yesterday instead of doing things i need to i watched 3 movies, 2 with friends and 1 with my mother. without naming the films here are my reviews of them:

beautiful. the pacing is so good. everyone should see this. i feel like i could make a movie like this if i wanted to; i would not have made this movie but. something of a similar viewing experience. best out of the three

this film had some real underlying reactionary views about children & crime. which really annoyed me while watching especially at the beginning. but the level of melodrama by the end made it hard to even get mad at or discern what the point of it was.... silly. a lot of it is shot like a music video, which honestly i liked as an artistic choice.

nice cinematography. a family friend is in it.... the subject matter is not that appealing to me for obvious reasons. but the movie isn't, like, bad

my dear friend who had done the most to help me when i was living alone and who was extremely kind to me was both more involved in the local leftist political scene and less privileged than i was. i feel completely indebted to her... & i'm sure plenty of other people have anecdotes like that too. but these ones don't have the "salt-of-the-earth conservative with a heart of gold" trope, so you know. it just doesn't have mass appeal when the person's politics reflect their kindness.
