Weirdly specific confession time!

It really ticks me off when they keep saying mayday mayday mayday in the show. It's just such a weird and out of place thing to make the characters say, especially bobby! Like, sir you are not flying a plane why are you declaring an aeronautic emergency to the 911 operator, she's not your atc guy and you are not a pilot?? Also they are the emergency responders??? It's ok to call for another ambulance or for "backup" i guess, but whenever they go w the mayday call it's so jarring ridiculous it just takes me right out of the story, next thing you know they'll be sending out a pan pan call for an engine broken down on the side of the road😅

I find it hard to actually sit through an episode at this point, the whole time I’m just shaking my head at how pathetic the lines and the storyline is. I love this fandom, I love the characters- but I hate the direction the show as gone.

Im sure endless people have said this, but yeah. I don’t like it anymore, I’m just forcing myself to watch the show cause I don’t wanna give it up.

The more I see on this blog the more it feels like a Eddie supremacy blog, or a 'let's fan the flames of the fandom' than a confessions blog.

As a long term bathena/madney/henren/buck&happiness shipper, he is the character i care about the least as he has zero connection to my ships, and his storylines are pretty boring and pointless. Ravi was a welcome addition, and pushed that Eddie isn't needed at all. I didn't miss him, i actively enjoyed the two parter without him and forgot he even existed.

I also find the actor very...uh...well to be generous, he seems to be bored out of his mind during his scenes so either he's not a great actor, or he's choosing to just say his lines with zero feeling. Everyone else blows him out the water and it's so incredibly obvious. Like I can immerse myself in the story until he's there...and I'm just looking at a guy who is pretending to act.

I honestly don't see how anyone likes the character, there's literally nothing to him, no personality nothing INTERESTING about him. He uses women as babysitters or manipulates them. He has anger issues that's affected his child. He's not a great father half the time. But none of it is addressed, which could be interesting to see...but he literally is just there amongst characters with actual personalities. Nothing changes about him, nothing at all in the past few seasons. He gets a few nice moments, but then it's back to being a dick again, with zero consequences.

He reminds me of shitty guys that think they're a ten when they're a three at best, and who actively hurts and cheats on women who ARE to good for him. Like he's just the shitty guy every woman has dated, who has used her and rinsed her of money before moving onto the next target.

IMHO the actor needs to move on. It would have been better for the story if it had been him to die instead of Bobby. You can just tell he's bored and collecting a paycheck.

Everything I hear about the guy makes me cringe with his he talks about women and his kids as well, like...he almost veers into right wing, tate-esque, tradwife supremacy, which is fucking worrying af.

I genuinely do not understand how the character has so many fans, unless it is literally because they think he has a pretty face, and ignore the lack of substance.

It's hard for multishippers out here. I feel like every time someone mentions any part of the fandom being hard to interact with five people will pop up with "well my dash is fine!" "who are you following?" or "someone doesn't know how to use the block button" My block list has hundreds if not thousands of more account on it than I’m currently following and I still regularly see things in both buddie & bucktommy tags that make me want to scream.

maybe it's hard to find such blogs in the tags. but there's a few safe space communities and discord servers we see in the fandom spaces. it's not the same, but yeah. it sucks.

I see mentioned on both sides that Eddie's and Chris's falling out/reconciliation should have been solved differently, would have needed more time/talking-through/focus/screentime or needed different pacing/approach.

And I kinda have to "sit on my hands" every time to not reply because what I'd *reallllly* like to say is a doylian reply to a watsonian problem and that would be derailing. But the thing is, if they wanted to address the problem/tension between Chris and Eddie *properly*, then they would have to talk about Kim. And I don't think they'd like to talk about Kim. At all. The nicest reply to that whole storyline was clear bafflement/WTF from *any* part of the fandom and I really doubt they want the audience to remember her.

a lot of us, if not all, don't talk about a looooooot of things in our lives that need to be talked about. we honestly don't believe the directors/writers care about the kim storyline.

watsonian perspective (named after dr. john watson, from sherlock holmes lit.):

you interpret the story from inside the universe.

everything happens for a reason within the story’s world.

example: "why did eddie do this?" —you answer based on his personality, history, or motivations (repressed, grieving, etc.) as if he's a real person.

doylist perspective (named after sir arthur conan doyle, who created sherlock holmes):

you interpret the story from outside the universe.

everything happens because the author (or writers, producers, etc.) made a choice.

example: "why did a eddie do this?" —you say, "because the writers needed drama", or "because christopher was leaving the show for school."

so, "a doylist reply to a watsonian problem" means—

someone (us) asks a question that assumes the story world is real (watsonian), but the answer given explains it based on behind-the-scenes reasons (doylist).

in this context:

watsonian question: "why did eddie do it? it doesn’t seem like him." doylist answer: "because the writers needed to write something for eddie and let christopher go, so that the actor can leave the show."

I know you said previous LI actors/actresses didn’t get this kinda hate before Tommys actor but I remember Taylors actress getting trashed tbh, as well as Marisols (although I think she said some questionable stuff).

I do understand people getting upset with these actors/actresses if they are saying horrible things so its definitely a weird grey area. I don’t want to say people shouldn’t be held accountable just because they’re actors/actresses but some people definitely go to far :(

As much as I love Buddie I’m glad they didn’t get together in the finale. The finale was a mess and everyone was ooc (except maybe chimney who was kinda a vibe)

I think if they actually do a full romance/pinning arc in season 9 the result will be more satisfying than if they were just thrown together as an attempt to keep viewership up.

I know some people said they wanted at least something in the finale and I agree, but I guess we got them looking at each other with heart eyes? Although at this point I’m pretty sure thats just how the actors look at each other 😭

So I’m not calling anything queerbaiting yet, especially since one character is canonically Bi and the show isn’t cancelled, so I’m holding out hope!

*also just want to say people attacking the actors and saying they were queerbaiting are morons. You have no idea what the actors get told about their characters, and from what we know the script constantly changes, or scenes get cut. For all we know they could have filmed “buddie” scenes that were cut, or reshot scenes last minute. People need to remember, they just work there.

I hate to say it cause ship wars are stupid, but majority of the Eddie hate comes from Tommy fans that started watching in season 7.

They deadass see Eddie as competition to their ship, so they attack every little thing he does (which is insane cause I can name quite a few bad things Tommy has done in his 4 minutes of screen time)

I’ve genuinely never been able to form an opinion on Tommy (because again he’s literally just a plot device) but I have quite a few opinions on his fans…

I love Buddie. Been shipping it since season 4 but buddies now keep being dicks and stalking the set and continuing the hate on LI actors.... its really ruining the vibe. Can't we just write fic and make gifs without our reputation being "they ruined the gay firefighter show"
