So a friend of mine and I were talking about Dean, ya know as ya do, and she commented "he never uses the handle on mugs! he always holds a cup by the body of it, it's like he's impervious to burns!". And...I think she's right?? So I wanted to double check with you since you're my go to source for all Dean minutiae.

Dean does tend to ignore handles when he’s drinking coffee

And then, there’s this maneuver from Remember the Titans

In a lot of the above where he’s not using the handle, he’s in the bunker. The bunker has cups with tiny handles . And the other ones, the handles seem to lean toward the smaller/narrower side as well. And Dean does not have tiny hands. Looking at this set, it seems that Dean probably tends to use the handles more when they’re bigger and he can get a good grip that way. But either way, he does seem to have palms of steel when it comes to coffee.

Somebody ask Jensen this at the next con! I need to know if he made a conscious choice to have Dean do this or will he get surprised by how close of attention we pay to these lil details.

I think there are two reasons Jensen does this. One, the size of the cups. His hands are large, and his fingers don’t fit through the dainty handles on some of those tiny cups.

And two, it can get cold up there in Vancouver and maybe he does it to keep his hands warm. Just my thoughts.
