ONCE AND FUTURE
"Kaz and Inej wouldn't get married" she's religious and he wants the tax incentives, what's not clicking
the original crows trio is amazing because jesper is so excitable and bubbly and inej has more heart than all of ketterdam put together and yet both of them have chosen as their favourite person a mean little guy with the temperament of a wet cat
New Sketch-a-Wish voted on my wonderful Patreons for January! Featuring Kaz and Inej from Six of Crows!
Whoâs ready to see scene this in live action? đŠâ¨đ§Ąđ

Alright, Disney, repeat after me!
Artemis Fowl II is not even remotely athletic.
Artemis Fowl II couldnât shoot the broad side of a barn if he tried.
Artemis Fowl II doesnât wear anything other than a suit unless heâs robbing a Swiss vault, going through a crisis, or has no other option.
Artemis Fowl II had a very formal relationship with his father before he went to Russia.
Artemis Fowl II would never throw himself into the midst of a battle, he would let Butler handle it.
Artemis Fowl II grew up sneaking around his house frequently enough that he knew exactly what each security camera could see. He definitely would have noticed a conveniently placed hole in the floor.
Artemis Fowl II had very little remorse for any of his actions for a long time.
The real Artemis Fowl II would never.
Tumblr: *rolls out âbest stuff firstâ*
My blog:
on the one hand this is a joke post because lol i have never made a good post in my life, but also, if i hadnât made the connection between this update and my sudden nosedive in activity, i would have been really fucking discouraged about all the shit iâve been working on lately. i guarantee there are people on tumblr right now who havenât made that connection, and who are trying to figure out why suddenly no one likes anything theyâve made. and that fucking sucks.
Reminder to go into your settings and turn off âBest Stuff Firstâ because my activityâs tanked a couple days ago for no reason so this stuff IS happening.
You WILL miss content with that setting on.
i ainât joking when i say that my activity looks JUST like this too and i wasnât sure why
I can only find the option on the app under Settings > Dashboard Preferences.
To support content creators do us a favour and turn off âBest stuff firstâ. Open the tumblr app (Android or iOs) and go to âSettings > Dashboard Preferences. And please reblog this post, so that everybody will see this. Thank you very much!
I assumed I just wasnât writing very well, but maybe itâs not just me.
Am I supposed to pay to get my writing in front of followers now?
We interrupt your regularly-scheduled sci-fi content because this is important for app users, and it sucks. We all follow blogs because we want to see their content, not to have a crappy algorithm decide whatâs best.
This blog is down approximately 80%, which doesnât affect me other than as an annoyance (as this is a hobby and @okayto is small-ish) but the issue undoubtedly hurts others.
Below are instructions for turning it off. You have to do it individuallyâit doesnât matter if a blog you follow turns it off, youâll still be affected unless you do the same.
We donât normally reblog PSAs, but this is very clearly affecting us, too! If you havenât been getting your daily dose of RPG humor, this setting is probably why. Turn it off so you can see all the silly shit players say!
Trying to reblog the versions of these instructions with the most notes, so theyâll actually show up for the people afflicted by this update.
Once a little boy went to school. One morning The teacher said: âToday we are going to make a picture.â âGood!â thought the little boy. He liked to make all kinds; Lions and tigers, Chickens and cows, Trains and boats; And he took out his box of crayons And began to draw.
But the teacher said, âWait!â âIt is not time to begin!â And she waited until everyone looked ready. âNow,â said the teacher, âWe are going to make flowers.â âGood!â thought the little boy, He liked to make beautiful ones With his pink and orange and blue crayons. But the teacher said âWait!â âAnd I will show you how.â And it was red, with a green stem. âThere,â said the teacher, âNow you may begin.â
The little boy looked at his teacherâs flower Then he looked at his own flower. He liked his flower better than the teacherâs But he did not say this. He just turned his paper over, And made a flower like the teacherâs. It was red, with a green stem.
On another day The teacher said: âToday we are going to make something with clay.â âGood!â thought the little boy; He liked clay. He could make all kinds of things with clay: Snakes and snowmen, Elephants and mice, Cars and trucks And he began to pull and pinch His ball of clay.
But the teacher said, âWait!â âIt is not time to begin!â And she waited until everyone looked ready. âNow,â said the teacher, âWe are going to make a dish.â âGood!â thought the little boy, He liked to make dishes. And he began to make some That were all shapes and sizes.
But the teacher said âWait!â âAnd I will show you how.â And she showed everyone how to make One deep dish. âThere,â said the teacher, âNow you may begin.â
The little boy looked at the teacherâs dish; Then he looked at his own. He liked his better than the teacherâs But he did not say this. He just rolled his clay into a big ball again And made a dish like the teacherâs. It was a deep dish.
And pretty soon The little boy learned to wait, And to watch And to make things just like the teacher. And pretty soon He didnât make things of his own anymore.
Then it happened That the little boy and his family Moved to another house, In another city, And the little boy Had to go to another school.
The teacher said: âToday we are going to make a picture.â âGood!â thought the little boy. And he waited for the teacher To tell what to do. But the teacher didnât say anything. She just walked around the room.
When she came to the little boy She asked, âDonât you want to make a picture?â âYes,â said the little boy. âWhat are we going to make?â âI donât know until you make it,â said the teacher. âHow shall I make it?â asked the little boy. âWhy, anyway you like,â said the teacher. âAnd any color?â asked the little boy. âAny color,â said the teacher. And he began to make a red flower with a green stem.

I hate that I hesitated to reblog this just because I expect people to think itâs pretentious or melodramatic when itâs seriously real as fuck and Iâve witnessed it
what if public libraries were open late every night so that:
- children and teens who cant get home until a later time have a safe, warm, well lit, populated area to socialize, charge devices, rest, etc
- children and teens have a safe place to go to stay away from danger
- people who have jobs that take up most of the day would still have time ANY DAY OF THE WEEK to go use the libraries facilities (printing, computers, etc)
This is exactly what public libraries are trying to achieve - public libraries as a third place is a whole thing - itâs just that the funding isnât there (yet).
Libraries need and deserve so much funding
Iâm going to apologize if this post comes off as sounding very aggressive, but having just been through one of the most stressful experiences of my entire career in libraries:Â
if you want this, you need to be at your local community government meetings. you need to be talking to your representatives. you need to be out there Lobbying.
Just a few weeks ago, my library, me, my coworkers, we had to write letters, send emails, make phone calls, speak at council meetings, just to beg our aldermen to give us our usual funding. Which they didnât even give to us last year. Losing last yearâs funding forced us to cut staff, hours, and all of our databases. If weâd lost this yearâs funding? two positions would have been gone and we would have likely had to close on Saturdays. On Saturdays. The day of the week most of yâall working M-F jobs actually have time to go to the fucking library.
And do you want to know how much money we were asking? We were asking for an increase of approximately 13 cents a person.
13.
Fucking.
Cents.
ACROSS AN ENTIRE YEAR.
No one seems to understand how libraries are funded. Itâs not just Free Stuff. Itâs your tax dollars being paid back into your community. Itâs crowdfunding. The highest cost anyone in my community pays for the library a year is approximately $250. Divide that up. Thatâs just $4 a week. Thatâs less than a coffee. Itâs the equivalent of purchasing about 10 hardcover books a year. For that price, you could have access to every book that has ever been written, a place to go thatâs not a bar, programs for kids, teens, and adults, educated staff that can help you find the answers to your questions, and so much more.
You want these late-night libraries? You want all this stuff? Start fighting for it. Start showing up. Start making phone calls. Itâs not going to come out of thin air. Start fighting to erase the idea that taxes = evil. Start fighting to spread the understanding that taxes are what help us build a better society.
Make sure the people who represent you know that you want this. That this is where you want your tax dollars to go. That this is what you want them to support. That you are willing to see your tax bill go up a few more dollars for this.
Because otherwise? None of this is going to happen. Libraries are going to keep cutting their opening hours. Keep cutting staff. Keep cutting programs and databases and collections.
We NEED your support, and we need more than just a post on Tumblr. We need to see people show up and speak out.Â
i attended a panel on human trafficking a few years ago, and it was focused on child sex rings in particular. it was held after a play written by a local anonymous woman who had been in a child sex slave ring since she was 5 years old, one she was roped into by a then-14 year old cousin. the panel was led by 4 experts including child psychologist who specialized in rehabilitating sexually abused children, and a homeland security agent who specialized in cracking down on human trafficking in the american southeast.
tw for sexual violence and assault ahead
according to the account of the survivor, most of the girls in her ring ended up going into pornography once they turned 18 because it was harder to get clients once they were of âlegalâ age, but the porn industry would take them in because 18 = good, right? and sex work was the only option for these girls. it was all they knew. at 18, most of them had been performing sex work for over a decade. and they didnât see that as a problem. most of them went to school. had lives that appeared outwardly normal. had friends and family who had no idea what was going on.
when they entered the porn industry, do you think there were background checks? do you think there was counseling? considering amateur porn stars are financially responsible for their own travel fees, their preventative healthcare, their birth control, their wardrobes, their urgent care costs when they inevitably injure themselves/wear out their bodies from hours upon hours of performing often physically demanding sex acts... do you think they were fairly compensated? itâs actually quite uncommon for a porn star to last more than 1-3 months in the industry, even those with thousands of videos produced and who continue to trend on sites like pornhub today. and the way pay works is like this: you get paid the more graphic and violent the content you film is. solo films donât earn you much. regardless of your gender, filming scenes with other women only pay a little more than solo films. filming scenes with men is what pays, for both genders. the more aggressive and demeaning, the better the pay. you get paid a whole lot if you, for instance, let man violently deepthroat you to the point that you vomit. (source: documentary âhot girls wantedâ)
how much more likely do you think women who have been groomed since early childhood are to accept these more demeaning roles? one of the most heartbreaking things i have heard one say to justify accepting this treatment was something along the lines of, âi figure as long as itâs happening to me on screen, i may be preventing men from going out and doing it to other girls.â this self-deprecating perspective is such a red flag, an indication that this is a person who was groomed. because when you have been sexually abused since you were a child, your self worth isnât going to be very high. your boundaries will be stripped away before you are even given the blueprint for building them. and the industry doesnât care. these arenât human beings to them. they are products.
so when one audience member of the panel raised their hand and asked what the average person can do to combat human trafficking, the psychologist and agent exchanged a look and said, âyou may not like this answer, but for starters, a huge step would be to stop consuming porn.â the fact is, there is no ethical consumption of it. ESPECIALLY when you are streaming from free hosting sites like pornhub, or xvideos, or redtube, or the countless others. there is no way to verify that the content uploaded there is consensual. or that, even in the cases where it is, one or all of the people filmed havenât been groomed since childhood to perform sex work and are continuing to be exploited by the porn industry. even in the unlikely chance that the website you are using hasnât had anyone upload such videos to it, free sites rely on ad revenue and often advertise websites that DO offer this. just a couple of clicks from pornhub can take you to actual child pornography.
there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, and that includes porn.
TERFs and SWERFs are not welcome on this post, btw. ok to reblog otherwise.

Indentured servitude is opresssion.
Indentured servitude is not chattel slavery.
The Irish were oppressed and have a history of indentured servitude.
The Irish were not bought and sold or held as property generation to generation.
Please stop confusing the two. Thanks.
Maybe all the twentysomethings are obsessed with cartoons because all the âadultâ shows show the same traumas, frustrations, and anxieties we already have to deal with 24/7.
Sometimes you just wanna watch a princess of power or a magical alien child do fancy magic stuff in a lower-stakes world where you can be reasonably sure you wonât be subjected to depictions of extreme violence, gore, assault, and sex without warning, ya dig?
Itâs true and you should say it
so much adult media likes to pretend hopelessness and pessimism and cynicism are something profound instead of the same depressing nonsense that you can find self-righteous assholes spouting on any given corner of the internet
society acts like weâre supposed to outgrow hope somewhere between sixteen and twenty-two and itâs absolute bullshit
being an adult isnât about giving up
hold on, let me repeat that
just in case y'all didnât hear me in the back
being an adult isnât about giving up
I canât believe no one has posted a clip of this yet. This is one of the funniest bits in the whole show.
someone asked me to post a good birb so here you go
That is too good
i read the article on netflix that was like âwe lost 2.6 billion dollars last year because of people sharing their password :â(((â
so lets see. netflix apparently has 139,260,000 accounts, with each and every one of those accounts paying anywhere from $13 to $16 a month, which means each account is generating about $156 to $192 every year, which all adds up to, unless i messed up my math, $21,724,560,000⏠generated every year. Twenty one billion dollars, at least.
so fuck you and fuck your crocodile tears lmao. youâre never going to make any of your bad decisions this seem justified.
You know what Iâm still annoyed with this because no, Netflix, you did not lose a single fucking penny. You did not lose money from people sharing their accounts, they did not physically take the money from you. Your profits did not go down, they just didnât rise as much as you wanted them to, and you consider that a catastrophic loss of billions of dollars. Fuck off.
