Good question! In the Unseelie Court, succession is a vicious process with the princes often fighting it out for the throne.The Unseelie King has picked no successor, and so right now if he died, the princes would kill each other until someone came out on top.  Kieran was seen as a danger because he’s actually pretty well-liked by the Court —or was—and the better liked you are, the more people will back you up in a fight. 

The Seelie Court has succession through a dynasty, but if there is no successor when the King/Queen dies the courtiers get together and vote, somewhat like the process for Pope. Of course there’s a lot of bribery and behind the scenes shenanigans, but the whole process is less murdery than it would be in the Unseelie Court. So far the Queen hasn’t got a successor — that we know of…

OK BUT I HAD A THOUGHT AND MIGHT BE ONTO SOMETHING

CoHF & LoS Spoilers (kinda)

So we know the seelie queen wants the black book and she says it is to defeat the unseelie king but (let’s be real does she ever mean what she says) I think she wants to raise Sebastian from the dead. We know that the book has the necromancy spells necessary to raise someone but why would she want to?

PERHAPS BECAUSE SHE HAD HIS CHILD

When it comes to theories about the Seb/Seelie queen love child I basically believe that the unprotected sex that went down in CoHF could have very well lead to the queen falling pregnant and for the baby to be born in secret.

People seem to think that the child would have been demonic due to Sebastian’s demon blood but I dont think that that part of him would be passed down. I think that the child could possibly be a half shadowhunter half fae with immense power and ability.

I think we have already met this child. I believe that Ash, the young faery boy seen in LoS could be the love child of these two insane people. The description of the physical appearance of Ash shows that he could be their offspring.

But now why would the Seelie queen want to bring Sebastian back just to help raise her child. She is the queen and could have anyone help her with the child and I dont really think Sebastian is a candidate for most fatherly character in the series. Unless she knows that the necromancy spells would bring him back without the demon blood which would mean he would be able to feel the proper human emotions needed to raise a child.

I know the timeline seems off but we have evidence that the time in faerie works differently to how it does in the normal world. 

We know that the Rosales family heirloom is important in some way, why else would Zara want it? We know that it transported Dru to the place that Ash lives in faeryland, maybe that is what makes it so special. It transports you straight to the seelie queen and Sebastian Morgenstern’s lovechild.

Ok so I was thinking about Bridget from The Infernal Devices (and The Dark Artifices) and trying to work out how she has been alive for so long and I think I have a theory...

Throughout TID we kept hearing about these morbid songs that she wouldnt stop singing, what if they were somehow tied to a type of magic to extend one’s life?
