I feel so trapped here. My title is a support technician, the job description was just like first line support. Which I hate but it paid better than where I was. I do a lot beyond that tho. I’ve spent the last 5 weeks or so extremely frustrated and miserable with my job. They are paying for my master’s degree in health informatics. So I’ve been trying to stay. Maybe 2 months ago I applied to a lot of jobs, a lot business analyst or health informatics stuff that I seemed reasonably qualified for. The only thing I head back was from a recruiter who could only offer me job in first line IT support, that would pay less. I used to think about just quitting and maybe working as a server again. But I can’t take that pay cut. We won’t be able to afford our apartment or keep planning our wedding. We’d have to postpone it a lot.

But I’m so miserable here. I’ve taken 4 of the stupidly small dosage of Xanax I’ve been prescribed to try to take the edge off. I learned I may have to drop a class and stay here longer to have my degree paid for. Not like I feel like things would be better leaving anyways. I hate this place so much. Back when I was in therapy my therapist was questioning if my masters getting paid for was worth staying here. And it’s probably not. But I don’t think I can get anything I’d like more. I feel stuck in this horrible line of work. I’ve cried here many times out of stress and just how much I hate here. I’m constantly take Xanax or having kratom to take the edge off work. My first job in this field kinda gave me a bit of drinking problem, I was constantly showing up hungover to work.

There’s this tiny glimmer of hope. I applied for a new position here. It’d probably be less horrible. And then I’d still get my degree paid for. And probably more money. But I feel like they are going to make it take ages for me to get it, if they decide that I can have it.

I need something better. That new position feels like the only chance of anything slightly better and it might help me escape the horrible world of first line IT support. I just don’t know how much more of this I can stand.

So I just found out that I'm the only internal person who applied for this new position. But the VP wants to have more people apply first so they are going to open it up to the public. To me this feel like she doesn't want to give me the job at all. I don't understand the job description for it is almost exactly what I currently do. And she's told me before that she's going to try to help me find something I like more. Like why is this happening.

Tip for witches with anxiety

I have a hard time discerning when my anxiety is acting up and when my intuition is telling me something. This is just how I help myself tell the difference.

Anxiety is more…pulse racing, shaky feelings. It’ll go “something’s wrong!!” But won’t say what. When I try to figure out what’s wrong so I can do something, nine times out of ten it’s something I’m already anxious about.

Intuition is more of a gut feeling. I feel it less whole-body and more in my chest/stomach area. If it says “something’s wrong” and I ask “what?” Intuition will tell me “that energy in the corner is off” or “you need to sit down and meditate/divine about it.” Intuition tells me what’s going on (not always that something is wrong) and gives me an inkling of what to do about it.

Anxiety is more “impending disaster” and intuition is more of a call to pay attention. It’s not a foolproof method. I’ve definitely had intuition tell me that something is impending and wrong (but still gave me a hint of how to fix it) and I’ve had anxiety keep me aware of things to where I’m more cautious about things.

But overall, this is how I tend to discern if it’s my anxiety or my intuition. Also, I have a pretty big tendency to confirm things with my pendulum, even just asking “is this my anxiety?” It can be handy to have that around in order to help figure out if you’re really being intuitive or just anxious.

My family constantly makes me feel I'm a bitch. I feel like they spend a lot of the time trying to guilt trip me. Most of the time when I was in therapy was spent talking about my mom and how anxious she makes me and how I lose myself around her to avoid conflict. My dominant memory of my dad is him yelling at me, like I have extreme anxiety around cleaning in front of people now because of him. My dad is getting surgery again soon bc he lost a lot of blood when something from a previous surgery had an issue or something. I left work early to drive my mom to the airport to go see him. My sister was totally off work, and didn't help. Honestly I was just annoyed. I had to listen to my mom complain about my car and complain about my music (I made an effort to pick something that wouldn't bother her as much too) till she changed it. Today I feel like I made a mistake reaching out to her, I have a capstone course fast approaching and needed to find a mentor for the project and was hoping she might know someone. It led to being like idk what I'm supposed to do, I'm gonna follow up with people. But she called me and went on and on about it all and I'm stressed as fuck about. I was almost crying about this earlier and I'm worried I'm going to be told I have to drop the class. Then she brings up my dad, who she sometimes seems to extremely hate, and was being super annoyed at me for by seeming more concerned or something. Maybe I'm horrible for not caring more. I probably am. I just feel so drained. I feel trapped at my job which I'm miserable me at. They are paying for my masters degree. And when I recently tried job hunting I heard nothing back other than a recruiter who could maybe offer the same kind of work I do now but with less pay and worse benefits. And school is stressing me out. And I've lost any passion I might have had for the subject. I feel so used to my family thinking I'm a bitch. I don't have the energy to try to change it. I should be asleep but all of this has my stomach in knots and me feeling dizzy. I wish things felt easier.

One of my favourite tea blends: Lavender Earl Grey Cream! Made by one of my favourite local tea maker, Tea Lani, it has Earl Grey, Lavender, Marigold and Vanilla. I decided to use the vintage sterling silver tea strainer that was gifted to me from my brother. It has a monogram L on it (I am named after a flower that starts with L!) and I shifted it to the left so that the tea visible in the cup mimics the current moon phase, which is Waxing Crescent. We’re also having a thunder shower here, so I caught a few drops of the rain into the tea. After spending some time going through a shedding phase of releasing a lot of negativity, I wanted to gather some energy for growth again.
