being a girl and hitting puberty is so traumatic. you go from being a genderless little free thing to being hit with shaving and makeup and growing breasts and skincare and menstruation and suddenly being sexualised when like a few years ago you could take your shirt off to play in the stream and trade yugioh cards with the boys and come home covered in mud and not even think about it. and then you spend years hating being a girl and hating everything puberty did to you and wishing you could be a boy or be completely genderless again and it takes you Many years to come to terms with yourself Or you simply try to Lean In to everything and do makeup tutorials on YouTube and claim it’s for fun. like how can this be treated as normal

I think El & Mike's dynamic in ST was very uninteresting for being such a prominent relationship so here's an AU I thought was a little more fun. Mike and his friend/girlfriend who he is absolutely terrified of

It’s rly funny to me when those super strict mascfem Bylers on twitter that do NOT play about Mike being a dominant alpha daddy and Will being a tiny princess try to prove it with an image. Because it’s like. They don’t realise that they are exclusively seeing what they WANT to see when they look at Byler and to everyone who’s brain isn’t rotted by porn and terminally online arguing they literally just look like the two most average white dudes ever

So many times I’ll see them be like “people will say mascfem, huge height difference, buff x tiny and petite, dominant x little baby Byler isn’t canon, meanwhile THIS is Byler😏” and slap some image on where they LITERALLY just look like two guys. I had to draw an image to demonstrate what it looks like to me

Literally! I don't understand what so many people's obsession with specifying dom/sub and masc/fem is. You guys realize that the dynamic is actually much more interesting if you don't put them in strict boxes? And there's actually no requirement stating that you NEED to specify these things? You don't have to pick a side, you don't have to make one of them big and dominant and the other small and submissive, you can just say "I don't think there would be a power dynamic between them" because most of the time there wouldn't!

I would say it's purely a "thinking with your clit" type of situation but then why are they frothing at the mouth trying to prove that they're "correct" if it really is just a weird personal preference of theirs? Why cite Noah Schnapp being a tad shorter than Finn Wolfhard as "proof" of Will Byers being submissive? Why cite Finn Wolfhard having sharp features as "proof" of Mike Wheeler being dominant? Why try to exaggerate the stereotypical "feminine" features Will has and the stereotypical "masculine" features Mike has? They hate to hear it but it truly is heteronormativity and misogyny all the way down.
