the mindless scribble in his book was instantly forgotten , slowly pressing the covers together to set it on his lap . as someone who had recently been praised for his newfound leadership skills , the thought of dropping anything to help his comrades wasn’t an option — it was a must . and he was more than happy to do it .

jean frowned , placing a hand against the boy’s cheek so that the pad of his thumb could wipe the tears away . he always made it a point to never comment about it despite his normally teasing nature towards him . he knew this wasn’t a button for him to push . after all , jean’s only wish in that moment was to make eren feel safe .
