Players will now be able to change a character's gender at any point

Electronic Arts have announced today (June 2) that all gender-based boundaries have now been removed from The Sims. Until now, the popular video game series has restricted certain clothing, hair styling, body shape, walk type and voice options to either male or female characters. However, with a free update made available today, all options will be available to all characters regardless of their gender. Electronic Arts said in a statement to press today that it wanted to “make sure players can create characters they can identify with or relate to through powerful tools that give them influence over a Sims’ gender, age, ethnicity, body type and more”.

“Fifteen seconds changed everything. One moment I was eating dinner near the start of my shift and just moments later I’m asking myself “Am I going to jail?” “Will I be able to see my daughters?” The threat had been stopped but my life wasn’t going to be the same. I didn’t say a word through the entire incident. What I knew was that the man behind the wheel of that stolen vehicle had backed into my patrol car, knocking me back and was now pushing on the gas pedal, spinning the tires and headed straight for my partner. I heard 1 shot out of the 8 fired in total.

You see, in the movies when a cop gets in a shooting, it’s glamorous. They are able to go home, have a beer and sleep it off. The reality is that nights can become sleepless, and beer can only dull the pain for so long before you must live with the consequences of your actions, no matter how justified; not just for the rest of your career, but for the rest of your life.

I am glad that I was prepared when the fight came to me but I don’t wear this shooting as a badge of honor. Often times, it is like a grip on the shoulders that can try to bring you down as you contemplate the reality that even though no other options were available to you, and even though he was a criminal intent on taking someone’s life, that he was a son and a brother and someone still loved him.

Ok Dr. Phil’s wife, Robin, (yes groan, but listen up) has this new app out (iPhone and Android) that’s for people in abusive relationships. It’s called Aspire News and it’s disguised as a regular news app, but when you go to the “Help” section of the app, it leads you to domestic violence resources and also has a “Go Button” that when you press it, if you’re in a compromising situation, alerts local authorities as well as local shelters and starts recording everything that is going on.

Now, if you’re looking up resources on the app and your abuser is near, simply press the X button and it brings you to a random news page. Same goes for the actual foundation site.
