I don’t tend to post a lot of personal things here these days, but I’m going to take a moment to kvetch.

I do product design.

Which basically means I design things you may interact with on a daily basis, or at least it may become some kind of prop in the play that is your life.

It’s concept art for real life, with a bit of pseudo engineering thrown in.

Except these days, thanks to genAI, that’s less of the case. I don’t like it nor do I want to use it, but my boss has hopped *fully* onboard the AI train after utilizing it extensively for several personal projects (he made digital actors for a music video and short film series he’s working on, for instance - no need for camera crews, hiring actors, etc.).

So along with discovering it can fully make fake people, he’s also discovered it can make 3D models; not 100% professional, but enough to get a leg up on a project, and consequently think a project can be finished a week early.

…anyway, I lost the thread a bit, but I miss being able to *make* things, instead of having to clean up after AI. I know I need to seek creative fulfillment outside of work at this point, but *damn* it’s frustrating that wasn’t always the case.

the annoying thing about weightlifting is that you have to lift weights that are a little too heavy for you if you want to get stronger. and you have to push yourself outside of your comfort zone in order to keep building muscle. fucked up.

Papercraft commission of Frieren! I love this series, so I was extra excited to make this piece. ^_^

Since I had free choice of what spell to depict, I picked the Vollzanbel/black hole spell from the big magic fight in episode 25, because I thought it would look especially rad made out of shimmery holographic paper. Plus, I also got to make flying rocks! Bursts of fiery light! Lots of drama!! And, my favorite part - I got to go super, wildly detailed with Frieren's hair!
