Anybody else have this book when you taking your design or pattern making classes? She’s pretty old school, but the information is still relevant. I was having a discussion with a TD and another designer on Friday about button placement on jeans, and I finally said, “Let me just look in my old pattern making book!” We finally solved the riddle, but I’m glad I had the chance to leaf thru the pages of this old textbook. Brought back a lot of memories and excitement about patternmaking, which I always loved doing. 28 Days of Black Fashion History: Gordon Henderson

A native of Berkely, California, Gordon Henderson seems to have been born with style. In second grade, he put together an outfit complete with a scarf tied as an ascot for a class picture. As a single parent, his mother sewed her own dresses from Vogue patterns to save money. By the time he was in high school, Henderson would also be sewing his own clothes.
