While Safe On Familiar Soil A Question Arises
What abyss, Is deeper and darker, Than the one we keep inside...

Her cruel look denotes The softness of her rare touch, Depths of her hearts love...

Our misfortune builds When we point fingers away, And not one within...

Stitched and patched with haste Is the lot of a true heart, Broken, healed and held...

A question not asked Sometimes turns into a thorn, Like the wrong answer...

Ten thousand lifetimes Do pass when I blink my eye, On some other world...
A toe dip into a stream of consciousness
Her eyes saw around but never through me. I built doors into walls thick with ages of mistrust and misguided false truths whispered into my ears while I was wide awake but stomped into my skull when I slept, for her. Chiseled names of ghosts from the past and unopened letters from monsters from the present slid beneath cracks that she always proclaimed as weakness. Her tears rained constantly but never for reasons we could see and when asked teeth snarled and bit while fists pounded my chest as I though is she trying to beat my heart more than it already is. Yet I never strayed and always held close the little things that were big in my eyes the things she did like twirl her hair or drum fingernails painted shiny colors or tap her feet to unheard notes of music that flittered in from instruments all around us like passing cars or wind in the trees and strangers voices. So now I sit and think did I really let her in or was it just an excuse for me to get out of a dark and gloomy past from which I was always told nothing is better than what you keep inside and all I was given was ugliness and pain. Her eyes saw around me the beauty that she thought would never be hers and what I always tried to give her everyday.
