Awkward Chemistry
( . . . )
“Park Youngjae and Son Seungwan, you two will be partners…”
Youngjae snaps back into reality and turns his gaze over to Wendy one last time, raising his eyebrow out of pure amusement.
Maybe this morning class won’t be so bad after all.
Wendy could be really annoying during mornings especially because her mood during that time of the day was the best always. Being a morning person apparently urged the bad side of people because who’d be lively and up to everything when they just left their comfortable and warm beds? Honestly, it wasn’t something Wen could actually explain too. Even though she was tired and looking like a zombie in the previous night, she strangely woke up with more strength than she normally did. Maybe it could be a sign that something good would happen.
She arrived in the class laughing of something her friend had told her. She hit his shoulder lightly and looked in disbelief at him for the lame joke he had just told her. Since the her classes were about to begin she joked saying that they would definitely discuss that matter later and she’d teach him to never crack jokes like that one again.
The mood in the classroom was awful, not because of someone fought or discussed, but because at least half of the class was nearly dead. She couldn’t really blame them, she was an abnormality for waking up in a good mood, but she could remember how annoying was to leave her bed during high school times – this is one of the few things she’s not so bothered of remembering. In the other hand, there was Youngjae, in just a few chairs behind her. Maybe because she is ashamed of everything she did, she never actually tried talking to the male, maybe apologizing, explaining. In the end, she always gave up the idea.
She was so lost in her own thoughts that she didn’t notice that the teacher was already done explaining a class project and pairing up people. She looked to her friend in hope that they would end up together but her easy smile was transformed in a shocked face when the teacher revealed her pair. She bite her lip and sighed heavily while she looked at Youngjae.
The teacher finished his explanation about the project and dismissed the class. Wendy started packing all her books and notebooks as fast as she could. Even though she probably had to discuss a project with the male, she didn’t really thought she was prepared for a confrontation. Unfortunately, lucky wasn’t in her side because her science book and cellphone fell and were sprawled in the floor. She could just hope Youngjae wouldn’t come right away.
