Happy Pride Months to everyone especially to them 🏳️🌈
If you ever want to expand on that Andy/Robert point.....
look. look.
imagine you're ten year's old and you meet a lad who's had a shit life and has basically no family, and that's foreign to you because you're surrounded by family (even if they do keep dying). and you help save him from the quarry, and it's brilliant, and then his grandma dies and your mum and dad say hey, he's coming to live with us and it's like all your christmases come true, right?
except nothing ever goes to plan and life goes sideways and you flip between being mad that he's taking your place to passionately defending him because how dare anyone else get to say anything bad about him, right up until he takes your mum from you and almost takes your dad (does take your dad, but not with a bullet).
and amongst all that realise you like boys too and you're sent away and you come back and nothing's okay.
and your ex-best friend-brother is the person you think about most, for better or worse.
and you steal the girl he loves because you love her too and because he loves her and because you can and because you're two sides of the same coin and your lives are intrinsically linked for all time.
so yeah tl;dr robert spent most of his early life thinking about andy in one way or another, and his teenage years trying to get under andy's skin, and i'm just saying that that's robert's love language baby.
andy was robert's first love, in whichever way you want to take that.
I know negativity is the order of the day with Emmerdale (sometimes deserved) but I REALLY like the darts side plot. It's what soaps are missing, nonsensey stuff with a lot of characters involved. You know. FUN.
the show being bad and boring now doesnt stop me from watching new eps bc its 20 minutes of light entertainment in the morning while i wait for my acid reflux medication to kick in. wait. elderly british person speech bubble. have i come full circle
if i did care about the show being bad and boring now id talk about how the characters used to feel so grounded with full lives when the plot didnt rely on a million gimmicks featuring a brigade of temporary antagonists and how everyones lives were more integrated so that characters from different families could be friends with each other or even minor enemies on a regular basis instead of only being spotlighted when plot convenient and how the show was able to maintain a healthy cast of characters instead on relying on just a handful of fan favourites to carry the emotional weight of the show and how characters used to be able to actively react to evolving plots rather than passively reacting to the repetitive scares for a month before anything happens but its pointless to criticize the show when the quality decline is related to things like budget cuts which is out of the writer rooms hands however at the same time i think theyve handled the subsequent writing decisions poorly so its difficult to even know what and how to fairly criticize especially when in the first place its such a different experience watching the show in curated yt playlists vs watching live. but i dont care. so.
Possibly my spiciest take is that it's actually good to have people you respect and like that have some dogshit takes.
I think part of what is making young people lonelier, in discussing why they're increasingly isolated, is that they're so afraid of meeting someone who doesn't hold their same beliefs, and instead of being just core beliefs it is kinda ancillary shit.
It's actually okay to disagree even on social topics! Even on some political ones! But I mean, online you can start with "i love this mutual but they have a really bad/uninformed opinion about x media"
I know this is IMMEDIATELY going to be taken in bad faith, and yes babygirl, you are so right, I DO want you to go make best friends with both the KKK grand wizard AND your nearest nazi leader.
But seriously, as someone who has spent two decades doing community organization: finding ways to connect with different people is so so so important. There are people i follow here who ate 80% smart and their brain falls out of their head 20% of the time and that is GOOD FOR MY MENTAL ECOSYSTEM AND GOOD FOR LEARNING HOW TO BE A PERSON
LET'S ALL GO PISS ON THE POOR
it's gonna be mad when the next emmerdale gen gets old enough to start warring effectively
harry: you're a betrayal
seb: you're a crime
eve: i'm a miracle
leyla: i'm my own great aunt (?)
Then and now 🐮
Soap Challenge - 2/4 Platonic Relationships - Moira Dingle + Her Children
Chris: You're not getting any younger, Jack. Maybe it's time you started thinking about the next generation. Robert. Victoria. And my son, Joseph. They all have an interest in this farm. (5th November 1996)
Joe: [Robert] has offered to sell your share of the farm...to me. (7th January 2026)
30 years later...I loveeee when prophecies are fulfilled. Robert, Victoria, and Joseph - they all have an interest in Emmerdale Farm. Jack's son, Sarah's daughter, and Chris' son. 30 years later and it's the three of them, after all. Still invested in Emmerdale Farm. A prophecy, or perhaps a curse. Evil legacy, evil birthright, the cycle continues on and on forever and never stops. They each might leave the village for a bit but they will always return. Cursed to return, trapped on Emmerdale Farm until the end. And then it will be Seb, Harry, and Joe's unborn child.
GET OUT OF MY HOUSE???
guys you know what? now that they've finished the kitchen reno, the blue and black kinda slaps. is it the nostalgia of their first home at the mill? perhaps. would i ever try this color combination irl? nope. does it warm my heart? absolutely.
