Deadly egg recall

The FDA has upgraded an egg recall issued last month to “Class I,” its highest risk level, as it warns the public that consuming the products could cause “serious adverse health consequences or death.”

The recall of 1,589,577 dozen white-shell eggs and brown cage-free shell eggs was initially issued by Midwest Poultry Services in late July, which warned they might be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis.

According to the company, the eggs were produced and distributed from farms in Texas between June 6 and July 3 and have sell-by or best-by dates between July 20 and August 17. The recalled egg cartons have either the code P-1950 or 0840962 and Julian Dates between 157-184.

Have you ever lost acting work due to video essays, podcasts or stuff you said on socials?

Would you self-censor on issues of life and death if you knew that speaking frankly might cost you a gig you wanted?

I know for a fact that I've lost some live speaking gigs because I'm vocally pro-Palestine: the organisers of a few events have told me that directly. I don't know about acting but I wouldn't be surprised; I know I've missed out on a few acting gigs for being trans. I like to think I'd keep doing the right thing even if it'd cost me but I guess we can't really know until we're tested?

I will say, one of the hardest things about being an actress is knowing which men in the industry are rapists and not being able to say anything publicly cause it would ruin both your own life and their victims' lives. That sucks.

Have you ever had problems with non-recognition from the other two after Mayhem has had a big trip to the vet? How did you keep/restore peace?

Asking for my pair of bonded littermates who are currently living on different floors of my house (temporarily I hope!) after one's 7 day hospitalization and surgery.

Mostly the issue there is 1. changed scent and 2. avoidance of a potentially diseased colony member. The scent thing is generally not an issue for brief vet visits, but after Mayhem's surgery and long convalescence, Vice was hissing at her and did get pretty agitated.

Familiar scents helps--you want the returned cat to smell like your house--like your colony, if we're putting it in cat-brain terms--and not like vet clinic. So introducing things that carry household scents to your convalescing cat, to help them start smelling familiar again, should help them feel more at home and your other cat less like there's an invader. Giving your recovering cat a bed that both of them use, or rub them with a hoodie that you've worn, or offer whatever other item might carry your-and-theirs scent should help them start smelling like family again.

The avoidance of an unwell cat by other cats makes sense from an instinct standpoint, and there's not a lot to do there other than let it play out slowly. Cats don't generally seek out others for comfort when they aren't well--in fact one of the indicators that a cat isn't feeling healthy is finding them hidden away where they won't be found. Your recovering cat likely doesn't want to see their littermate right now, and won't until they feel better. Keeping them separate for a bit is fine. Let them take reintroduction slowly--open up the door a bit, let them sniff around and retreat at will, then separate again for a little bit. Mayhem didn't have direct contact with Mal and Vice for nearly three weeks post surgery, and then it was for like...seconds at a time while they were mostly distracted by wet food.

They'll be friends again, it'll just take some time and reintroduction. Don't feel bad that they each need some space right now, that's what's comfortable for them.
