[ WarioWare: Sochi Season AU ]

☀️ WarioWare: Sochi Season (AU) — a fan take on the series through the lens of a Black Sea vacation. The project brings the vibe of a southern resort into a format of frantic microgames and cutscenes while keeping the core foundation of the original games intact. Instead of the fictional Diamond City, the whole plot takes place across Sochi districts (Central Sochi, Adler, Sirius/Imeretinsky Resort, and Krasnaya Polyana), complete with all the quirks of a local resort.

🔹 AU Concept: To spark the interest of the Russian-speaking Nintendo fanbase and blend iconic video game characters into the local pop culture scene. In the story, Wario arrives down south at the height of the summer season, spots crowds of tourists ready to burn cash, and sets up his own IT startup. He hits the jackpot by quickly finding a free spot to rent: a small office space combined with a tiny apartment right in the heart of the city. His goal is to launch a mobile app packed with ultra-short microgames, flood it with ads for local services, and charge vacationers for "VIP Priority Access".

🔹 Characters and their "Sochi" roles:

Wario — a shifty, jack-of-all-trades "businessman," self-proclaimed real estate agent, and boardwalk barker. He wears an unbuttoned silk Hawaiian shirt, a heavy gold chain over his chest hair, beach shorts, and flip-flops. He runs a legit but cutthroat resort business: renting out studio apartments at maximum "summer rates" and reselling tickets to popular excursions with a massive markup for "comfort and speed". Meanwhile, he aggressively promotes his app at open-air cafes near the Marine Station

Jimmy T. — the star of the Adler boardwalk, a flashy DJ and art director at a massive hotel with an open-air restaurant right by the sea. He sports a flawless southern tan, a massive afro, and sunglasses that he never takes off, even during late-night sets. He is constantly searching for "that ultimate Sochi vibe," mixing everything from local club bangers to Western electro-house in his music stages while guests dine and dance under the open night sky.

Mona — a hyperactive student who came down south for a hardcore summer side-hustle. She juggles multiple gigs at once to pay for college. Her schedule is packed day by day: on some days, she rides her custom e-scooter to swiftly deliver takeout orders and snacks of various cuisines across the steep hills of Central Sochi, or drops off groceries via the "Kuper" delivery app. On other days, she works as a tour guide up in Rosa Khutor or sells boat trip tickets at the pier. In between deliveries, she codes for Wario.

Dribble & Spitz — legendary brothers with years of hardcore driving experience under their belts. Instead of their usual yellow taxi, their personal fleet now features a right-hand drive Toyota Prius and a pristine, polished-to-a-shine white Toyota Alphard with a premium leather interior. Dribble, as always, is the ace pilot from the very first games, drifting through sharp turns on the mountain highway from Adler to Polyana. Spitz is the "flight engineer" in charge of maintenance, AC, and picking the perfect playlist for the passengers. To everyone's shock, they are among the few honest and reliable private drivers in Sochi who never rip anyone off or hike prices during heavy rain. Sometimes they pick up Uber/Yandex shifts in Comfort+ and Business classes, putting up with corporate rules, but they mostly work for themselves, handling daily rides and VIP transfers. They know every single dirt road in Adler, Krasnaya Polyana, and the most scenic spots in nearby Abkhazia. Chasing insane profits isn't their thing, so they don't even bother with flashy signs — people find them through word-of-mouth, and they are always happy to tell passengers where to find amazing cheap food, good places to stay, or affordable entertainment.

9-Volt & 18-Volt — inseparable gamers. They came to an old-school resort sanatorium on a vacation package with their parents. While the adults are busy with therapeutic mud baths, massages, and drinking mineral water at the pump rooms, the boys dodge the scorching sun inside a chilly Adler internet cafe or chill under the palm trees with their handheld consoles. Their stages feature classic retro Nintendo gameplay.

Ashley & Red — a gloomy goth girl and her loyal demon sidekick. They have set up camp in a semi-ruined, abandoned building of the famous Ordzhonikidze Sanatorium, which is completely overgrown with thick ivy. Ashley wears a slightly lighter version of her usual outfit, modified for the southern heat. Tourists and local anime fans constantly mistake her for a high-tier cosplayer and beg for photos. What surprises her most is that people often mistake her for a character from popular Chinese gacha games. Ashley is completely out of touch with geek culture, totally ignores the attention, and just wants to isolate herself to brew her "potions" out of eucalyptus, cherry laurel, and mountain chestnut honey. However, the crafty Red quickly turns this confusion into a cash cow: during major youth events in Sirius, he takes initiative, arranging paid photo ops, autograph sessions, and fan meetups.

🔹Resort Locations & Districts:

Central Sochi — the starting and most hectic location, home to Wario's rented central office. The district is packed with the classic atmosphere of a chaotic summer holiday. Visually, it's all about open-air cafes by the Marine Station, shaded alleys, overcrowded pebble beaches, and the steep mountain switchbacks where Mona zips around on her custom scooter to deliver orders.

Adler — a district of 24/7 movement, transit, and colorful seaside lifestyle. The main visual anchor here is the busy boardwalk and that specific hotel with an open-air restaurant by the sea where Jimmy T. drops his beats. The location is filled with the sound of crashing waves, evening neon lights, and the non-stop flow of Dribble and Spitz's cars.

Imeretinsky Resort (Sirius) — the most modern, high-tech, and spacious zone. Wide promenades, flawless asphalt, and grand Olympic infrastructure. The area is synonymous with endless streams of electric rental scooters, singing fountains, and massive youth festivals where Red pulls off his paid meet-and-greets for Ashley.

Krasnaya Polyana — a high-altitude mountain cluster that sharply contrasts with the hot coast. It brings a vibe of eco-tourism, crisp mountain air, and sky-high prices. Visually, the stage is filled with cable cars, mountain resorts, and dense forests, with hidden trails that Dribble and Spitz know inside out.

[ HUGE updates about Soura: Stray Star AU ]

I will try to explain what this AU is actually about. Honestly, it is styled like a forgotten, almost unaccepted by Korean or Japanese publics regional version of the Sonic franchise, while the Pop'n Music style serves as a secondary look used for alternative formatting. As a southern Russian fan and a former follower from the CIS, despite the lack of interest among local audiences, this AU fully (almost) captures the true idea of "Pop'n Tunes" - an unfinished fan spin-off concept originally created by MamonStar761. Since I quietly considered the Pop'n Music franchise dead after its 2025 reboot, my AU aims to pull this dead franchise out of the loop of monotonous rhythm games and expand it into something much bigger. My past activity with this franchise is exactly what people in some of my local circles associate me with.

My new and more realistic start for this universe begins with a specific part of the AU called Soura: PHAZE ZERO. It serves as a "pilot before the pilot" or a rough draft that is very close to an actual release. This phase will exclusively feature only Soura and Leuon-San. However, Soura's look here will be almost identical to his original 2023 design, meaning he is completely mute and doesn't have his tech collar or other small details yet. This 2023 look missed its proper timing due to crises and conflicts, but it was well-received in local circles. Despite that loud failure, it became the complete baseline for Soura. This rough setup captures a period just a few weeks before the organization of my creative collective, YUKI Art-House. In terms of implementation, it roughly replicates the style and feel of Sonic Pocket Adventure for the NGPC, or Sonic Advance / Sonic N for the N-Gage, but with added elements from the Bomberman series to rewrite the whole "portable Sonic on a journey" concept in the manner of old keypad mobile phones. For the progression, the mid-game bosses are going to heavily rely on Bomberman Online for the Dreamcast as a dense mechanical and stylistic reference, and each mid-boss will strictly correspond to its own specific location.

This spin-off branch is completely separate from Phaze Zero and functions as its own distinct setup. In this part of the universe, the dynamic between Soura and Elias heavily mirrors Nyami and Mimi from the Pop'n Music franchise. They appear together as a core duo, functioning much like the iconic mascots of that rhythm game series, which sets a completely different, lighter format for their interactions. According to the plot, they journey all across the country, meeting various local and foreign guests along the way. Soon after, they will encounter the others who will eventually become their close friends: Corbett and Elton.

To look closer at Elias (who will be named Emelya in the future Russian localization) she is a futuristic dark elf carrying her own heavy past. She and Soura have mutually stayed close since early childhood. She is exactly two years older than him. Their very first, rather strange contact began when they were both very young. Due to his ASD traits, Soura remained mute, only making humming sounds, and Elias immediately noticed his quirks. For a long time, their future personalities hadn't even fully formed yet. Trying to understand him, Elias felt a bit of awkwardness at first. However, due to the circumstances of their different parents, they drifted very far apart for an indefinite period. Even though her own childhood wasn't the best, it still resonated and somehow remember Soura's childhood. In her family, she was the third child, born after an older sister and an older brother, and she was essentially the first child with unusual traits, hinting at signs of ADHD or other neurodivergent conditions. This only increased the pressure and burden on their parents. Elias's childhood was very different from most kids. Many note that her inattention fluctuates constantly, and she struggles with a floating sense of control in specific environments, which sometimes interferes with others around her. Despite facing toxic behavior from her parents and constant jokes from her older sister, her brother tried his best to protect her boundaries as much as possible. In many circles, she was a harsh outcast until she became a teenager and later a young girl who would go through painful crises. Over a large period of time, childhood traumas and disapproval from those around her unfortunately accumulated in her soul. Eventually, her cowboy hat and cowboy clothes were formed as a cover for her existence and a way to hide her true identity. After several generation shifts, they suddenly cross paths again, which immediately escalates into a physical fight until Soura forcefully removes her hat. Since Elias cannot recognize Soura, remembering him only as a very tiny child - the reveal hits her hard. At first glance, meltdowns instantly trigger for both of them, and Elias admits a fierce, total defeat, finally recognizing him as her true brother regardless of their actual origins, as he is a hybrid cat and she is an elf. This profound realization begins to compensate for her childhood traumas, shifting her attitude entirely into a state of deep hyperfixation and fierce overprotection over him. After her reunion with Soura, she managed to get new clothes styled like a tank and a staff-hammer weapon instead of hand-to-hand combat.Sometime later, I began to learn about and understand the "tank girl" archetype, which was built piece by piece using literally whatever materials were at hand, based on things I had never even heard of before.

I’ve been thinking and decided it would be much more logical to split my custom universe into several phases. This approach increases the chances of hitting a successful release and helps avoid massive gaps in overall progress. I’ll try not to push any overambitious promises this time around (though, to be honest, keeping my hype in check isn't exactly my strongest suit).

I'll be honest: the current environment doesn’t always allow me to fully immerse myself in creative work. Plus, the lack of a proper minimum equipment setup and the specific ergonomics of being left-handed add their own share of daily inconveniences.

For now, I’m going to focus on the initial stages:

🔹 Phase Zero: In terms of gameplay, this one will feel like a nearly forgotten Java game from the old keypad phone era. Think of it as a "pilot before the pilot," mixing the vibes of Sonic Advance (Sonic N), Sonic Pocket Adventure, or Sonic 4. The main cast will feature only Soura and the Main Boss (Leuon-San), set across tiny worlds. Mid-level bosses will appear strictly as robots tied to their respective zones. This will be more than enough to showcase the core concept of a "portable Sonic in your pocket" but mixed with Bomberman elements, picture puzzles, and that signature old-school mobile tech aesthetic.

🔹 Between Phase Zero and Phase One: A small spin-off heavily inspired by the rhythm game Pop'n Music, which will serve as a secondary visual style for minor side stories within the franchise. Plot-wise, the heroes embark on a journey across the country, crossing paths with all sorts of guest characters. Elias and Soura will step into the roles of Mimi and Nyami, and the rest of the crew will join shortly after, kicking off the story of the whole team. The mechanics and controls will be simplified - closely mimicking Hello! Pop'n Music (the kind that reminds you of those old arcade cabinets found in arcades). The original Pop'n Music style is definitely getting an overhaul due to its inherent monotony, but I intend to maintain a visual balance reminiscent of classic vector flash animations or old flash ads. There won't be too many opponents, and each will perfectly match their respective location, culture, and music track. You won’t need to be a rhythm game god here: unlike the notoriously brutal difficulty of the original game, the notes will drop predictably and follow a linear progression sequence.

🔹 Phase One: This is where the actual foundation is laid. This phase is designed to be a solid safety net: even if something goes sideways and I can't continue development past this point, the content here will be enough to fully establish and lock down the entire canon. At its core, it will look and feel like a shortened, cut-down, but highly polished port for the Sega Mega Drive. You know, like those classic games developed by Japanese studios under license from popular Western cartoon franchises that turned out drastically different from the versions on other platforms. They weren't built as simple "passion projects," but rather as major commercial products tailored from day one for the global market - hence that solid, seamless quality. The project will be boosted by a powerful frequency-modulated soundtrack (FM synthesis). I’m not a composer myself, but I plan to be involved in tweaking the audio files, making fine adjustments, and directing how to make the sound crisper and more authentic. Right now, I'm weighing the technical options: whether to go with an imitation of mobile Yamaha soundchips, OPL3 emulation, or emulation of the actual Sega hardware (but with an added PCM stream for drums and sound effects). Gameplay-wise, it will balance right between a childhood-style beat 'em up (borrowing elements from The Hyperstone Heist) and a traditional platformer with streamlined controls, meaning it will be smooth and easy to beat programmatically. Players can expect a multi-part narrative and several stages nodding to classic old-school titles. I've planned 5 mid-bosses (each tied to their own specific zone) and 1 full-fledged final boss—their names and placement in the script will be revealed later. Even though the scope is intentionally scaled down, everything inside is vibrant, neatly packed, and reliably built.

The most interesting part begins! ❗

The main villain of the universe is based on the Russian animator Levon Mamulov (well-known as RestQue Team founder, Couch King (Divanny Analitik) creator). Leuon-San balances between media and tech. In public, his "toxicity as a business" means a harsh reassembling of others' worlds. Behind the camera, he is different: a tired, grumpy engineer. He does not care about anyone else's life—he respects no one around him.

For him, Soura is a walking famous name associated with chaos. While his fandom openly trolls Soura for his inability to run things, Leuon coldly profits from it. He is infuriated that the heroes break mechanisms and ruin his timeline.

The character design is heavy: glasses, a storm-cloud cloak, and boots styled after the 2025 Prado, stamping stellar magic into the dirt. As an engineer behind the camera, he turns worlds into assembly-line parts. In arena battles, Leuon relies on inventions and grumbling.

He tries to impose rigid boundaries on Soura with his ASD, but the stubbornness of the four heroes and physical intervention break all his precise calculations.

[ Soura: Stray Star ]

(From one OC into an original universe based on the mixed vibes of Sonic clones, Bomberman Jetters, and the aesthetics of the Pop'n Music series).

🌟 What is Stray Star?

It’s a personal "lost" world that I’ve been pieceing together since 2020. I like to think of it as an unofficial successor to the spirit of Bomberman Jetters - it’s a place of innocent childhood wonder, a pure cartoonish and anime-style aesthetic.

It’s not quite about high-speed bombing action; it’s about the atmosphere of a "lost video game/cartoon" from the early 2000s. I purposefully keep the pencil sketches in my art to maintain that hand-drawn feeling. I’ve worked to bring this to the level of a fair quality "import" indie project, purely based on my own aesthetic preferences.

Main characters:

Soura: A Hybrid Cat. Due to ASD (neurodivergence), the world feels unpredictable to him. He mostly communicates via a glowing tech-collar that voices his thoughts. In combat, he uses a helmet (like in Bomberman) and Hydro-Polymer Bombs (water orbeez). His design is a tribute to Pantech/LG futurism.

Elias: The older sister. A futuristic dark elf. She’s energetic and protective, clearing the path with her massive hammer-staff.

Corbett: The gentle giant rhino mechanic with magnetic gloves.

Elton: The wind falcon providing aerial support with Storm Feathers.

Leuon-San: Main villain of AU. Based on russian animator Levon Mamulov, this character combines a harsh, toxic public persona with a tired, engineer persona in private, prioritizing profit over lives.

I finally feel like I’ve found the true face of my project after a very long and painful journey.
