The organizers of the Women’s March just called for a general strike

The activists behind the Women’s March on Washington, a worldwide event that stands as the largest protest in U.S. history, announced Monday morning on Twitter that they will call for a general strike.

“The will of the people will stand,” the organizers announced, though the date and demands for the strike are not yet determined. 

The call for a general strike comes on the heels of similar calls for a nationwide strike from various organizers. Read more

Update: The women’s strike has been set for March 8, International Women’s Day

Following the raucous success of the Women’s March, organizers began planning their next action — a general strike for women nationwide.

Now organizers have sealed the deal: Women will stay home from work, abstain from housework and cease performing emotional labor on March 8 — International Women’s Day.

This is my beautiful mom:

Last year, she had a terrible brain injury that resulted in her inability to work, and gave her mental handicaps

When I moved away from home, she moved her and my little sister 3,000 miles away to be with her family, who promised to support her while she recovered.

However, this month my family cut her off. They stopped paying any of her expenses because they blamed her for a recent tragedy in the family.

My beautiful, wonderful mother is going to become homeless, leaving her and my little sister with no food or housing, and I can’t do anything about it.
