Robert is Mecha(Bat)Man (MechaBat? BatMech?), a billionaire legacy hero.
He lives alone in a big empty mansion (dust cloths on all the furniture) with only Beef for company, and the only person he talks to is Royd, who he hires (part time) to maintain and upgrade the suit.
Shroud is still in prison, where heās secretly running the Red Ring.
Blazer becomes the new head of SDN, and declares their new mission statement is to get rid of vigilantes and privatize all superheroes. Mecha Man argues that heās exempt because heās not super, just a hero. (And he works alone.)
During a fight with Toxic, Flambae (and maybe more of Z Team) shows up to help Mecha Man take him down. They get distracted arguing over who Mecha Manās greatest nemesis is. (Flambae thinks itās him, but Robert doesnāt even remember fighting him, and Toxic asks how they can be nemeses if Flambae is a hero now.) (This would straight up be the āI like to fight aroundā scene; Robert would say his nemesis is Shroud, or maybe Phenomaman)
Toxic gets away and Red Ring attacks become more frequent. Mecha Man and Z Team will often cross paths trying to apprehend them, getting in each otherās way and the letting Red Ringers escape.
Robert gets fed up with having his busts fail because of Z Team, and shows up at SDN to confront Blazer, where he runs into Z Teamās dispatcher: Chase. The closest thing Robert has to family (who he hasnāt talked to in a while). Chase and Blonde Blazer (and Royd, who also works part time at SDN) try to convince Robert to work together so they donāt keep getting in each otherās way. He says no. (He works alone.) (Galen and Mr Whiskey are also there.)
On his way out of SDN, Robert runs into Waterboy, whoās just been turned down for a hero position but was offered a job as a janitor. He asks if Mecha Man wouldnāt mind giving him some hero tips, or maybe even becoming his mentor. Robert, not really listening, says sure fine whatever.
The next time Robert swings by the Mech-Cave, Waterboy is there. Apparently he told everyone at SDN who would listen that Mecha Man agreed to be his mentor. Chase and Blazer thought that was a great idea, so Royd brought Waterboy with him to the Cave next time he came to work.
Robert brings Waterboy on a mission to break into the downtown branch of SDN, so Robert can steal all their info on Red Ring and then have Waterboy water damage the computers (so it wonāt be traced back to Mecha Manās hacking). They run into Phenomaman and the rest of A Team having a party for all the best heroes in LA. (Robert is slightly offended he wasnāt invited.)
The mission is a success. Robert has access to more information than ever about Red Ring, but he canāt be everywhere at once. Now that SDN has no info, Red Ring is slipping through their fingers easier than ever, and Shroud escapes jail.
Robert goes after Shroud, but Waterboy, Blazer, and Chase show up to help him escape, so he doesnāt get blown up. Chase uses his powers though, so he ends up in SDN medical.
Realizing he has people he cares about, and he canāt stop them from running after him into danger so it makes more sense to fight together, Robert gives an inspirational speech to Z Team and they all work together to stop the Red Ring attacks.
Shroud gets ahold of the astral pulse and turns the Red Ring into his own personal mind controlled army, not realizing that it doesnāt affect Visi since her augments are switched off. Z Team takes him down, but not before he sets off his secret ultimate evil plan that even the Red Ringers arenāt comfortable with.
(In Lego Batman the climactic threat is that Gotham will split apart and fall into the abyss. In Dispatch, the most destructive threat comes from Phenomaman contemplating extinguishing the sun. So letās say Shroud decided to go that route to weed out all evil.)
Z Team and Red Ring work together to prevent the extinguishing of the sun (possibly via a depressed Phenomenon, who Shroud successfully manipulated using his prediction algorithm or whatever) and the world is saved!
Blazer wants to arrest all of Red Ring right away but Robert suggests they give them a 30 minute head start and go get takeout instead. Waterboy debuts his pop knockoff of Everything is Awesome, much to Prismās distaste. Roll credits.
