Hey mutuals (and people who want to be friends!) say hi in dms and feel free to scream at me about archaeology, studyblr or just life in general. I really like interacting with people here 🖤🍂

Don't trust collectors who say that nasal turbinates don't matter.
The inside of an animal’s nasal cavity tells us lots of information about the environment it lived in and the family it belongs to. Aggressive treatments such as boiling damage them: anyone who uses those methods to “clean” bones is not a true enthusiast.

Lita's skeleton is mostly clean except for her leg bones which are still trapped in degreasing prison. I can't wait to get her all finished and ready for articulation!

"Hey, archaeologists! As archaeologists, we tend to be the doing sort, the busybodies shovelling and sorting, keeping and caring, custodians of time, places, people.
It’s time to lean into that, to do some things we are particularly good at doing. We aren’t asking you to do all the things, just one or two–it takes all of us, and there will be people who can help out in other ways."
The Gatehouse, Ballindalloch Castle, Emily in Scotland!💙🏴
The Gatehouse, Ballindalloch Castle (Scotland) is a historic entrance building that forms part of Ballindalloch Castle, a well-preserved Scottish baronial castle in Moray. The castle was built in 1546 by the Macpherson-Grant family and has remained in the same family ever since.
The Gatehouse traditionally served as a controlled entrance and defensive point, reflecting the turbulent clan history of 16th-century Scotland. Like the castle itself, it showcases classic Scottish architectural features and symbolizes the blend of defense, status, and domestic life typical of noble estates of that era. 💙 🏴

15-01-2026 // day 11.
My only lecture on friday got canceled so i tried to write as many notes as i could today. I'll do the same tomorrow, and then i can enjoy some well deserved rest. This period i have lectures every weekday, and i kinda miss having a "study all day at home" day. I'd brew some tea, put on my headphones, and lock in for hours... but now i have to get my ass up, put on a hundred layers and walk to uni for my silly little lectures
