Aoba opened his eyes, it was maybe the bajillionth time, but it felt like they hadn’t opened in a long time. Lids heavy, he looked around. He was in a hospital. Ren came into vision, but he was the only one there. He was sleeping at the foot of the bed. Aoba rest a hand on his head, and the fluff ball only stirred a bit. Aoba was worried, “Ren?”

Ren lifted his head and looked at Aoba, his tail wagging. Aoba sighed, relieved.

"Ren, where’s Mink? Oh and Clear!" Aoba looked around again, eyes searching. "And Noiz… and everyone else?"

Ren did not reply.

"Ren?" Aoba’s voice cracked. "Ren?!" He scooped up the dog, pressing his face into his soft fur. "Say something…" Tears streamed down Aoba’s cheeks. "Say something dammit!"
