Jemma❤️🩹 oh jemma I miss you so much i yearn for you every day and night
television comedy peaked at "get ready for a large file transfer" *pushes filing cabinet out a fourth story window*
leopold james fitz ruining my life with his face.
GOD HIS GLOWUP NEEDS TO BE STUDIED
Fitz + his love of horror films
bad media will piss you off good media will heal your soul bad media that couldve been good will ruin your life forever
as much as i love the hive arc and how good it was, i hate seeing THAT MAN on my screen.
Fitz and his pillow - the saga
(It’s my head-canon that the pillow hugging is a self-soothing gesture from his abused childhood.)
agents of shield season 4, 5 and 6 spoilers (felix this warning is for you, DONT look)
not to be immature about fandom discourse but. did aos fans miss the bit where aida was abusing and manipulating fitz for around a decade within the framework. do people still think the change of having his father present was 'what he wanted' and not an obvious ploy for aida to skirt around her programming and get a human body. and do we really still think that daisy being in there for a couple of days at most while retaining her memories is in any way comparable to the years he experienced in the simulation. and did we forget that the doctor taking out daisy's inhibitor a) was against fitz's will, and b) literally saved the world. meanwhile daisy has a temper tantrum and nearly kills everyone multiple times, and somehow she's STILL seen as a trusty leader?
and dont even get me started on the fact that fitz risked everything for daisy when she first got her powers. she was seen as a violent danger and everyone was saying she had a disease that needed to be cured, but he went in and hugged, telling her she's not broken she's just different
compared to daisy choking fitz (yeah, choking the guy who was disabled and traumatised after hypoxia, great idea) with her powers after he had a psychic break, then locking him up and not bothering to think WHY a man left alone in a government cell for 6 months (after experiencing what felt like decades of an alternate reality) might have some trouble distinguishing reality
don't get me wrong, she was definitely owed an extensive apology for the inhibitor thing, and he shouldn't expect forgiveness from her (which he didn't anyway, EVEN when he knew it was against his will, EVEN when it saved the world), but the way she retaliated by throwing him against a wall and randomly calling him a nazi (as if daisy wasn't also a hydra agent in the framework?) was childish, yet everyone lets her go on being a crappy leader after that. I was really disappointed in the writers with daisy because she's constantly treated like a saint, and any character who disagrees with her is treated like a hardass and a temporary obstacle. she's an interesting character with great potential, but the writers constantly seemed convinced that she needed to be right all the time
it will always sadden me that she never got to reconcile with that version of fitz, because I think that could've been cathartic for both of them. I have a feeling the writers killed that version of fitz purely because they didn't want to deal with the dynamic that would follow that psychic break, or simply because they wanted the space plot of having jemma and daisy tracking down the cryosleeping version of fitz--which feels utterly hollow when daisy doesn't seem to trust or even like the guy anyway. it felt like 'oh, we fucked up the relationship with him, time to get a new one'. felt like a big disservice to all the character building and the dynamic that'd grown between them over the years, all for some unresolved, poorly written drama

one of my favorite aos friendships is Fitz and Mack. It's a CRIME how underrated this comedic duo is. Not only were they funny BUT i love how the friendship kicked off based on mack being curious and patient with fitz and not treating him with pity and caution everyone else did. Like, there's this scene on s2 where mack tells simmons something along the lines of "look, i didn't know the old fitz. i only know this one, and i like him. he's a little weird, but I like him" like COME ON and mack's facial expressions whenever fitz and simmons were in the same room looking EVIDENTLY uncomfortable and awkward as fuck and he's like "listen, i'm going to go to the garage" and fitz is all "what? no, why?" bc god forbid he's left alone with simmons after she returned from hydra, so mack gives him this 'really?' look and with now fucks to give, with simmons RIGHT THERE, he goes "because the awkard silence betwenn you two... is killing me. i'm out" and mf LEAVES LMAOO he dropped the mic on that one
Oh gosh I am never prepared for the Fitzsimmons hug in the supply closet, like Simmons has been so strong up until this point, she’s been so calm, she has done everything she can to keep Skye alive and she’s doing far better than most in her field would do in this situation, but she’s just a kid fresh out of uni in what feels like a world of heroes and gods and monsters with her hands covered in her friend’s blood that are shaking so violently she can even clean them and it’s just too much, but here’s Fitz, the one who knows her best in all the world, who followed her because despite her seeming calm he must have heard the panic in her voice, read it in her face, who usually can’t shut up for complaining and gags at the sight of blood, not saying a word, reading all the pain in her face and just holding her, being steady when she can’t, as she sobs and not saying a thing about the blood she’s probably getting all over his jacket and AUGH
So how likely do you think it is that Coulson was pretending to be Captain America during The Kiss™
sometimes I look at the devil complex and sigh, because it's probably one of the worst episodes in aos. I'm saying that because I hate that the only reason why they made fitz lash out during a psychotic episode of his WAS FOR THE PLOT?? Realistically they would've gotten both daisy and fitz the help they needed after that scenario, but instead they just forgot about it?😭 What the hell man
I'll add to this that the only reason they had him go so far was because they knew they would be killing him at the end of the season to address the plothole they wrote themselves into. Had they not created a 2-Fitz problem, they would not have had him do it or they would have properly addressed it. The plot twist itself is ableist because it was never suitably addressed after the one incident. That's not how psychosis or DID work. They don't just disappear immediately after a single incident. It was the rare unearned plot twist in a show that typically landed their plot twist.
In a way, I'm relieved that they didn't keep him on account that the alternative to giving Iain a great and tragic death scene was making one of the Fitz's The Doctor permanently, which I would have hated. As much as Jemma deserves 2 Fitz's, I do not trust the writers to resist such an outcome.
yes! i agree completely with what you said. It annoys me greatly because as much as i love agents of shield they were terrible at handling their characters mental health, typically going down the stereotyping route instead of trying to add realism. Not only that, but they never let it dwell on the characters - they just upped it to the max whenever the plot needed pushing. Am i saying i want them all to suffer every second of the episode? kind of, if that’s how it is in real life i really dont see how that’s bad (i strive for good representation okay)

Fandoms and many amateur authors seem to confuse complexity with being morally grey and that's the biggest point fandom conflicts stem from.
Grey Morality ≠ Realistic ≠ Complex
A character having different façades or flaws is complexity. The purest, most ethical characters can still have them without changing their ethical alignment.
fanfic writers who type their works directly onto ao3 instead of copy-and-pasting from elsewhere have no fear. fear fears them.
I think people would be less suicidal if they were allowed to talk about being suicidal without risk of being sent to the Torture Dungeon
