q&a succession
a-whole-bunch-of-stuff said:Hi Cassie! I wanted to ask how does succession work in the Unseelie Court? Kieran isn’t the eldest and definitely not the favorite, at least from the King’s point of view, so why is it implied that he would perhaps rule after his father? (Adaon at the park, the fact itself that the King sent him away for seeing him as a threat) Thank you!
Good question! In the Unseelie Court, succession is a vicious process with the princes often fighting it out for the throne. The Unseelie King has picked no successor, and so right now if he died, the princes would kill each other until someone came out on top. Kieran was seen as a danger because he’s actually pretty well-liked by the Court —or was—and the better liked you are, the more people will back you up in a fight.
The Seelie Court has succession through a dynasty, but if there is no successor when the King/Queen dies the courtiers get together and vote, somewhat like the process for Pope. Of course there’s a lot of bribery and behind the scenes shenanigans, but the whole process is less murdery than it would be in the Unseelie Court. So far the Queen hasn’t got a successor — that we know of…

CoHF & LoS Spoilers (kinda)
ah yes the herondales. the ones with incredibly diverse names such as christopher jonathan herondale and jonathan christopher herondale.
Ok so I was thinking about Bridget from The Infernal Devices (and The Dark Artifices) and trying to work out how she has been alive for so long and I think I have a theory...
Throughout TID we kept hearing about these morbid songs that she wouldnt stop singing, what if they were somehow tied to a type of magic to extend one’s life?
