EXTENDED HIATUS!

Hey, y’all. 

I don’t wanna make a “retirement” post or anything like that - I know myself, I just might be back here in a few months’ time - but, simply put, I don’t have the time or energy for RP right now. I’m 28 years old and life’s just moving a little bit fast right now, and I think it’ll be moving even faster pretty soon.

It’s been incredible RPing Sigma, Diana, and Phi over the last couple years, as well as the many other muses I’ve had in the more than half-decade I’ve been on Tumblr. I’ve had a truly wonderful time with ‘em, and, who knows, maybe they’ll pop up in some Discord RP once in a while? For now, though, I’m saying goodbye, and you can still find me on my personal blog. A couple small things I’d be 1000% down for!

A reunion thread between Kuni and anyone else who was on the Gigantic during the original Nonary Game. Full names & codenames redacted to avoid spoilers, but… if you just so happen to RP someone with the last name Kurashiki or Field, yeah. Yeah. Talk to me.

The main verse doesn’t exactly describe this (since I want to keep it vague for ease of threads), but, despite learning English from an early age, Kuni’s only been in America for less than a year. He doesn’t quite know everything in regards to culture. Help a dude out.

Obviously, I couldn’t RP a rookie spy without wanting a thread where his cover is horribly blown. Hey, isn’t that dude in the near-empty parking garage also in your English class? Go on, ask him if he’s ready for the midterm next week. Nothing bad’ll happen, I swear.

Mara smiled at the kindness of the stranger. Given her economic and health conditions, she knew she had to rely on others and this rainy day she had to forget her umbrella.

“Thank you, sir,” she said, “If you don’t mind, can you get me to the supermarket? Today is sale day, so I need to take advantage of the situation, even if it’s raining. In fact, I intend to buy an umbrella.”

“Not a problem,” came a happy reply. “There’s a few things I’ve been putting off getting, so... if they’ve got sales today, might as well see it through, right?”

He began walking at a slow pace, making sure the umbrella’s span was enough to cover both of them. As long as the wind didn’t pick up, this wouldn’t be too bad.

She sighs. Of course, that would be the case. This generation tended to be more secular- sooner or later, religion, temples might be a thing of the past. Back when she was alive, she was an exception, but that had only been because of her grandmother. “Really? Oh, well that sucks.”

Nevertheless, she shrugs. True it would have been helpful if the boy did have some knowledge in spiritual matters. But, she would take what she could get. Her options in this were quite limited, anyways. “I’m still gonna need you anyhow. You’re the one they were saying would fit the job best. What’s your name, by the way? I’m Mana.”

The good news was that she wasn’t trying to eat, maim, or otherwise cause Kuniaki bodily harm. The bad news was... well, everything else. Ghosts were real, one of them specifically sought him out, and there was probably no way he could get out of this.

“I’m... Kuniaki. Kuniaki Okada.” Even the way he said his own name was filled with doubt, like it wasn’t even meant to be his, if this was his destiny. “I-I’m sorry, u-uh... you said a they? Who are they? And why me?”

Having his feelings validated by this stranger helps him calm down. Well, at the very least, he isn’t quite as mad. It’s going to take a while for this to pass.

Kuniaki could’ve moved on then and there, but he felt like sticking around. Something rather appealed to him, bringing down those hoity-toity snobs inside. What could be worse for a restaurant’s business than two twenty-somethings loudly talking about what arrogant pricks the owners were?

“More money than sense is right! Anyone who’s lived here for a few years surely knows that Le Yeah has better food and superior customer service. The garçon there doesn’t discriminate. But when we’re talking High Roller... hey, the more people they turn away, the sooner they’ll go outta business.”

Hey everyone! Sorry for a little radio silence here. It’s been a busy time, working multiple 45-hour weeks and taking care of a bunch of other stuff offline. Even though today’s my day off, I’m just kinda drained, y’all. The six threads I owe here (as well as all the stuff I owe on @notevenjupiter and @threelaws) are all in drafts, slowly being taken care of, but I’m actually not gonna start posting anything until Friday, just so I can clear things out in an orderly way.

        he was hesitant to knock at first and for good reason too. but LAZER had no choice in the matter. work was work. once he received a response, he had to keep going.   “    someone called and said th’ person living here… “ he paused to look at the slip in his hand and recite the note word for word. “    needed their brass ballcock oiled. “  probably was another prank call sending him to a random address, but he came prepared. a can in case it did need oiling, and also a screwdriver. just in case this went south fast. plumbing was a messy business. 

Kuniaki had peered through the semi-open door with apprehension and a bit of worry. Yes, he had a normal apartment like everyone else, but it wasn’t an address he liked to give out to strangers. This guy didn’t seem like someone he knew from school. And yet... this plumber’s explanation sounded reasonable, didn’t it? There was nothing confidential in here, and he didn’t want to give off the reputation of being a hermit, especially if some real plumbing work actually needed doing.

“Did the landlord send you?” He replied, finally opening the door. “If it’s maintenance work, I missed have missed a text from him, but it’s fine. I just got this apartment, so I don’t even know where my ballcock is located. Is that something in the kitchen?”

Internally, he was absolutely kicking himself for letting his guard down so much, that he could just be so casually bumped into in public - but, at least none of that was getting to the surface. He was all smiles.

It would be risky to let Kuniaki join Free the Soul since that in the past they have done things that are both morally questionable and illegal. Despite Brother’s efforts to destroy any incriminating evidence, there’s still the possibility that he could find something against him.

Outright revealing that he is aware of Kuniaki’s position as a spy could result in him reacting badly and causing an unnecessary commotion because he might not know of Delta’s mind hack abilities. Instead, the old man questions the secret agent in the hopes of him blowing up his cover:

“It’s not that I reject applicants, it’s more about the fact that you didn’t come to know that I’m associated with Free the Soul through regular means. Otherwise, you would have already been a member.”

The old man did have a point there. There’s no way Kuniaki should have known that this weird but frail man lead such a powerful organization. And his overacting - eyes closed, hands in fists - well, that wasn’t helping things.

He straightened back up, wiping a little tear with his sleeve, but unable to let any of his present emotion subside. Any change would be an obvious break. Instead... he’d have to keep lying. Keep lying, and keep building on every single previous lie, until it was so impossible to believe that it was believable again.

With few other options, he began synthesizing everything he knew about Free the Soul into a single, fictional person.

“I met a man,” he said in between heavy breaths. “He had long, flowing blonde hair, and a golden coat. He talked about purifying the world, of restoring morality and order, finally ending centuries of humanity fighting against each other. And he told me that he was a holy messenger, but his master was here on Earth. To be in the new family of the world... I would have to be approved by Brother.”

Malcolm’s standing outside Sushi High Roller. He was trying to get a reservation but was promptly told to leave.
