writing on company time so i will utilise this to inform all of you about robert's battle positioning as a hero shooter veteran because it's UNTAPPED well of angst and whump
robert is a normie who is a TANK. his mech is built for defense and he solely uses SELF-DEFENSE passive attacks UNTIL he was pushed to aggression. this means in battles he will always take frontlines to create space by (1) tanking damage (2) sheer size (3) shield/defensive skills. in hero shooters, tanks are crucial to push in so the damage dealers could even begin sending attacks and attempt to overwhelm the enemy team. high-mobility tanks are also really fucking annoying because they can push in, hunt your supports (weakest links), then dive out to regroup -- from the mech suit with the fucking pulsars and jets? robert is a high mobility tank. that's a walking nightmare to fight against and no fucking wonder he could go on solo for YEARS.
but he's a normie so you know what that means? he is the weakest link in a group. especially given everyone knows about his normie status. which means in battle with teams, the enemy damage dealers WILL hunt for him first and rain down the most attacks and robert will be forced to tank all of it because that's his role.
SO MY TAKE IS imagine robert tanking for zteam. then the villains kept raining down on him until they could corner and cut him off from the rest of the zteam. and then the mech finally gave in and robert the pilot lunged out feral raccoon style (a la baby dva in overwatch*) but still he's the normie and he's the assigned tank so his mind is in a loop of "my team is counting on me" even when he's without any protection .
like all im saying is -- there's a reason why tank players in hero shooters are called suicidal
*the closest hero shooter gameplay to robert's mechanics is dva from overwatch. when you destroy dva's mech, baby dva (pilot) hops out instead and can shoot enemies while you wait for the new mech to load back in. baby dva is essentially a pseudo-damage dealer. it's worth noting that when you do become baby dva, the entire enemy team and their mother will do anything they can to kill you before your mech loads back in.
