Made-to-Measure is finally complete after just over a year of writing! It’s been a blast from start to finish, and though it’ll be a few months until I get back to writing for Project Moon again (I have some special projects that need to be finished first) don’t think this is the last you’ll see of me!

LETS TALK ABOUT IDENTITIES AND THE MIRROR
and that damned bucket and well.
Lobotomy Corporation is well known for having a story that’s really really good, but also confusing. Specifically- every single time Binah shows up and talks about things.
She talks in extended metaphors that explain where E.G.O and Abnormalities come from, however, from how LobCorp describes the process, I think they use a similar if not identical method to “draw” out ID’s.
These things are made by drawing from the “well” using a “bucket”, or a “straw”.
The “Well” is the human subconsciousness- or, rather, one individual persons unique spring that seperates from the complete river of the human subconsciousness, refered to as a “river”.
The “bucket” is the method that they use to extract potential from someone, which in Lobcorp is both Cogito and Carmen. Carmen produces Cogito, so she is the “bucket” while Cogito is the substance within it.
(Extraction notably is also the term used for aquiring E.G.O and Abnormalities in Lobotomy Corporation, since both the equipment AND the monsters are derived from human beings injected with Cogito. In Limbus Company, it’s the same term used for pulling Identities.)
Lobotomy Corporation sought to give everyone acess to their own Well, letting them draw their infinite possibilities from this River that connected past, present, future, possibility, and potential. The Well of an individual person is everything they are, could be, and have forgotten how to be.
Mirror technology follows a very similar pattern, with one notable difference. The changes are temporary, and will wear off after time. We don’t know the details as to exactly how the Mirror was created- Yi Sang adapted an invention that allowed one to see into the past, but how he did that we have no idea.
(Faust also seemingly has complete, innate acess to her Well in the form of the Gesellschaft, but im not strong enough to get into that rn when there are already so many paragraphs on my screen)
My theory is that Dante IS the new bucket, allowing them to reach into the different Wells of the Sinners through the connection they’ve formed with them. Carmen is the one narrating these different worlds because she is, and has always been, so tied to the Well and the River that when Dante acesses these possibilities she sees them as well.
Tldr: Dante has replaced Carmen as Limbus Companies own personal bucket, and is pulling out their Identites from the Well.
