart" is enough when it feels like a lie. But here's where I really start to hate myself: I can't help it. I want to change, I want to be selfish and everything but... I just can't. I'm internally compelled to be this person and while it sucks...I can't help but give a shit and care. Guess we'll see if it dooms me or blesses me.
"I think I finally understand why people are afraid of ghosts."
I was never afraid of ghosts. Like ever. If there was something I would be afraid of, it would be something like a spider. Poisonous. Small. Deadly. Easily overlooked. Something that could out of nowhere, and kill me or at least do substantial damage regardless of my physical state. To me, that's terrifying. The same goes for Aliens. The idea that they could, like a spider, appear in an instant and in less time than it takes for me to realize they're there, could destroy me and my life in ways I never thought possible. Now ghosts...they didn't have this threat. The idea of a ghost, the image of a dead person, presiding on the "mortal plane" or whatever, is not intimidating to me in the slightest. Like they move through walls, so they can't really physically cause any damage. Sure they can shake stuff or whatever, but c'mon, how is that a threat? I grew up in Southern California, Earthquakes are less trouble to us than evening traffic. There is no reasonable way that a ghost could cause any harm to me, and thus, no reasonable way to instill any level of fear. God, I've been so naive. I now realize just how terrifying Ghosts can be. A ghost isn't just an image of a "dead person" or "living spirit"...I've now learned that ghosts are lingering images of the past, haunting us in our minds and in many instances, our surroundings. Ghosts don't just shake things up, or move a cup to the other end of the table. Ghosts attack us in our souls. A lingering image of the past, right? A memory long gone, be it happy, or sad, or neutral, ghosts haunt us. I can wake up in the middle of the night and remember a happy time when I had something to look forward to. Then it hits me that that thing has passed and I see the ghost. The spirit of the hope for the future that turned into nothing more than a disappointing memory. I can see ghosts everywhere now. When I go out and see something that once triggered a smile, I can glimpse a ghost of it...and it whispers to me, "Remember this? It's gone now. That part of you is gone forever. Remember when you were happy? You're not. Not anymore. You had happiness and now it's lost." And that's a haunting feeling. To be reminded of something you've lost. Because then the ghosts build on that regret. They turn it into guilt. As if there's something you could have done to fix it. To prevent this apparition of darkness. Unlike spiders, or aliens, or anything, ghosts don't endanger our life. They endanger our soul and attack our happiness instead of our health. And that's more terrifying than I could have ever imagined. To be haunted by past mistakes and regret. Ghosts aren't just leftover spirits, they see into our souls and turn our memories into monsters. It's a different kind of hurt and it's not even a loss...it's just a reminder that we have at one point or another, were hurt. A reminder that at one point, we hurt ourselves or someone we love and that...that sits with us forever.
The ghosts never leave. They sit around in corners of our lives and our minds and they persist on it. I feel our only defense is to learn to live with them and try not to make any more. Because given enough ghosts. Given enough past mistakes, and heartbreak and trials...the ghosts can consume us and not give us any reprieve. I never used to understand why people were afraid of ghosts. Now I understand that they are the most terrifying things to encounter.
I will never stop believing that people are inherently good, and kind, and redeeming and amazing, and interesting and that everyone has something special to offer the world. Everyone. If someone doesn't seem to be all those things, I must not know them very well yet.
