My Favorite Book Series:
Wings of Fire
Specifically the third arc, I just love the concept of HiveWings, SilkWings, and LeafWings. But the last two books sorta spiraled into absurdity for me, I would have preferred a simple rebellion story, not a "the world is in danger and we have to save it!" type story. But overall, the third arc is still my favorite.
How I discovered I was a dragon:
Saphira (movie version) helped me figure out what I look like! While I'm not part of the Eragon universe, I share many physical traits with Saphira. Sometimes when I hyperfixate on dragon stuff, it makes me question whether it's a kintype or not, so I usually have to wait for the hyperfixation to fade before I can really tell. Usually, it means this kintype-like feeling fades with the hyperfixation. Not so with my silver Saphira-like form! This feeling of "this is me, this is who I am" stuck around after my interest in the movie faded.
How I discovered I was a goddess:
My MaDD (maladaptive daydreaming disorder) is a huge part of this. For many years now, my daydream world hasn't changed much. While the narrative changes frequently (on a daily basis), some characters and locations have become permanent, they're always part of my daydreams, they're always a part of me.
My husband King Solaris of the Angels (whom I miss very much), my doctor Corvus, the silver knights, the stone wyverns, the Lunar Sea, the forests, the mountains... these are all permanent.
In this world, also exists my idealized self. The goddess of Latria. The silver dragon. The goddess of souls and magic.
This idealized version of myself is permanent, and hasn't changed for many years. Which leads me to believe I am her in some way. I know, it sounds bizarre, or wrong, but that's how I feel. I am her. I... can't change that.
(Back when I was a kid, I could change my daydream self whenever I wanted, but that doesn't seem possible anymore)
My Forever Husbando:

My phone won't charge anymore, and no matter how much we try to fix it, it just won't charge. So we're moving all important stuff into our SD card, and saving up to buy a new phone.
WE WILL BE AFK FOR AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF TIME.
I don't know when I'll get a new phone (hopefully by the end of the month), but we don't know when we'll return.
Because polls get the most engagement I’m making a poll lol
(For the sake of this poll: a collector is anyone who *currently has* a collection of things either physically or digitally that they intentionally acquired which can be grouped together)
Are you a collector?
I am, I have a single collection
I am, I have multiple collections
I am not but I would like to have a collection
I am not. I don’t want a collection
I am not but I was previously a collector
I do not fit the definition you gave for this poll but consider myself one
Voting ended onOct 16, 2023
Please please please please pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase tell me what you collect and optionally why!!!! (This is doubly true if your collection is related to a regulatory/“special” interest!!!!!!! That’s honestly the only reason I’m making this poll, I am begging youuuuuuuuuuu
Neurodivergent related tags are for reach as I know a lot of neurodiverse people are collectors. I do try my best not to clutter those tags, if anyone has an issue with it please tell me and I’ll remove them
HiveWings in my headcanon of WoF are small (yet brawny) carnivorous dragons that largely resemble insects in the order Hymenoptera (bees, wasps, ants, etc.)
They are the smallest dragon tribe, with the average adult HiveWing standing just as tall as the smallest adult SandWing (i.e Sunny). But don't let their size fool you — with six sets of sharp claws and a stinger that can pierce in between the thickest of scales, they're a force to be reckoned with, especially in numbers. Any dragon afraid of needles would think HiveWings are their worst nightmare.
While all HiveWings have a stinger, not all HiveWings have the same potency of venom. Very rarely, some HiveWings are capable of dishing out lethal doses, while most can only nauseate or disable the subject of their stings.
Despite being much more muscular than SilkWings, they are incredibly quick and light on their talons. Their hind legs are specialized for quick takeoff, being able to spring into the air in the blink of an eye. Their two sets of forearms are ideal for grasping and holding prey, and their extra set of eyes are capable of detecting even the most precise of movements through body heat.
Speaking of eyes, HiveWings have the largest eyes in proportion to their bodies of any dragon tribe. They have acute eyesight and are capable of spotting movement from up to two miles away, even in the dark.
HiveWings are the only dragon tribe that are capable of hovering at a single coordinate, whereas other dragons must soar in circles around the same location.
HiveWing jaws are capable of splitting wide open (think Hyperendocrine Giganotosaurus from The Isle albeit to a lesser degree). Nobody likes watching a HiveWing eat, because they have a strange tendency to swallow things straight up, rather than chew.
In my headcanon of WoF, SilkWings are tall, elegant, passive dragons that resemble insects from the order Lepidoptera (butterflies & moths).
They are the largest tribe in Pantala, but are actually quite a bit smaller than most tribes in their neighboring continent, Pyrrhia.
Despite being much taller than their HiveWing hosts, SilkWings keep their heads held low to show consideration for their position within the hives. It's seen as a common courtesy to keep this posture around HiveWing superiors, officials and royalty, but is not required for standard citizens. SilkWings are taught this posture from an early age.
SilkWings come in any color under the sun. The whole rainbow at the same time, on occasion. Although black is a fairly uncommon color, it is still very possible, and is usually seen on SilkWings with a direct descent from ancient black dragons.
SilkWings are hatched with three pairs of limbs, like HiveWings; but their middle pair of arms become their wings during metamorphosis. During dragonethood, this extra set of arms is essential to staying safe as they traverse the webs they live in. However, when not climbing, they can often trip up the dragonets they belong to.
Each SilkWing has completely unique wings. Unless they're twins from the same egg, no two have the same shape, patterns, or colors. Some SilkWings might have trailing tails at the ends of their wings; like a Long-Tailed Skipper. While others might have short, rounded wings; like the Round-Winged Vagrant. Some may be opaque and bright, others two-sided. Some even transparent and glassy, like a Glasswing butterfly.
Unlike most other dragons as well, SilkWings have very short, round snouts; although their tongues are astonishingly long, and are designed for drinking nectar from large flowers and fruits. However, due to the HiveWings' dominance over their land, and the lack of most lush flora, SilkWings rely exclusively on HiveWings to provide them with the food they need through foraging.
In my headcanon of WoF, LeafWings are small, lightweight arboreal dragons that resemble various different types of flora.
LeafWings are most typically green, and it is quite rare for a LeafWing to completely lack green in its palette; but they can come in a variety of colors naturally found in the jungle. This ranges from bright yellow, red, orange, pink, and even (rarely) purple or white. (The LeafWing pictured above is based on the Maple leaf.)
LeafWings' frills & wings are constantly growing in, and most LeafWings will cut them to suit their own style. Depending on which family they belong to, they might cut them to match their relatives according to their house; i.e House Monstera, or House Fig. Although, their colors are inherited and do not change at will.
When compared to other tribes, LeafWings are the second smallest. They're only slightly bigger than HiveWings in sheer bulk; but unlike most other tribes, they are bipedal, using their arms only for climbing and otherwise as necessary. Standing on two legs makes them appear taller than both HiveWings and SilkWings, but when crouched on all-fours, their true small size is very apparent.
LeafWings get some of their energy from the sun, by absorbing it through their leaf-like wings and metabolizing it similarly to RainWings; although after generations of hiding in a dense, dark jungle, they are not so adept at this anymore and prefer to hunt more often.
A unique behavior to LeafWings is getting extra nutrients from actual flora, by embedding the seeds of plants in between their scales and allowing them to grow. The plants' roots will seek out capillaries under the skin, and will give the dragon vital nutrients in exchange for the minerals and proteins in their blood. This part of LeafWing culture is what has kept them alive for so long; through famine and drought.
However, many older LeafWings have accidentally succumbed to injuries sustained by plants that were too large, and became more of a parasite than a cooperative guest. No matter where a LeafWing comes from, they will almost certainly know the list of plants you shouldn't host in your scales unless you WANT to be sucked dry. That is, of course, unless you have leafspeak abilities to convince those plants to do otherwise.
Thank you all for voting for LeafWings in my poll a while ago!! It was super fun getting to these guys :)
I've never beaten him before, so I've been trying to figure out the best strategy for me. Parrying seems like the way to go though.
Honestly, I'm getting the same feeling I got on my first playthrough. "The final boss is too tough for me, and I'm okay with stopping here" type feeling. The same feeling I got when I attempted the Radiance fight in Hollow Knight.
I get to the final boss and I just stop. I make a couple of attempts, but I ultimately just stop trying. I don't feel angry or upset that I can't defeat the boss, it's my desire to defeat them that disappears.
"I made it this far, that's good enough for me" type thing.
I've been buried for a very, very long time underneath a mountain of anxiety. Turns out, it's hard to figure out who you are, when your body is in constant flight or fight mode, and literally has an allergic reaction to itself when anxiety gets too high. I cannot describe how torturous it was. Rashes, felt like my throat was tight (most terrifying), extreme panic.
It kept getting worse and worse until suddenly my heart wouldn't stop beating fast (VERY uncomfortable, couldn't sleep at all or very well), and my stools turned black.
They put me on anxiety medication, and I've never felt so much relief in my life. I was finally free from that shit. Fuck me, how did I ever live with that?
I don't like reliving those terrifying anxiety attacks, or the strange tachycardia episode, I'd rather not remember them, but... I felt like talking.
I just don't know how else to describe my intense passion and obsession for this species.
It's just... it's always been so weird to me. How can people hate them? Why do they always seem concerned with "fixing" them, or making them look like Toothless? It's very weird, it's like people assume the entire species is female.
I think they're perfect they way they are. They're sparkly, feminine, graceful, and absolutely beautiful. And there's no sexual dimorphism! Both males and females have the same physical traits!
That does make me wonder though...
If the Nameless Light Fury was male, would there still be the same backlash? Would he be "fixed", or made to look like Toothless? Would he be hated?
If no, THEN WHY THE FUCK IS IT OKAY TO DO IT TO HER???
