Fascist groups are using the catastrophe in the Valencian Country to promote themselves taking advantage of people's grief. Please, be careful of what you spread. They are posting many fake news, for example they said that they have found over 1,000 dead people in a parking lot where there was actually 0 dead people, only damaged cars, and many people have retweeted it, even people outside the right-wing sphere. The same goes with a demonstration against the government's incompetence that is really a fascist and neonazi rally, but some people have been spreading hiding that part of the information. I have even been sent a fake video of my town being flooded saying that it is today, my friend who now lives in another city sent it being worried for us, but the video is from years ago!
Be careful with what information you spread. Ask yourself: who is saying this? How do they have this data? What is their source? Could the person/organization posting this have another motive for spreading this idea?
They have pretty much been trying to weaponize people's misery to recruit people, and it's really scary. Which is awful, specially considering they're using to their advantage the fact that PP/Vox (far right coalition in Valencia) is actively preventing aid and help from getting there, and then blaming it on the central government.
Yesterday a neonazi group (Revuelta) assaulted physically the president, all while Vox itself is directly funding that fucking group. I may not love Pedro Sánchez, but I'm pretty terrified of what can do a bunch of far right idiots do if they really believe the left is to blame for the catastrophe's awful administration (Source below)
Uno de los 'voluntarios' vinculado al grupo ultra Revuelta reconoce en un chat al que ha tenido acceso elDiario.es: "Estamos los de mi asoci
They proudly and publicly claim what they did and the neoliberal right gets their back saying "people are very tense these days".
If they were Basques or Catalans or just lefties, they'd already be in the Audiencia Nacional accused of terrorism, have no doubt.
They're stirring up the pot to see if they can gather a mob and launch a coup.
going into twitter these days radicalizes me more than anything has ever done. the autonomic government knew there was going to be flooding and did not alert the citizens. people are talking about seeing corpses in garages and floating by the sea (there's 155 reported deaths right now). entire towns are left to handle the flooding and the damage by themselves, with no help from the government. the police are detaining people who shoplift because they have lost everything or don't have edible food at home. and the conservatives are making fake news incriminating the weather service and the EU / current president (defending the fucking dictator we had for 40 years btw). dozens of people are looking for loved ones that have disappeared. people can't contact friends and family because power is out. businesses are making people go to work. celebrities and politicians are saying that this isn't climate change. i'm so done
The horrific storms flooding half of the Spanish Mediterranean coast were the result of climate change and warmer than usual sea temperatures, and for once no one seems to be arguing against that.
The 200+ deaths (and counting) were the result of capitalism (the right wing Valencian government refusing to issue an alert or ordering to close business and transport networks when the national meteorology agency raised the alarm level to the max, and didn’t do it until 12 hours later, when the storms were at their peak and plenty of towns were already flooded) (most of the people who died did it in their cars, coming back home from work, etc) and politicking: the same Valencian government refused the help the Spanish (centrist with a sprinkle of left) government (who wanted to send the army to find survivors) was offering for an entire day, missing the critical first 24 hours where they could have been critical in finding people.
The right wingers will kill us all in the end.

[A Tiktok with a woman speaking while showing pictures and videos of Spain current situation. She says the following:
"Of course the *DANA couldn't have been avoided, but the way in which we act in the face of such a serious meteorological alert and how we manage it and how we organize ourselves is a political responsibility. Of course, the management of the Valencian Community government of the *PP is taking its toll on the citizens.
Of course it would have been different if the Valencian government had not eliminated the emergency unit, an initiative that was promoted by the previous socialist government and which for the PP was an "unnecessary expense". Now, in raising their salaries and spending 17 million euros on bullfighting, of course they did not skimp.
Of course, the disaster could have been mitigated if they had not waited until 8pm to send the first alarm to citizens' mobile phones. Of course, the effects of the flood would have been less if companies and institutions had not forced citizens to continue working. And of course, this will continue to happen with the climate crisis as long as many continue to cut back on public services and prioritize production and cash over our lives."]
*DANA: isolated depression at high levels. This is the name used for this meteorological phenomenon
*PP: stands for Popular Party / People's Party, a Spanish political party located between the center-right and the right of the political spectrum that is currently in charge of the decisions in the Valencian Community government, including the disappearance of the emergency unit
Some companies who forced their employees to go to work despite the floodings were Ikea and Mercadona, as shown in this video.
I am leaving this here because once this goes away I do not wish that the evidence of those at fault disappears
Not watching eurovision this year nor ever again, probably. I should delete my tumblr anyways
Today is a big day on the Spanish internet. Valentine's day in Spanish is "día de San Valentín", which sounds almost the same as "Sam va lentín", which is how, in some parts of Spain , you would say "Sam goes slowly".
Hence, since a few years ago, every February 14th, the Spanish internet is full of "wait for me mr. Frodo" style memes. One of our holiest days of the year.
oh and the post would probably make more sense if I actually shared any meme right?
You can't even picture how many variations of the meme people post today. It's all very silly and I love it.
