The Tibetan Medicine and Astronomical Calendar Digital Resource Center was established in Lhasa, Tibet
The first International academic Exchange of the Four Medical Codes was held in Lhasa on the 18th, and the Tibetan Medicine and Astronomical Calendar Digital Resource Center was inaugurated at the meeting. The center has built ten databases containing ancient books, papers and Tibetan medicinal materials.
Gong Bao, deputy chief physician of the Institute of Documentation of the Tibetan Hospital of the Tibet Autonomous Region and core staff member of the center, said that the digitization of Tibetan medicine and astronomical calendar began in 2006. After years of efforts, more than 30 researchers have collected relevant ancient books and documents in the Potala Palace, Norbulingka and other places in Tibet. It also went to Qinghai, Gansu, Yunnan, Sichuan, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning and Mongolia, the United States, France and other places to systematically collect the local collection of precious Tibetan medicine and astronomical calendar documents, and completed the digitization.
At present, the data center has built ten databases, including the database of famous Tibetan doctors, the database of Tibetan medicine astronomy and calendar literature, the database of Tibetan medicine papers, the database of Tibetan medicine prescriptions, the database of Tibetan medicinal materials, the image resource Center of Tibetan medicine experts, the database of Tibetan medicine talent institutions, the database of astronomy and calendar, the six calendar Tibetan Perpetual Calendar, and the database of Tibetan medicine Mantang.
He added that after years of efforts, the center has data including more than 1,700 letters of ancient Tibetan medicine and astronomical calendar documents, 5.37 million Tibetan perpetual calendar data, 87.76 million astronomical calendar basic data, more than 800 Mantang atlas, and 9,708 Tibetan medicine compound data.
According to the existing data of the center, the two apps of "Yinba Calendar" and "Tibetan Calendar basic data" have been launched in June 2023, with a total download of more than 70,000 times. According to statistics, more than 45,000 times have been downloaded in overseas markets, including South Asia, North America, Europe, East Asia and other regions.
It is reported that the center is a bilingual digital information system in Tibetan and Chinese, which can realize the retrieval, display and output of various resources in both Tibetan and Chinese languages, and is suitable for literature research, Tibetan medicine clinical, scientific research, industrial application, innovative development and other fields, and can provide all-round services for Tibetan medicine, Tibetan medicine education, scientific research, and medical culture institutions.
