Some people: SPN’s new writers SUCK the show has really gone to crap since Kripke left!! Me, an intellectual: The show has continued 10 years post-Kripke. Has never been on the bubble for cancellation since season 6. Has had guaranteed pick up every season since season 8. Convention attendance grows every year, despite ridiculously high prices. Nearly everyone who has worked on the show wants to come back. The show has maintained a steady #2 or #3 spot all 14 seasons. Is the longest running genre show in American history. J2 have given up time with their families, and other acting opportunities to continue playing characters with stories they love. 

My conclusion: SPN is, in fact, still a GREAT show and some people are just not happy unless they’re complaining.

I know it seemed like Dean was cold and uncaring in this episode but honestly, it’s exactly the opposite. Dean is in pain. Some of the worst pain he has ever felt. He lost his mother and his son in one fell swoop and it was his son who is the cause of both. This hurts him so bad that he can hardly breathe. He can’t reconcile this. He can’t let himself truly feel this because it will level him. So he’s holding himself in check so hard. He’s taking all that pain and all that grief and stowing it away inside himself and opting for action over feeling. He needs to make a plan, execute the plan because this trauma is too much. This isn’t Dean being emotionless or unfeeling. This is Dean feeing so much he can’t process it. I know the writing of this episode was bad and clunky but honestly the content is there. Look at this through Dean’s eyes and you can see how all of this, all of it is killing him. Try to see this from his point of view and the you’ll see that the pain is immeasurable.

Jack in the box 14×19

Ok so there are alot of things that I want to get off my chest regarding this episode. This has to be one of those rare epsiodes in spn that TRULY disturbed me. I was pissed for the longest time because alot of things that happened in the episode and I just can’t keep it to myself anymore.

First of all, I would give due appreciation to Castiel who was the only one with enough sense to do and say the right thing and for finally standing up to Dean.

Can we all just agree that the new Bobby is NOTHING like the old Bobby and sucks? He is just another hunter and not part of the Winchester family. Period.

DEAN. Goddamn Dean. I never thought I’d genuinely start hating a character who is SO close to my heart. He has said alot of harsh things to many people (especially Cas) which I usually didn’t mind bc everyone’s allowed to be angry.

But now- his utter disregard for Jack and Cas, acting like an asshole and most importantly MANIPULATING Jack. When did he become this person? This clearly proved that all he has ever cared about is his blood family.

He would literally go to hell and back, bring the world nears its end, choose Sam over and over again over the world if it meant saving him. One sign of trouble with Jack and he gives up? Shrugs it off? Says that they have no other choice where he hasn’t even tried looking for one? Lying and manipulating jack? At this point I don’t care if he is grieving. THAT is not an excuse for all this.

Also, lets not kid ourselves into thinking that this isn’t about revenge. If jack had not killed Mary he would have tried to find a way. Now he just wants him gone. Let’s not forget that Dean literaly told Jack to kill himself when he was born. Even then he blamed him for cas’ death and Mary being in AU. Sam was the one who was always in his corner, it was never dean. Not to mentiom, he coerced sam to lie to jack even when he clearly didn’t want to.

JACK IS TWO YOU DIPSHITS. He is a KID. To top it off, he has no soul. He has no concept of right or wrong and is supremely naive. And to see Sam, Dean and Dumah manipulate and misuse him like that HURTS like hell.

It was their responsibility as Jack’s parents to protect him. I mean they are the ones who taught him to sacrifice everything for family right? They are the reason he burned his soul. Only because he learned it from them. And, the only reason he will turn evil is bc they lied to him and betrayed him. How is he supposed to see straight now?

He is so alone and hurt. He deserves so much better and I’m not gonna watch him become a villain.
