It drives me insane how many people are awed at the ability of chatbots to do "plain language search queries" (they are actually pretty bad at it and lie about the content of their source links constantly but I digress) as if we jumped straight from year 2000 Yahoo! keyword searches to Google Gemini. In 2015 you could easily perform effective search queries on Google using the vaguest plain language and it would figure them out with stunning accuracy. You didn't have to waste time "conversing" with a chatbot and could use hard search operators to modify it if need be, without having to guess the language the search engine needed to hear to bring up the correct result. Then in early 2019 Google began hobbling their own search engine because they wanted users to wander aimlessly through irrelevant links and maybe increase revenue by accidentally clicking ads. We didn't need to spend $1 trillion to do what Google did over a decade ago with added hallucinations, time wasting activities, and insane amounts of computing power. That was a completely artificial scenario that didn't need to happen for plain language search queries at all.

I saw a poll a while ago that I don't remember if I rb'd, but it was about your most stereotypical US American trait. One of the options was "I smile at strangers" and I definitely do that -- and have done so in other countries.
