More Pokémon Headcanons
Kanto has a similar reputation in the Pokémon World as Australia does in our own, of a country infested with dangerous and poisonous wildlife; 33 out of the 151 Kanto's native Pokémon are Poison type, that’s 21.85%! Over a fifth of all native wildlife to Kanto are poisonous, and this has lead to a reputation as an excessively dangerous place, though this is exaggerated due to Kanto’s small size.
Grimmsnarl and Hatterene’s lines are actually the same species of Pokémon, similar to Miltank and Tauros, they simply have such an extreme level of sexual dimorphism that, prior to their discovery as a single species, they were classified as two separate lines, and for historical reasons as well as their level of divergence, they have remained as such into the present.
As Minior quickly begin to deteriorate if not stabilized after crashing into Earth and losing their protective casing, it is common for forecasts of Minior showers to lead to humans organizing events to capture as many as possible, as the act of catching them causes them to instinctively reduce energy output to the extent that they will stabilize; nobody likes the idea of them withering away through no fault of their own.
The evolution of Tandemaus into Maushold is not as much a mystery as advertised by the Pokédex; they simply have an extreme urge for privacy when they decide to breed, and have extremely large and superprecocial children, leading to a dearth of knowledge on their reproduction habits. As they refuse to breed or give birth if they sense are being watched, it is ‘a mystery’ due to the fact that no good recordings of this occurring exist.
Pokédex entries are sometimes slightly incorrect in my headcanon, but not as incorrect as many believe. Generally speaking, the core information of a Pokédex entry is generally true, but may be exaggerated in some way for emphasis. The entries seen in game are intended for children the (usual) age of our protagonists.
For example, Drifloon and Hypno occasionally do attempt child abduction, as seen in Pokémon Legends Arceus, but only when particularly hungry and bold, and nowadays tend not to, due to the low rate of success in the modern day. This is due to the fact that people now live in cities that make it hard to approach unnoticed, and that incidents have given them an infamous reputation. Now only a truly bold or desperate member of their species would attempt to approach children.
One of the most famous of such incidents occurred in a small city in Kanto, where an irresponsibly purchased and understimulated Hypno began hypnotizing a large amount of children, summoning them to the skyscraper in which it was kept to create a substitute ecosystem for it to live in by forcing the children to behave as fellow Pokémon. All children were successfully recovered.
Spoink’s reputation for bouncing to pump their hearts is a slight misconception; their heart muscle is connected the muscle they use to bounce their tail, so it is more accurate to say that their heart pumping is what causes their tails to bounce, not the other way around. Thus, while a Spoink not bouncing indicates grave illness, it is because their heart is already failing, and holding a Spoink still to keep it from bouncing will not kill it; they will flex their tail muscle regardless if their heart is functioning properly.
This one is actually a long forgotten Pokémon fact! The Pokédex entry for Kadabra mentions; “It happened one morning — a boy with extrasensory powers awoke one in bed transformed into a Kadabra”, but this was never actually intended to be true! The true, full Pokédex entry, as revealed by a 1996 Pokédex published only in Japan that the anime used as the basis for its Pokédex entries, is this; “As a psychic boy awoke one morning, he found himself transformed in bed into a Kadabra.” The crowning of the Kadabra-themed short story “The Transformation” as the 2nd Pokémon literary award winner is still fresh in our memory. If Pikachu can be considered the Pokémon idol, Kadabra can be considered a favorite of those in the know.” That’s right; this entry is actually a reference to Franz Kafka, or at least his Pokémon World counterpart, and thus Kadabra’s Pokédex entry is actually an early introduction to classic literature for children. Unfortunately, due to the inclusion of this fun fact in pokedexes, rumors have started that The Transformation is a true story.
Clodsire’s spines are in fact (like their real life counterpart) their ribs, flexed to be sticking out of their body as a defense measure. This doesn’t hurt them to do, and they’ve evolved to have special areas of thin membranes that heal over easily to coat their spines in toxic mucus when broken, and extra poison glands where the spines poke through.
Despite its violent disposition and speculation prior to the first successful fossil restoration, Aerodactyl was discovered to actually be a herbivore! This isn’t explicit canon, but it actually does have canonical basis! In one of Aerodactyl’s starring episodes in the original anime, Putting The Air Back In Aerodactyl, a key part of the plot is uncovering seeds next to its egg and finding Aerodactyl by tracking down the fruit of its modern descendants, which it is shown happily eating.
All electric rodent Pokémon descend from a recent common ancestor, speculated to have spread so quickly and extensively as a result of their electric abilities allowing them to easily overpower Flying type Pokémon, their most common predator.
Nidorina and Nidoqueen are notorious among Pokemon breeders for never successfully breeding in captivity; while female Nidoran have been successfully bred, more mature members of their species refuse to cooperate with human intervention in their breeding process. It is unknown if this is due to an inherent trait like menopause that prevents them from doing so, or if human intervention disturbs their natural behaviors to the extent that they simply will not breed. Further research is stymied by ethical concerns.
The export of berries or Pokémon from Pinkan Island is a hotly debated topic; some argue to allow Pinkan Berries to be grown as a sustainable method of income for the Pinkan Pokemon Preserve, some argue that exporting berries would worsen the poaching problem that the island continues to struggle with; as it stands, it is currently easy to spot Pokemon poached from Pinkan Island, what with their distinctive coloration. If Pinkan Berries were commonly sold, the argument goes, people could claim their illegally poached Pokemon are in fact mainland Pokemon who happen to have become pink. Debates continue to rage.

Aw man, Team Hotdog is full of a bunch of wieners. We keep getting roasted. I have a feeling we won’t be able to ketchup in points at this rate. I don’t think we’ll get to relish in victory this time.

HOLY FUCK I REMEMBER WHEN MY PARENTS AND I HAD A BREAKFAST AND INVITED SOME FAMILY MEMBERS. WE ALL HAD A GROUP PRAYER AND PRAYED FOR MY COUSIN SINCE HE WAS GETTING MARRIED MY AUNT DECIDED TO OUT PRAY EVERYBODY ELSE, WHO TOOK NO MORE THAN 1-3 MINUTES. NO JOKE, WE WERE THERE FOR 20 MINUTES WHILE SHE REPEATED THE SAME THINGS OVER AND OVER.
how in hell
do you “out pray” someone
I have been in christian circles all my life and never heard of this. everyone in my family prays at meals under 30 seconds because we’re hungry and God didn’t provide us hot food for us to waste it yammering and letting it get cold.
