Reading is magic by TaijaVigilia
Chapter 42 of Prisoners is almost ready for Ao3, and is a whooping 6,709 words. I plan to spend another week rereading it for edits before I post.
Be our guest at Beauty and the Beast Week, August 24–30, 2026!
We're creating fanworks celebrating all variations of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! Save the date and start drafting your creations!
Anyone can join, and all types of fandom works are welcome: fanfic, fanart, podfic, gifsets, edits, mood boards, memes, etc. Each work must contain at least one Disney BatB character (crossovers, OCs, and reader-inserts are allowed too!), be newly created for the event, and not use AI. See the full rules and FAQ.
This year, our theme is ✨Magic✨ and the prompts work a little differently. Every day has 1 magical phrase that you can use verbatim in a fic or comic, as well as 1 magical item and 3 magical concepts that you can use to inspire any sort of fanwork.
(Text version of prompts and condensed version of prompts banner below the “Keep reading” link)
Even though the theme for the prompts is magic, your works do NOT have to include magic. For instance, you can take the “spell” prompt and write a story about Belle winning a spelling bee. Or you can take the “Say the magic word” prompt and draw a comic of Beast being grumpy about having to say please. The prompts are meant to expand your ideas to new things you haven’t tackled before, not limit them to strict topics. That being said, you can of course also create works that are about the literal things in the prompts. Whatever inspires you! And if you’re stuck, there are plenty of free ideas at #inspiration.
You do NOT need to use all the prompts on a day, just one.
You do NOT need to post on all the days, just one.
Send an ask or DM if you have any questions! Hosted by @firawren
Please reblog this post to spread the word! You’re also free to repost either of the prompts banners (condensed version below the cut) on your own blog or any other social media and link them back to this post.
Text version of prompts:
Day 1: “Say the magic word” ~ mirror ~ wish, charm, bewitched
Day 2: “Voilá!” ~ wand ~ curse, ceremony, power
Day 3: “Abracadabra” ~ cauldron ~ spell, transform, disappear
Day 4: “What’s up your sleeve?” ~ cloak ~ illusion, mystery, witch hunt
Day 5: “Is this your card?” ~ top hat ~ trick, showtime, disguise
Day 6: “Prepare to be amazed” ~ smoke ~ glamor, enchanted, wonder
Day 7: Free day! ~ Any work with at least 1 Disney BatB character

people telling you they reread your fic is the biggest compliment you could ever receive. there are thousands of stories out there begging to be found, to be explored, but your story meant so much to someone that they came back to it eagerly, they went over every word again. to love is to return and loving a fic is rereading it. thank you to all readers and rereaders <3333
It's my 13 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳
honestly, having flexibility in your headcanons is such an important skill to develop as a fandom participant. like, it's great to have strong opinions of your own, but don't you want to hear what strong opinions others hold? I love being compelled by a passionate argument! go off! tell me something I don't assume! give me the tea that's not inherent to my watching!

Gaston never fails to be a creep in every AU I write him in. Good news is, he always gets what's coming to him.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1991)
dir. gary trousdale and kirk wise
As she looked deeper into his eyes, she noticed something she hadn’t seen before. It was so obvious she wondered how she hadn’t noticed it sooner. They were empty, devoid of any trace of the man she’d once known. There was no darkness, no sadness, no anger, nothing that made Sato the passionate and spirited soul she’d come to care for. Instead, his eyes were filled with stillness, tranquility, and light. Like she was looking into a calm, clear pond—beautiful and untroubled, but utterly lifeless.
And she understood, without even questioning it, that she was looking at Sato as he might have been. A perfect Jedi Knight, who’d never been hardened by war, never felt the betrayal of his kind, never known years of loss and despair. Their adventures together were not forgotten memories to him; they’d never happened in the first place.
And that was absolutely devastating. It was so devastating, she felt like her heart was about to shatter into a million pieces.
Another beautiful commission by @drawnby27emilys, depicting a scene from Chapter 27 of my BatB x Star Wars crossover, Prisoners of Fate. She deserves all the praise for coming up with the dress for Kore from scratch, and even including small details, like Sato’s lightsaber, based off a custom design I sent her. Thank you again, Emily, for your amazing work!

(Since I've been painfully slow with updating Prisoners, and feel like I owe at least a bit of a new snippet for Star Wars day so people know I'm still working on it).
“I haven’t seen another Jedi since… Well, it feels like a long time.” There was a strange heaviness to Cal's voice, like he was holding back more than he was letting on. “So when I heard about you from Kore, and that the Empire had captured you, I knew I had to help. It was this sense. This feeling in the Force, I guess. What about you?” He hesitated for a moment, then met Tyron’s gaze again. “Have you ever felt the Force pulling you toward something, even if you weren’t really sure why?”
Tyron took a moment to consider his answer. It was an oddly personal question, and he had to wonder if Cal had asked it to keep him from prying into his real reasons for cutting ties with Saw Gerrera. Then again, Cal had been on his own for Force knew how long; likely dealing with years of loneliness and uncertainty after losing everything to the Empire. Things Tyron could very much relate to, even though he’d rather talk about anything else.
He thought back to the first time he chose to save Kore from Mirfak, even when it would’ve been easier to look out for himself. To meeting Master Anteros and agreeing to take him on as a mentor despite his initial mistrust of him. To stepping in to save Cal from the Fourth Sister, even though he’d had little to gain from it. None of these decisions had made sense at the time. But in the end, they’d all led him here. That had to mean something.
“Not often,” he replied. “But the moments when I have, I can’t say I’ve regretted it.”
Cal smiled, his shoulders relaxing a little. “Me too.”
I recently commissioned the wonderful @drawnby27emilys to create this concept drawing of Belle and Adam (aka Kore and Sato/Tyron) as they appear in my Star Wars fusion crossover, Prisoners of Fate. In this AU, Adam is an embittered Jedi fugitive who survived Order 66, while Belle is a dreamer from the Outer Rim who longs for adventure and the chance to fight against the Empire. Our goal with this drawing was to take two of Belle and Adam’s signature outfits from the 1991 film and translate them into something that could passably make them look like characters from the Star Wars universe. It was a lot of fun to collaborate with her on this project, and I'm excited to share the finished product with all of you!
you get a comment on tumblr. it's a bot trying to scam you. you get a DM. it's a bot trying to scam you. you get a message on instagram. its a bot trying to scam you. you're an author and you get an email telling you how much they loved your book and want to showcase it at their bookclub. it's a bot trying to scam you (and it uses bad AI to pretend it knows your story). you get a comment on ao3 saying how much they love your fic - and they made you fanart!! it's a bot trying to scam you. you get a hate comment on ao3 which insults your writing or calls you a monster for writing something "problematic". it's a bot. but at least that one isn't trying to scam you.
there's just something really cruel and insidious about this wave of scams going after creatives. You get an email and think someone genuinely loved what you made but - no. It's another scam. It's someone trying to trick you into sending them money. On AO3, it might literally just be a bot someone made specifically to be a hateful little shit.
putting the stuff you've made out there for everyone to see is hard and scary and we're all just bumping around looking for a bit of appreciation and love and connection and these bastards are using that to try to rob us. I hate it.
Im going go get into the sea and stay there
okay come forward which of you reposted this to reddit lmao I SEE YOU
Okay everybody go leave a comment on the fics you're reading, find your favorite author's social media and tell them you liked their book, and comment on your favorite artist's YouTube or Bandcamp page, go go gooooo.
