Man I miss free the nipple. Its getting warmer and we don’t even have free the nipple anymore
since it’s pride month, throwback to this beautiful cover and this wholesome interaction between two icons
Oh yeah Floppy is the only pullet. She is becoming beautiful and has a funny hat
i think avoidance is such a little-recognized ocd compulsion. all the time i talk to people with ocd who are like "i was always having intrusive thoughts about using kitchen knives and harming myself or others but i'm okay now because i just stopped using knives ever 👍 so i'm good now"
and i'm like unfortunately i have bad news.
if you don't know why this doesn't work, the issue is that ocd never stops when you implement a compulsion. it evolves. today you've "solved" it by never using a knife again (and losing access to an important cooking tool, thus limiting an aspect of your life) but in a few months or a year it'll be that forks are dangerous too. and hey, isn't it risky to use the stove? avoidance will even begin to manifest in places you might not recognize.
the point is that OCD compulsions are never solutions, they're actually the problems. the intrusive thoughts SEEM like the problem and the compulsions FEEL like the solution. and that's how it getsya.
gender has been severely shrunken down into the domain of language, and I think it's been a serious mistake to prioritize language over all other facets of what gender is and can be
women can have penises and men can have vaginas, and it's great that we understand that, but we've done little in the way of challenging what these body parts mean, what types of people they're attached to, what those people's personalities are like, how dangerous or not dangerous they are, how they think and behave
we may have a little more wiggle room to label ourselves and our bodies now, but in many other ways we are right back where we started, with "amab" and "afab" swapped in for "man" and "woman." saying "women can have penises too!" is really not very progressive at all if you still think her penis makes her dangerous, if you still think it determines her personality and behavior and thoughts
i started watching this video about Lois from Malcolm in the middle and the video essay guy was like "I know they technically have a canon last name but I don't care so I'm going to call them The Malcolms" and he started calling her Mama Malcolm and for some reason this just made me feel so happy. whimsicality and silliness on planet malcolm
What if what Aladdin meant by a whole new world, he was just gonna get Jasmine high as shit to see the world from a stoner’s point of view?
sometimes i randomly think about how much this post sucks and start laughing really hard
i think one of the worst things the left wing internet ever did was push the idea that oppression is basically a virtue, and being oppressed is a sign of your morality. it has made it like…impossible for some of you to hold the idea that most people are privileged in some ways and oppressed in others. AND a lot of you seem to have it in your mind that terrible people cannot be oppressed, and that oppressed people cannot do terrible things, which is a dangerous rhetoric to hold imo.
10 000 dollars a day to every autistic child who grew up into an adult with a weird relationship to eating because parents can in no way be trusted to respect children's issues with food
I agree with you on most things. But I still don't understand how "kill all white people", "kill all yanks", "kill all transmisogynists" or "kill all men" are all understood as an expression of frustration by victimized groups, but suddenly "kill all rapists" or "kill all pedophiles" when expressed by a victim of sexual abuse is bad? "Kill all racists" doesn't mean "have the state murder everyone ever accused of racism" but it does when it's for rape?
Ok, I'm gonna try to make this very clear and simple.
TL;DR version being "if you say 'kill all rapists' you would've cheered the murder of Emmett Till and many others, much like other whites at the time and now did."
Marginalized groups, particularly Black and Transfeminine people, are often falsely accused of being specifically rapists and pedophiles particularly by groups that hold systematic power over them as a basic tool of white supremacy. They do this specifically as justification to kill these marginalized groups, as society often sees marginalized people accused of those things as de facto guilty, compared to for example white men who are often assumed innocent.
Comparatively, marginalized groups are very rarely falsely accused of being yankees, crackers, etc. specifically as justification for a call to murder/lynching/etc. of specific individuals.
The difference is that the material conditions and interactions with white supremacy surrounding these groups you've provided examples of are wildly different. If you are branded a pedophile as a trans women (such as the current US administration has been repeatedly trying to do to all of us lmfao) you will be automatically seen as guilty by many around you and lose a lot of your support network outside of other trans women who have seen the same thing happen.
Meanwhile, if you get accused of being white its just kinda. lol. Its something often easily falsifiable with a picture and a timestamp paper, whereas accusations of being a rapist or pedophile are often non-falsifiable.
So when you say some shit like "kill all pedophiles", a lot of trans women will end up hearing you say that and going "oh you'd want me dead even if I was innocent" because it is often going to be an incitement to mob/vigilante justice, such as "set your local abuser on fire". There's rarely any talk of actual justice, ensuring there's anything beyond the exile and/or death of the target, etc.
Seeking actual justice for everyone involved, especially if the system failed the victim, should still not result in the evaporation of basic human rights for the targeted party, guilty or not.
why the fuck i just got an ad for the concept of beef bourguignon
