it takes years to learn the difference between who to let go and who to be patient with. the same way it takes years to know what you deserve and what you don’t. so hang on there, growth and experience come with time.

19th century spiked metal wolf collar, worn by sheep herding dogs or dogs guarding livestock to protect them from wolf attacks.
RIP to one of the stupidest publicity stunts of the modern era
They claimed it was to promote the culinary school scholarships they were giving to two women but then they spent over 4x the amount of the scholarships on advertising for the scholarships.
the one problem i have with people my age and younger is that a lot of us do not have hands on hobbies. like i have spoken to so many people my age who go to work, go to school and then fuck around on their phone/computer for hours and then ???????? like no wonder ur depressed and have low confidence in urself. u need to get ur hands on something, feed those dopamine receptors! learn how to play guitar, garden, scrapbook, fucking make model trains. i don’t give a shit, MAKE SOMETHING!!
it feels better than drugs when i finish making a thing—and then show it off or gift it.
and then so people my age say to me ‘well—i can’t draw/paint/knit/etc. like you can. my stuff would be terrible.’ yeah, well duh—a part of developing skill is sucking at something and then practicing it over and over and over again until you suck less. u’ll have a hard time feeling lonely or bored when you can’t stop thinking abt a technique you want to try or something you want to make for someone else. making things has SAVED MY LIFE. it gave me a reason to keep living day after day when i wanted to die.
making things improved my generational relationships (when i worked for the newspaper i would talk to customers abt jamming recipes or cross-stitch, one of my grandmas always gives me pattern books and tell me abt when she knitted things for mom, my other grandma is giving me a wedding quilt that HER grandma gave her 50 years ago because she knows i will appreciate it). it also got me likeminded friends who also make things.
take a ceramics class! pick up water colors, bake cakes! learn to work on cars! make soap. DO SOMETHING THAT DOESN’T INVOLVE STARING AT A SCREEN.
she snapped!!!!!
i’m gonna piggyback onto this, if you don’t know how to do things not-online, start off by transferring the shit you do online, to the physical realm. You like doing little puzzles/sudokos and games and stuff online? Buy a sudoko or wordgames book at your local shops and dedicate 10 minutes a day to doing a physical puzzle instead of an online one. Like writing, do it in a google doc? Well, google is evil, but commit to writing or just planning by hand before moving it onto the computer. Changing formats can also help your brain juices flow better. Any tiktok or viral vids of stuff you like watching, like painting or dancing or sea shanties? Start trying to paint, sing or dance along, get your body moving. I’ve been in the trap of only having screen-based hobbies and it really is hard to break out of that mindset.
Oblique Strategies (subtitled Over One Hundred Worthwhile Dilemmas) - created by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt and first published in 1975. Each card offers an aphorism intended to help artists (particularly musicians) break creative blocks by encouraging lateral thinking.
These cards evolved from our separate observations of the principles underlying what we are doing. Sometimes they were recognized in retrospect (intellect catching up with intuition), sometimes they were identified as they were happening, sometimes they were formulated. They can be used as a pack (a set of posibilities being continuously reviewed in the mind) or by drawing a single card from a shuffled pack when a dilemma occurs in a working situation. In this case the card is trusted even if it appropriateness is quite unclear. They are not final, as new ideas will present themselves, and others will become self-evident. - Brian Eno

What's a system? I've heard and seen people announcing themselves as one but nobody has really explained what it is and I'm confused
So a Person with Dissociative Identity Disorder or DID usually will refer to themselves as a system given they are system of different people inhabiting the same body, thats like super bare bones explanation, its best to ask some who is a system and who has DID
Hi! I have DID :)
The phenomenon of people calling themselves systems is actually not really a "usually" sort of thing, most ppl w DID don't refer to themselves as such, and it's considered more "correct" if you don't have DID to use the phrase "person with DID" unless the person themselves has clarified they prefer the term "system." It's more common on the internet to see people calling themselves systems, and also mostly because not everybody w DID discloses they have it. It's sort of like confirmation bias, most people online calling themselves systems are the most likely to be running blogs openly talking about DID. Everyone with DID has a system, but may not refer to themselves as a system.
Additionally, parts in DID systems are not actually different people inhabiting the same body, and it can be really harmful to make that analogy both because it can reinforce dissociative barriers, and because all parts should be held accountable for a person with DID's actions, which is not the case for seperate people. If another part did something hurtful, it's still my responsibility to apologise and try to mitigate the damage. Also, since parts in DID systems are not actually seperate people, they cannot for example have a different race or claim certain privileges/disprivileges as the body.
